I HAAAAAATE that hedgehog's game
most sonic games don't
All Sonic games do.
Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog are 7/10s and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
Absolutely. Shitty level design and glitched up the ass. Not to mention Team Chaotix objectives
Music is so powerful I don't remember shit from this game but
>Sonic nerooooes
>t. played the ps2 version
Team Chaotix is only bad in the extra missions where you have to do every single objective. Their regular missions are easy.
Yes.
And even years later playing on Dolphin it's still not a good game.
These
Sounds like a skill issue.
>shitty level design
Only shitty ones are casino highway, bingo park, and rail canyon
>glitched
agreed
>team chaotix objectives
the objectives weren't that bad since there were often extra
>Only shitty ones are casino highway, bingo park, and rail canyon
Y'know funny you mention that user since those are typically the ones I stop playing the game as soon as I get to them in pretty much all of my playthrough attempts.
It doesn't help that those 3 levels are all consecutive
Also
>extra
Last I remember they were a pre requisite for completing the level unlike the other teams. Might be misremembering.
The other teams challenge modes' had objectives
Team Sonic had a time limit
Team Dark had to destroy all the enemies
Team Rose had to collect rings
But Chaotix's were completely unique.
I played the gamecube version and it was buggy as fuck
is the PS2 version seriously even worse?
The PS2 version is borderline unplayable.
lol, i played through the Xbox one and never encountered any bugs
these days i would roll with the native PC port because why wouldn't you.
I think heroes was interesting and a proper sequel would fix it, but the fucking issue with that is that the sequel to heroes was shadow the hedgehog. WHAT THE FUCK dude
they just had to polish the many small mechanics that were held together with duct tape like rail switching or ring dashing or pinball physics, and then give enemies less invincibility frames.
then they fucking doubled down on the chaotix gimmick and made it worse. why?
Mostly
Find and collect x
Don't get detected by x
Collect x amount of rings
Mystic Mansion's normal and extra mission are the most unique with the torches
Can confirm on PS2
>clipped through rails multiple times in Rail Canyon and Final Fortress
the chaotix mystic mansion challenge mode was fucking cancer because they use the camera against you to hide a blue flame right at the start of the level.
this shit would happen to me on ps2 shadow the hedgehog. the doom and lost impact wouldnt load shit fast enough when you opened doors and you would just walk into a void and fall into a death plane
It's all but confirmed that Sony bullied Sega into developing the 6th gen Sonic games around the PS2 first and foremost which forced them to change how they developed the game and it still was the worst of the bunch.
my dream is a Sonic Heroes 2, i autistically designed it in my head
-game boots and opens to a hubworld in place of main menu, akin to Sonic Jam or Sonic Adventure
-you assemble a customized team of 2 to 3 characters, can double up on speedsters if you just wanna go fast, it limits the routes you can take in levels, depending on the characters chosen you get special names like team time for example
-a dozen or so levels/acts that have semi randomized orders for more replayability
(my favorite aspect:)
-two multiplayer options that double as successors to Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters, racing through levels either with a single character or a team, and either 1 on 1 fights or as a tag team
and i of course thought about games that could come after and such, it would all be way too cool for Sega to do though.
uh that happened to me on the gamecube version too
that and enemies not registering hits
Were the emerald special stages just as terrible to control on gc and xbox? I got pissed because the speed character would do weird things like lose momentum, fall off the ceiling, or start walking backwards on turns
Control quality varies between platforms. The PS2 and PC versions handle the smoothest in both the main stages and special stages, while the Xbox and GameCube versions have their share of notable control issues. The Xbox version has rougher analog controls during the main stages but handles well in the special stages, while the GameCube version handles roughly throughout the whole game, partially due to the controller’s design.
What is your favorite character score ranking comment? Mines is Espio’s E Rank Comment lmao
At least the music was great while trying to find those damn torches
found them pretty easy on gamecube, not much in the form of glitches from what I remember.
