I will never understand the hype for this video game. It is just a solid 6/7 with many issues. Why do people act like its the second coming of christ
I will never understand the hype for this video game. It is just a solid 6/7 with many issues...
hbomberguy fix receding hairline challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Why does hbomb have fans? He's such a smug, condescending, unlikeable cunt. It's not even his politics that turn me away from him, it's just his pretentious attitude I can't stand.
I have no idea who he is desu i just saw this tweet.
How can I explain this to you...
When you miss a niche band wagon like Witcher 2 or Doom remake that are actually good, people who missed it double down on fanboyism for the next game to seem like they're ahead of the curve instead of behind it.
So they missed Witcher 2? Now they will devote everything to Witcher 3. And the marketing supports them in this. Making it seem like this next game is bigger and better. But it isn't. It's just the company capitalising on profits making a shutter less soulful game. But of course the new fans don't care. They're on the curve that they missed before.
They're with it.
They're cool now.
I don't understand this tweet and I played Doom Eternal.
I think it has to do with using the right weapon on the right enemy kind of design that Doom Eternal has. So I think he's comparing it to a little kids "put the right shape in the hole" puzzle
>I think it has to do with using the right weapon on the right enemy kind of design that Doom Eternal has.
And the implication is, this is bad?
Like a video game has... video game mechanics?
There is no must use weapon or tactics in the base game expect against the shield guys and those were in 2016 too. DLCs started a road to bullshit.
Fucking astute my man
the fact they have those giant doom guy mechs and you never get to pilot one even vs icon of sin is fucking unforgivable
i think you hit the nail on the head
All of the lefty Youtubers give off those smug Uni prof airs, I think the breadtube audience just genuinely enjoys being talked down to, all baiting aside.
>airs
>doesn’t know how to use the word
>uses it anyways
No wonder you think people come off smug lmao
Kill yourself.
Because its a 10, also kill yourself.
If you have only ever played 1 fps game i can see why you think that.
Eternal is better than 2016, you fucking pleb.
I'm an ESL and airs makes perfect sense in that phrase in my native language, guess I was wrong.
Doom Eternal is the second coming of Christ and you got filtered. The OP pic perfectly describes Sekiro. Eternal is actually a great game.
very based post
That's right, the square hole.
Many younger people genuinely can’t understand how insufferable they are. I’d say about 70% of people grow out of it and the ones that don’t become raging online left wingers. I’m just glad I didn’t have any YouTubers like that to be a fan of when I was a teen.
It’s used to describe something somebody is actively doing rather than how you feel about them. Putting on airs is bragging to seem cultured.
Yeah but it requires you to have more skill than a kid with Down’s syndrome so it filters most normies.
Eternal is better apart from
worse art style
worse story
worse music
worse level design
worse enemy design
worse environemental storytelling
worse presentation
worse boss fights
even the tutorials in eternal are fucking dumb
Doom eternal seems popular among people who think the game is really hard and that they are some kind of genius for beating it when actually its basically just a glorified game of bop it and is not even hard.
Doom fans really think eternal is hard and they deserve some kind of medal for beating it lmao
2016 is not a bad game. Eternal is just better.
This, pretty much.
It varies per topic, and he does have self deprecating stuff to atleast sometimes offset it.
His opinion on vidya is weird. His latest autism tantrum on deusex urevinelution was pretty on point. His darksouls 2 stuff i can understand his attitude on some but mostly felt like desperately defending a game he really enjoyed (accepting a game does weird or bad things and still liking it is ok)
I think his sense of humor just isn't compatible with everyone, for me it falls flat sometimes, but overall i still enjoy his videos.
As for OP It might just be a funny jab at the colourful pickups and specialization of certain weapons for certain enemies/bodyparts.
What makes or breaks the game for people i think is the endless respawning enemies aspect mixed with timed/cooldown abilities.
"having an air of x" is used often when people speak english in my country to describe their attitude/how they consciously or subsconsciously present themselves. Often with negative connotation of hubris like having an air of superiority.
As another ESL I don't see the problem. Most in europe get taught english english and not american vernacular. Though we get that influence through other media like vidya and hollywood, so we often use those two different styles interchaneably when speaking casually.
Seeing people on Yea Forums seethe over it is always baffling to me.
This user is a 100% correct. For fags that missed out on the witcher 3 they latched to cyberpunk. when they missed out on new leaf they latched on to new horizon what other games fit in this
>And the implication is, this is bad?
