This seems like it would make the game boring considering alot of the enemies are still technically slow and rely on delayed attacks to roll catch along with nerfed rolls from BB and DS3.

The mod is still early in development. You can also deflect magic right now which is obviously unintended and the dude is working to remove it.

You don't have to use only rolls or only deflect or only shield though, you can use all 3. How is it boring to add more options?

The best you can get with a two handed weapon is 60% or so damage reduction, and that's for physical damage only. Elemental damage reductions are usually less than 20%.

So if you block a 1000+ hit, which isn't rare at all from bosses, you will still eat about 400 damage before mitigations, and somewhere around 300 after, assuming you have a lot of defensive shit. That's 300 damage you are eating for a guard counter, which doesn't even stance break in one go. While a shield user takes 0 damage.

I completely agree, which is why I think 100% damage reduction for two handers should be behind an execution barrier (aka timed block) while shields are allowed to just hold block indefinitely.

Unfixable at the moment because the param for her attack just has a blank heal applied for a hit. There is nothing to check for hit vs block vs parry, etc so the deflect can't be made to nullify the heal without just entirely removing the heal

I'm assuming it works like Sekiro where you could spam buffer L1 and deflect everything a boss throws at you with no risk regardless of timing until they throe out a perilous attack/grab.

You know, it actually makes it more fun since you can know deflect and counter instead of just rolling and waiting for your turn.

Perfect block doesn't consume stamina, but following with a counter does. Not perfectly deflecting consumes stamina and makes you take chip damage.

The combat is actually very good for an open world game with this build and enemy variety.

It's only average for a pure action game, however.

Yeah, ER modding is at a very early stage still, I wanted to enable torrent just for elden beast but couldn't without allowing it to be summoned everywhere.

Yeah there's still work to do but it's perfectly playable even now. Been using it for basically my whole NG+. There are problems that the modder is working on, for example parrying flurry of attacks is too clunky to work.
No, the deflect frames (6) are shorter than the shortest window in Sekiro, 7 frames which you get if you spam the button. This + the fact that you can't deflect flurries reliably makes it so that you can't spam deflect with this mod, you have to time it.

You could also just git gud and use parry if you want to do that? The standard Souls combat is based around stamina, movement, and risk/reward. Deflect from Sekiro is basically no risk, no stamina cost if done correctly which disables the risk/reward of not using a shield.

I used a shield for my whole playthrough. I refuse to roll. I parried Malenia to death. And this mod is great.
You don't need to cry and shit your pants any time someone is having fun.

Guard counters can be used with any weapon, but they are only REALLY viable for consistent use with shields. Therefore, it is fair to say that if you do not use a shield, you have one less option in combat to fall back on.

Shield users have to pump up their END to make shields actually work in the first place, a character that doesn't use a shield doesn't need to put points in END and can do other things.
Give weapons the same block capability that shields have and shields have no reason to exist anymore, especially since perfect block with weapons doesn't even consume much stamina at all, just admit you want the game to be as mindless as Sekiro and you don't want to deal with the RPG side of the game.

Guard counters deal a lot of stance damage, but not enough to stance break a boss in one use, meaning that you are basically sacrificing health for no reason. Sure, you get progress towards a stance break, but so does the shield user, at no health cost.