And what is your favorite character boss clear comment? Mines is Tails’ Robot Carnival Comment hehehe
nah. SA2B is the best Sonic game, Heroes is the second best, Adventure DX is the third, and Shadow's solo game rounds out the top 4.
is that sampling of games from a very specific run of Sonic's career? absolutely. but i'm mostly a normal person who had a Sonic phase and grew out of it. superfans who've played every game in the series and watched all the cartoons probably have a much different list.

You know what’s also sad? The PS2 murdered the Dreamcast solely by having a DVD Player.
What hate? This game was great.
>Sega constantly rereleasing/masterj g 2D Sonic games
>Wont ever do a proper remaster collection for the Adventure saga 3D games
It's possible to miss rail switching if the rails are unaligned, though actually clipping doesn't seem to happen from my experience.
Don't know about anything regarding hits, maybe your disc is dirty?
The DreamCast deserved better, Yea Forumsros.
I played the GameCube version on the Wii and if you walked onto the upper half of the circle you would get sucked into the very top of it and had to jump to free yourself.
The DVD player is a piece of shit too. Mine can't hand FMVs or DVDs longer than a minute anymore
I can't believe people are triggered by signs that tell you which formation to use. Like you want the game to automatically switch for you?
I feel bad for all the kids in theaters who were excited to watch Sonic, Tails & Knuckles fight together as a trio against Eggman but they’ll never be able to play the one game where you can actually do that because it doesn’t have modern accessibility.
I mean come on, with the whole Echidna Tribe/Emerald backstory AND you-who-know coming, it’s literally the PERFECT opportunity to finally port these games for both newcomers and long time Adventure fans.
You can’t keep relying on le olde Genesis games until the end of time.
Ironically the Saturn and Dreamcasts versions of fighting games such as Darkstalkers and Marvel Vs Capcom are the superior versions from the PSX versions too.
Imagine if the 3rd movie does well and Sega considers remaking Shadow the Hedgehog
What's with all the heroes threads lately? Not mad just wondering. I love this game and replay it every now and then.
All of heroes's level design is bad
even the least bad ones, like the first two two stages, still have forced combat sections that completely kill your sense of flow/mometum, to say nothing of the other stages also having key/gate shit.
Worst controls I ever witnessed in a 3D platformer. Janky to a fault.
>shadow remake
Would buy. Original game was good with a great sound track.
>even the shill post has sonic and knuckles completely clip through the switch to ruin what would have been a mildly cool trick
Oh God, everything about the Snoy port was such a mess.
>LET’S BLAST THROUGH WITH SONIC SPEED!
>OKAY!
>ALRI—
>Last Sonic game before the entire cast got 4KIDSED
Holds a special place in my heart even if it is a glitch fest.
Yep. Game plays like slippery shit cause they just increased SA's sonic movement speed without much thought to level design. The flying characters just feel a bit awkward, less flying and more random spurts. Power probably feels the least ass, but has little going on and the whole health bar plus enemy arena shit creates very awkward breaks. The extra teams are just more of the same but worse with annoying objectives.
Also think the game looks worse than SA1/2 cause the plastic look is horrible. It doesn't help that your team constantly spazzes out, flying into shit and falling off every ledge. Sort of spoils the whole team feel.
this never happened to me
Actually that would be Sonic Advance 3
dog, i was like 12 years old. i wasn't taking notes for my half hour critical analysis on youtube.
IMPOSSIBLE FEAT
ULTIMATE
NINJA
POWER
this was a big part of why i didn't pick up another Sonic game after Heroes. Adventure into Adventure 2 into Heroes felt like a natural progression. Shadow the Hedgehog felt like a proper spin-off from that progression too. but after Shadow was... Riders, i think? Riders is a good spin-off in its own right. then the notorious Sonic '06. but after that it was mostly Nintendo spin-offs either on the DS or the original Wii. it never really felt like we continued to innovate after Heroes. everything stagnated and regressed.
meant to add that part of why i liked Shadow and Riders as spin-offs is because (at the time at least) it felt like they were testing out new features and ideas for the next mainline game. but Sonic '06 doesn't have any vehicles, hoverboards, guns, or special combat abilities like Chaos Blast. it's like they just tossed everything out to reimagine Sonic Adventure 1.