It is bad, yes. A real FPS game, such as Doom 2016 for example, lets you use whatever weapon you fucking like to use instead of artificially trying to force you to do a specific thing.
The glory kills ruin the games for me. If you replaced them for pickups the game would play much faster and it would encourage more exploration.
what's the problem you could literally boil down any task imaginable into "fit the shape into the hole"
I watched most of his vidya related videos recently and don't recall him even bringing up leftist talking points, let alone outright changing the subject to talk about politics or whatever. What did he even say that makes him left wing?
Is this the classic Yea Forums thing where someone says one thing one time and I'm supposed to let that discredit everything they ever say?
Anyway I liked his pathologic video, hope he makes one for 2.
fuck off child molester
It's a gameplay mechanic, it's not inherently bad, it's a design choice.
I can understand why someone would prefer the 2016 system, but for me Eternal was miles better. Eternal didn't hide it was a game, and that it had mechanics you should follow. It was a nice change of pace from usual.
>what other games fit in this
Persona
Dark souls
>gernades on a cool down
>pistol has infinite ammo
two choices I don't understand, I played the game with out using any weapons besides those because it was so broken, sure it was on normal but still I never felt like I could run out of ammo
>outspoken leftist gamer has absolutely horrendous opinions but is completely unashamed of having them
Should people with no self awareness be forced into lobotomies?
The gameplay is balanced around surviving by either dodging or getting good positioning on a near dead enemy. If you can do both well enough to never die, stuff like infinite ammo or grenade cooldowns vs limited ones don't matter. However, if you're not the top 99% of players, you usually want to kill enemies fast so you have less opportunity to get hit.
>even the tutorials in eternal are fucking dumb
Not even disagreeing they look dumb. But I liked the dedication of trying to not waste my fucking time. It was a decision in favour of a more arcadey pick up and play style of videogame.
Your other points like environmental storrytelling, leveldesign, story etc. I assume were in part because of the "immersive" qualities of 2016. 2016 Did pull that off quite well with a consistent tone to it (apart from the one long robot walk with me scene) but I personally didn't mind stepping away from it and focusing mostly on just gameplay with sometimes a few short cutscenes.
The game being though of as hard i guess comes from people coming from 2016 too, wich was absolutely braindead easy. (I died like, twice, on nightmare)
I died quite some times getting used to the new combat when i first started and then when i came back to play the first dlc wich ramped things up a bit.
I wonder how big the overlap in playerbases is between 2016 and eternal and what difficulties the majority played on. Because despite having the same dna they're quite polarising sides of what you can do with their base ideas. 2016 taking a safe and conventional approach with more respect to "realism" and an immersive setting. Eternal taking all that was new of 2016s mechanics and making a very focused arcadey experience around actually using that system but much expanded, with little regard for context outside some highschoolers epic metal doodlings and lore.
Weren't both games relatively popular with normies though? In big part because of marketing.
I never understood the vitriol about taking either decision. Not liking the weapon niche aproach sure, but it's a completely valid direction to take. Especially when resourcemanagement is a big component of your game and shooting the "wrong" weapon still does something. As long as your game is designed for it's fair game.
I just think its retarded every sci fi game has to have grenade cool downs, if I manage to some how run out of ammo in doom it should be a game over not "just use your decent pistol till you get some more."
Just looked him up
>3 hour vid channel
I am so SICK of these faggots. All they do is repeat themselves ad nauseum for 3 hours. They are too fucking stupid to shorten their videos and reach conclusions in a brief time
Brevity will always be the soul of wit and on the flip side verbosity is the heart of a retard.
Having cooldowns instead of a limited amount is there to prevent spam tactics while encouraging mixed use. After you play Eternal you can watch the game director play through Eternal on the hardest difficulty if you want to hear him talk about his design philosophy and "fun zone" idea.
Oh look a faggot who watches 3 hour vids and cant shorten his posts.
Google Breadtube, tard.
*first game they played so they lack the context of what's new or not
I played darksouls 1 first and so have a stronger reaction to it than demonsouls wich i played much later. I prefer Unreal 2k4 over og unreal tournament because of it too probably. (And the fact og unreal always ran weird on my rig and had shitty support for high fovs, but that's another story.)
Your take seems to be unnecessarily sour to appear a "real original gamer" desu, wich is a bit cringe if true.
