They should’ve had Yujin as the defendant like was originally planned. Not only does Yujin have greater stakes in GAA2's overall plot but him being the accused clears up plot holes like why no one knew about the poison going missing. Rei's inclusion feels like an incredibly last minute decision and the only reason why she isn’t universally despised is because of yuribait

I think they should do AA7 to wrap up the phoenix wright saga once and for all then hard reboot the series with new characters. I liked the element of magic added to the professor layton crossover, maybe they could have a fantasy style ace attorney where they bring that back

That would've closed 2-1 better, but would have lessened the moment in 2-4 when Gregson was gone, Kazuma had admitted to being part of the assassin exchange, and genuinely anyone could have been part of the conspiracy. Yujin seemed pretty shady in the first case because of the talk of government secrets, so absolving him in the first case would have removed that ambiguity

I should clarify, it’s a very critical plot detail that Rei/Menimemo are the only ones who knew about the poison going missing. Rei doesn’t tell Yujin about the missing poison for some reason and Yujin doesn’t realize the poison is gone until he reads it in the paper. It’s clear they wrote this plot point with Yujin being the defendant because otherwise this just serves to make Yujin look incompetent.
