It's really not that hard to deal with. Retail is... lonely. I play it just for nostalgia. Running around in my old server and remembering my friends and adventures from so long ago is... a surreal experience. The game just isn't what it once was and never will be again.

i actually really enjoyed the memory lane aspects of the anniversary livestream. shed a few tears seeing the community put out fireworks on Bahamut, and also the community screenshots. i forgot to submit my own pic but even seeing others screenshots i kinda knew what they were doing in that moment or why they were posing that way and it brought back my own memories of such events or NMs, etc. 20 years is really a long time and i think the livestream did a good job at celebrating those 20 years

You are gonna play by yourself so any job really. I'd recommend something like Warrior, Samurai, or Dark Knight though. Trusts are pretty decent tanks and so you can have fun with a DD.

Personally I really like samurai. Another huge benefit to playing it is if you want to play something like dragoon or warrior, it works really well as a subjob.

I picked Asura years ago when I started because I just wanted a high pop server
But every single shout is for mercs, and I think I could maybe hold my own now (Colada BLU + Machaera TP Bonus, mix of adhemar, herculean, and Ayanmo+2)
Are other servers better with people actually doing content?
I can afford enough V1VD runs to get Naegling and might just do that at this point

I had my most fun as BRD
Granted that was a long time ago, no idea how viable it is now.
