No? I'm a pasty Southerner living in the Norf. I've just seen a bunch of American food through cultural osmosis and a lot of it seems like it'd be pretty nice.
I know it's fun to mock the colonials but they do some decent looking scran - I've tried replicating a couple of recipes, probably the most successful one was when I made Cincinnati chili, complete with half a ton of grated cheddar on top.

I think it depends on the region. The south focuses a lot on fried goods - 'chicken frying' cuts of meat, plus you've got things like collard greens, there's stuff like meatloaf (I've also made that, pretty nice).
Regions have their own specialities. Stuff like New England clam chowder, Texans love their chili and cornbread (also made that, pretty good though a bit gritty - that might have come down to the coarseness of the cornflour I used). Stuff like apple pies and key lime pies, the gulf states and their lobster & seafood.

There's a few American snacks I wish were more commonly available over here, though my already shitty body is probably glad they aren't - stuff like twinkies, for example.
