7 was better than Village by a mile. 7 actually managed to be a decent horror game, while Village was a mediocre mismash of 7 and 4 that got neither right. For a game with so much combat, the weapons are fucking dogshit and feel incredibly weak. Village was boring.

I didn't say that at all though. I don't like the hillbilly shit in VII at all, nor the black goo monsters. The enemy variety in Village was definitely better, though it could absolutely be underwhelming with filler monsters like the lame ones with the swords, but the combat was fucking atrocious for a game fixated on it. VII at least felt like more of a horror game focused on avoiding enemies when you can, and had good level design. Village is a slow, boring FPS that doesn't follow up on VII's level design or horror, or isn't even remotely as fun as RE4.

Look at the way the shotgun works in something like village. Lycans can tank a full shotgun blast to the face with no hitstun, while in 4 (even on professional) they'll at least be blasted away, or react to the weapon even if it doesn't kill them. Additionally there is this artificial wait time between shots from each gun. You're just forced to wait for no reason.

Guns in Village feel so fucking weak. In RE4, even unupgraded weapons can still viable beat the game. Can't do this in village though. This isn't reflective of the difficulty either, which isn't hard in village - it's just all over the place. On Village of Shadows, the hardest part of the game is still the beginning survival part in the village and the game just gets easier and easier. Meanwhile Ethan moves in such a slow, cumbersome way. It worked well in the cramped environments in VII, but in Village it's just annoying since you're in constant combat.

A perfect example of how poor Village's design is, is mercinaries mode. What's going to fuck you up isn't dying to enemies, or maintaining combos, it's how there will be a single enemy slowly roaming the map because it spawned alone after you wiped everything else out. You'd never have that issue in 4 or 5's Merc mode, where it's actually tense the whole time.

I Think they Just feel the First Person RE was still a risky idea.RE7 was a sucess that take a while,meanwhile REmake2 sold gangbusters fast.RE8 could be indeed a last affort to First person soo they didnt expected to support.I mean Lets face It,nobody expected another Ethan game after RE7.
