You're right, I was just at a comp this past weekend and there were hundreds of people. I really felt the energy and I didn't see one frown the entire day. Surprisingly few smokers and only a handful of beers. It was nice, however; in competition is sucked. You had heats where these kids could barely fucking make it around the bowl. If there is thousands of dollars at play I'm going to want some competition and actual fucking skating. Fun comp, just... not fun skating, if that makes sense. It's the main reason I don't like those big events. I feel like it drags expectations down.
