just add selectable ray tracing features (shadow, lighting, reflection all toggleable individually on/off) and AI upscaled textures and voala I play all old games again

>Tesla's Tacos
But that was before Tesla was a thing, how did they know?

>no handrails
what did breen mean by this?

OSHA would never sign off on something like that? Where are the railings?

Suicide is always an option.

remember when it was easy to see things in video games

gaben is just musk in a fatsuit

Has anyone ever tried to make a single giant map of Black Mesa as a whole? I unironically would love to explore that kind of thing.

Does anyone remember the gay asian dude who made lets play videos but he talked about the level design of the games? He did HL1 and talked about this bit specifically giving context and the feeling of life to the game and it was really interesting, but I forgot his name

Is this from an expansion? I don't remember that zone.

I found it by typing in "gay asian level design half life" lmao

well worth a watch for anyone who likes video games

lol amazing how you find exactly what youre looking on yt

gonna check that out thanks user

That looks so comfy. Imagine going down and getting a taco on break; eating it while watching the new arrivals come in on that tram

you pass it on the tram in the very beginning

the constant echoing sound is probably annoying as hell though

I wish the BHL guy and MMod guy would collaborate and make the ultimative HL1 mod
This looks pretty sick

it's on the tram ride on blue shift

this is shit garbage

is he okay?

It's not possible since it's tied into the engine limitations, none of Valve's engines are designed to load that much shit at once. You would have to find an engine that can actually handle big, dense, complex worldspaces and port the Half Life 1 assets into it.

how come?

OSHA has no grounds when you're directly in the pocket of the DoD.

why is Aperture so creepy and unnerving compared to Black Mesa

Same nonsensical design and layout, but with much more detailed graphics than Black Mesa's blocky abstractions. Also the whole place is totally deserted despite being told explicitly that people died here.

Lol

Now that the dust has settled, was Prax Wars 2 a disappointment?

1>=3>>>>. im surprised the studio lasted through the debacle that was Prax Wars 2.

Radiator 2-1 when?

In what sense? In the test chambers or the actual offices and complexes you see?

Aperture presents itself as being sterile, isolated, and homogenized compared to Black Mesa's industrial complex, yet you can clearly see that years of neglect/abandonment has given it just the same amount of griminess in the environment.

Doesn't Source 2 has dynamic level loading like in open world games?

to making innovative games? yes I agree

both

your brain has been rotted by Yea Forums

Literally every Valve game (besides Ricochet, HL2, and Dota 2) has made me want to live and work in its settings

Attached: Screenshot_1 why the fuck would I want a webp google.jpg (2234x1248, 798.46K)

It does in the sense that it can fake seamless environmental transitions but from what Valve has shown and used it for the dynamic loading is more on the level of Metroid Prime than a true open world game. Still limited by the size of the map, so it would need to break down Black Mesa into smaller chunks and have areas that mask the loading like it does for Alyx. Alyx also used the dynamic loading for all those VR scan puzzles, basically loading the minigame directly into the map rather than having it be instanced over the rest of the game.

best valve type game is zombie panic source, co-op horror, free on steam

How many times have you posted this? Why? I hate giving you a reply but I need to know.

mirage is the where its at

It'd be really cool to do urban exploring in, but then in you want to be a resident you either have to be a sterile 1984 oppressee or a sterile mutilated guy in a cool suit, alternatively a resistance hobo or a stalker (the anorexic one not the slavic one)

>mirage
nah dude, it's office for me

heh, maybe on vacation, but the rest of the year I'd like to focus on my career at cs_comfy_90s office

Attached: css-1308-cs_office_extended-3.jpg (800x498, 43.86K)

Aperture Science is intentionally presented as very sleek, clean but ultimately very sterile type of environment, one that stands in stark contrast with everything else you see in the rest of the Half Life games even before everything went to complete shit. You're almost left wondering what the fuck the place is even for because shit just feels off especially with the structural decay seen in Portal 2.
Compare that to Black Mesa where despite having similar nonsensical layouts and rooms mostly due to game design, it feels more like an environment that's lived in with human activity.

Black Mesa = Sovl
Aperture Science = Soulless

Simple as.

Or just live in comfy White Forest and carry around crates of science stuff for the eggheads.

DO YOU SUCK DICKS

Zoomies have ADHD and need bloom and volumetric fog to avoid an information overload

This cafeteria really bothers me. It's built into a flooded sinkhole with a view of a tram rail, and there's only like 7 tables in an area that could hold over twice that in a facility with like 10000 employees. I know the crate smashing room just shuts down any discussion about Black Mesa making no sense, but they clearly tried to make something that makes sense here.

>We have to go back
Yes. We have to nuke the world back to 1998, now.

Fuck off, OSHA.

calm down kim

>I found it by typing in "gay asian level design half life" lmao
google and online searching as a medium is borderline thought reading.

amoun gus

There would be more than one cafeteria. The one you see is just a dinky little taco stand.

>AHHHHHHHHHH
>UGHHUGUGHHHHH
>thats odd...

All the backroom stuff in Aperture in P1 was really great. The test chambers and pathways are all clean and nice but you peel back a test wall and it looks like you're just in fucking hell or something and you can't even really tell how exactly the facility is layed out or how it functions. P2 not only overexplained it but they also basically got rid of the hell aesthetic. You go from something that feels like an alternate dimension to just "oh it's a cave system with some oversized DIN rails holding rooms together"

I always wondered why there were never any corpses despite everyone clearly having been killed by glados
