I just finished Chrono Cross, again, what did you guys think of the remaster?

That's all that people found, yes. The game has basically no script changes beyond the first few hours, it very much seems like they initially planned to have more changes but gave up on it halfway through, which is why Mojo's dialogue ended up inconsistent.
Or given the quality of the port it's possible they had zero staff on board who could figure out how to modify the accent script.

I'm waiting on mods. The best thing about the Remaster is the moddability, and the renewed interest that has gotten a decent modding community going. In a couple years or so, we'll have something along the lines of the Moguri Mod, which will make it by far the definitive edition.

the first gameplay yes. game+ gets tedious. many people like it because of the music, it's considered still the best video game music and got a bunch of awards

So how does this shit perform on the switch? I saw it dips below 20 on PS5 and PC, but so far every switch review I've seen they don't mention the fps drops, so it's not there or they are so used to bad framerate it's normal to them.

The switch can't run ANYTHING at more than 20 fps so switch owners probably just didn't notice

I like the music a lot. Best soundtrack of any video game I have ever played. But the game is kinda awful. The story is more consulted and worse than Kingdom Hearts.

I played cross before trigger, cross overexplain things so you really don't need to know the lore of trigger to understand what is happening, if you know the names of the 4 main characters of trigger and the name of the last boss then you are set to play chrono cross, that's all you need to know, really. cross can stand as it's own game without much or none at all knowledge from the previous,

weird because I had to read like 30 minutes of explanation about lavos and lucca and chrono and the whole time travel bullshit that I already knew because I played chrono trigger, I bet you just skip dialogues and pay no attention to the cutscenes, the whole sea of eden and terra tower is nothing but the chrono trigger story.

The performance is equally bad on all platforms because it's bottlenecked by the emulator the release uses and the emulator is shitting itself because the new fonts are fucking 16k resolution.

Is anyone else getting hangups when transitioning to areas, talking to some NPCs, or the exact moment of initiating combat? The music never skips a beat, but the entire game just freezes up. This fucking game is eating up all my fucking cpu cycles no matter what resolution I put it on. Come the fuck on.

So is there any particular reason to play the remaster if I already have the original PS1 game and could just replay that instead? As far as I can tell from screenshots, it seems like they only did the bare minimum to call the game a "remaster" instead of just a re-release.
