i got the game recently and i havent played a ton but i feel like the weapon that freezes the monsters is broken no? once you get a few levels into it its always up and you can just walk into the packs of monsters unharmed if you get crowded.

Why freeze when you can just kill them?

garlic just gives you an early game power spike at the cost of having a wasted weapon slot in late game.

easy early game lets you set up quick for the mid and late game. garlic gives me the easiest time reaching 30 minutes.

but early game already is super easy. There are so many incredibly powerful combinations now that arcanas were introduced to the game that there is hardly ever a reason to go with garlic.

I really enjoy playing it on my steamdeck.

I believe that steamdeck helps making it more popular than before.

runetracer and knife are both kind of bad, knife is only ok if you're on a one-direction stage like library or tower and continue walking in one direction the whole time. runetracer is good very early but endgame falls off pretty hard, and the requirement of armor which is one of the worst passives to evolve it sucks dick.

garlic is actually preferable because later on you can get incidental healing from it + that arcana that causes damage for heals, that's actually not bad in terms of raw aoe damage but the pummarola or whatever recovery item you need to evolve it also fucking sucks dick.

the correct build is always phiera de tupalo or whatever the fuck that is, + its counterpart, evolved with tiragisu which you then revive spam til you burn through it and replace with something else, + la borra (the best weapon in the game by far), ascended fire wand and either whip or axes + your personal preference for the other slots. holy cross is actually good if you get the bounce arcana just don't evolve it, magic wand kinda sucks even evolved but the empty tome is one of the best passives so it's usually a gimme.

Runetracer without the upgrade was top 3 weapon in the game, and now with the upgrade is the solid top 2.

Garlic on the other hand has absolute trash damage, with an early evolution not even breakind 1m damage.
