Don't waste your time with the parts of the fanbase you don't like, because no matter how hard you try to make fun of them or make them feel like retards they will still be there to gobble up whatever shit you put on the plate to spite them. That spite will eventually consume you as you make shit content that you hate for people you don't like instead of something that you personally like for those with the same interests as you.
The homestuck kickstarter was initially done as a joke and its backfiring put Hussie's incompetence on display for the world to see. Even before that, Hussie was getting so comprehensively mindbroken by tumblr that by the end of it all he had turned into a gay juggalo with peanuts to his name, considering the success of homestuck. Meanwhile, Toby seems to still be mostly the same guy through all the insanity undertale attracted, and is basically set for life from here on out because he kept his head.
To be fair considering the games they did make I have no doubt TOG would still have shat the bed

And in the end the entire final arcs of Homestuck were extremely mediocre and somewhat unfocused while Hiveswap was underwhelming.
With homestuck i've just accepted it's not about how good it was, but about what it inspired.
He forced the people he hired to work on the webcomic instead and they got tired of being made to spend budget money on a side project and so they ditched it to finish up the other game they were working on, iirc

I'd also name Unsung Story - original devs (Playdek) did jack shit and stole all the money thanks to Matsuno's name in the title. New devs (Little Orbit) paid to buy the rights and picked up the project FOR FREE, but they ended up too unexperienced and the game looks like an ugly Unity project with zero similarities to Matsuno's games.
