Elden Ring runs fantastically on my console considering that it is a first gen PS4. I'm dabbing on pc-lards with my 170 dollars console and I'm proud of it.

I don't trust them. Cyberpunk was the final straw- it's unacceptable that all major outlets agreed to the absurd embargo requirements (can't use their own footage, no console code, etc).
TLOU2's embargo was almost as bad. Reviewers were forbidden to even mention certain things to avoid spoilers, which seems understandable but the requirements were so broad that it made serious reviews of the game meaninglessly vague.

However, in terms of the overall sentiment and numeric scores, the reviewers got TLOU2 right. It really is one of the best games ever made, and if anything 93 seems a touch low to me (I think it was dragged down by Edge's 9/10). Unlike Cyberpunk, the TLOU2 embargo at least wasn't hiding any problems- it really was just an anti-spoiler thing, albeit a somewhat empty one thanks to the leaks.

Wiki says that TLOU 2 is the most AND the fastest selling game on PS4. And sold 4 mln copies within one week.

TLOU2 looks better at 1080p30 than it does at 4K60.
1080p30, combined with aggressive AA and strong film grain, results in a very soft and filmic atmosphere.
4K60 feels a bit like the experimental high-frame-rate movies we saw a few years back- it's definitely sharper and clearer, but also looks more artificial and makes the flaws and limitations more obvious. Sometimes less is more.

I say that as someone who usually prefers as high a resolution and (especially) framerate as possible.

Those motion interpolation settings should always be turned off, they're terrible anti-features.
The movies I was referring to were actually shot in a high frame rate rather than being interpolated to it, so they weren't as bad as that- but they still feel "wrong" in the sense of not feeling very movie-like.

Critics in general, not just gaming. But gaming is pretty bad. The Elden Ring perfect scores too. I know a lot of you like that game obsessively but it’s not for me. I think you need autism to get into those games. Certainly not 10/10 material. They need to take a step back and review it on the basis of gamers as a whole not just an autistic niche no matter how large that niche may be. high fps makes scenes in film look less cinematic yeah but i could see 60fps working for something like horror where you have lot more frantic camera movement. like a clear 60fps shot of gore would be nauseous if the special effect is well done.

I have the money but I care about games and not muh graphics. I can get away with using only my toaster for pc games because current gen games are trash, Elden Ring is a minor exception.

Just a friendly reminder that basic TPS gameplay, basic stealth, basic crafting and press X to play an animated cutscene of the butch killing an enemy is not good gameplay and if you think otherwise you're either a snoy or a normie.