>pistol
Wasn't that just obtainable via console because they scrapped it? Only 2016 had infinite ammo pistol dude.
I agree it doesn't fit every game. But Eternal it's consistent so i'm ok with it. Much like the other guy said it's too maintain "combo" of sorts where if you time and play your cards right you never actually have to wait and pause the action as abilities you once fired are already readied up as you finish up business with the available resources you have elsewhere in the meantime.
If that isn't appealing to you Eternal isn't for you.
I personally enjoy the more object permanence aproach of og dooms where there's a limited amount of resources you plan and adapt your run through the level to. Almost more like a survival horror game. Whereas Eternal is more a multiplayer match aproach where items respawn on timers.
KEK, if you're not gonna fucking read and discuss vidya visit a porn board
don't worry, your correct in using the "having an air of x", other guy is just retarded.
THIS
SO MUCH THIS
this is exactly what happened with MGSV Phantom Shit.
in short fuck "hype" chasing normalfags
I think it's the newer generation of zoomer or millennials misremembering what the old doom and older boomer shooters made them so great. I agree it's no bad, but it's just shallow and at best reasonably fun gameplay. However, it's 2020 already, they've had 20+ years to refine the boomer shooter formula since at least return to castle wolfenstein and they did absolutely nothing with it.
Because it's good
>did absolutely nothing with it.
How is FPS DMC-Quake with aggressive, varied enemies and mechanics that encourage close range aggression nothing?
Have you ever considered that it is your taste that's shit?
>shallow
Eternal's more complex than og doom THOUGH
Says the zoomer who only watched a MGS4 let’s play, played MGSV then claimed he knows the entire series
>dickrides 4 too
Can't make it up lol
This kills the elden fag
>just realized doom eternal is 2 years old
wtf it felt like a few months ago
As expected from an hbomber fan.
one is mechanic focused with your interaction almost exclusively lead around the enemies
and the other is almost purely leveldesign focused
they're different beasts completely outside being fpses with similar weapon rosters
I agree. 2016 barely did anything while eternal is the one that actually tried to something new.
Again, i prefer the og dooms by a landslide, but i really respect Eternal for committing to doing something new and mostly succeeding. The fact it did well with more mainstream audiences is interesting.
Corona my dude. Also the expansions came out spread out a bunch after.
Fug i forgot i actually never played TAG2.
Don't see how that makes eternal shallow rough and you're giving a bit to much credit to the arbitrary maze design in og doom something eternal still has outside of the arenas pretty much. But yes, the enemy encounter is much more mechanic heavy than shallow og doom
Yea Forums used to love hbomber for his New Vegas reviews but started hating him when he made a pro vaccine video.
More like he has a blip on the radar for his FO3 vid then became another blip on the radar for his DaS2 vid, but for the polar opposite reason.
>Don't see how that makes eternal shallow
I wasn't insinuating that.
What i mean is that og doom was about limiting the player to certain weapons and other health armor or powerup items and them having to deal with it in a certain level. So the gameplay is both about reacting quickly to ambushes, exploring, planning routes and item usage and managing ammo that is finite.
Eternals gameplay lacks that planning and adapting to situations with finite resources part.
Also generally combat arenas feel samey ish and don't impact gameplay all that much outside a few level i remember in TAG1. Whereas in og doom it does a lot more. I'd compare it to complexity and problems like in a fighting game where you have a bunch of moves you apply at the right time but the level is just an arbitrary box as opposed to a game with super simplistic enemies that serve more as obstacles with behaviour where you have to adapt to that environment as the main challenge.
I honestly never really liked 2016 and Eternals exploration outside arenas as it felt inconsequential. (Your ability to farm enemies for resources is more important than any items you find generally). Didn't hate it. But not as smoothly intertwined with gameplay as og doom where those pickups matter or extra shortcuts gives you more options to approach fights or routing around the level. Especially as said pickups in secrets matter way more.
I can do without the slow finding of resources to upgrade my abilites in Doom Eternal. The main reason i enjoyed TAG1 way more than the base game. It felt like Doom Eternal Tutorial where only at late game I feel like it plays as intended.
I do feel the slow buildup and good explanation of what shit does is the reason why got appreciated by normies more though. Outside marketing, it did explain well why and how the system works and got people to appreciate it more. Even if early levels tend to be harder that lategame ones if you know what you're doing.
