It's also why every UI is so ugly, and minimalistic, with contrasting colors now

Because it lets you see more of the action on the screen instead of covering half of it up with a useless gun or arm.

Because guns are pretty and I actually want to look at them close up
If you move the gun far away from me where I can barely see it then you missed the point of making an FPS

why ask? they fps makers are obviously incompetent and have no brain

>see more of the fucking ground
I sure hope the baddies don’t come to me and step on my feetsies

>guns are pretty

>lets fill the 90% of the screen with the arm
you already make fps right OP?

Because what possible fucking advantage is there to covering up a huge portion of the screen with a fucking arm, while putting the gun (something you do want to see) at a less visible?

A little tip; anytime you come across some game design element and you have the thought "that's not how it is in real life, it should be like it is in real life" without any concern for it works as a game, you should always follow up your thought with "I should slam a car door on penis as negative reinforcement to keep me from thinking something so fucking retarded again."

Nobody wants to look at a mile of arm. You want to see the gun.

why is the gun still skewed to the side in the "realistic" pic?
just take arm angle from "realistic" and gun angle from "doom" and it looks correct.

Muh reelism /k/ fags are usually malnourished alt-right """femboys""", let them ferment in their idiocy.

Did he fucking stutter

What advantage is there to covering up a huge portion of the screen with the gun?

>rear sight on the front of the gun
Lol
First image is hip shot/point shooting. Basically high ready. When you ads/hardscope, your character actually brings it in line with your eye. Like image two, except image two is a horrible shooting stance. Ghetto tier, if you just turn the gun sideways. Have no idea what noguns drew this, but the irony, of bitching about visual representations of firearms in videogames when your own examples are retarded as fuck is pretty funny.
Also second image on the right would produce the third image on the left as a sight picture, if you're using that terrible stance from the second right image.
>t. Licensed, armed security /k/ommando

The explanation I once heard for this is the hand should be about where it would be if you held your arm out extended towards the computer monitor. That's why so many games just show your hands and the gun rather than your full arm, it's a natural distance from your eyes specifically, rather than the in game camera.

who cares about realism. play cocksucking simulator if you want reality

3rd person games are the worse, like 1/3 or even 2/3 of the screen is blocked by your character.

>GAMES HAVE TO BE REALSTIC!!

>/k/
>alt-right
/pol/ despised /k/ though

because realism doesn't necessarily mean good
would you like all fps games to make you put each bullet in a mag before starting a match?

>Because guns are pretty and I actually want to look at them close up
That can be arranged.

>GAMES HAVE TO BE SHITTY

Attached: 1652017156085.png (465x420, 37.2K)

This is why good shooters put the crosshair 2/3rds down the screen rather than dead center.

Makes sense, /pol/ has a very palpable sense of self-loathe

I agree, this really holds Elden Ring back. Imagine how much better Souls games would be if it kept KF's 1st person perspective.

No one said that.

I still miss it Yea Forumsro's

Based. Fuck any pathetic soifest of a "man" who doesn't like guns. Wish i could have on in hands like the ameribros

Yeah, pretty much. The Pinnacle of practical problem solving. All of Man's ire and rage poured into a mechanical mousetrap that casts Power Word Kill using alchemy and mathematics. Honestly only jet engines are really up there with guns on the elegant beauty scale.

Kind of deviating a bit. Drawing extends arm while game is aiming from the hip.

Are you retarded? You don't have to show the armor you utter moron. You can literally move the arm down, so that you can only see the gun.
Guns being close to the screen looks stupid, especially for pistols, since they look too huge and unrealistic.

On what fucking planet do you hold a gun with your arm fully extended?

>accuse them of what you are

Communicates what weapon you have equipped, the most important piece of information in any FPS.
Guns (in FPS that doesn't suck) look cool and seeing them fire up close is a big part of the presentation, you're not going to get nearly the same satisfaction from the the meaty blast of a good shotgun if you don't also have that blast and recoil taking up a chunk of the screen.
And most importantly, it puts you closest to the action. It's an FPS, you are a floating gun for all intents and purposes you want to feel like you're in the center of it. Go play Jurassic Park Trespasser, or a game where you can turn off the weapon view. It feels like your just sliding around without any physical relation to the gun fights going on, because you need that gun as your connection action.

I want to molest Mashiro.

The top one is the correct one. You are sitting an arms length away from your monitor, your eyes aren't in direct contact with your screen.
Middle one would mean your arm is twice as long, which is stupid.
Bottom one is just a stylistic choice.

Gun threads read like a killer's manifesto most of the time, absolute fetishism.

Designing based on your majority audience playing a TVs and the rule of cool. Black's guns still look cool to me more than 15 years after release. youtube.com/watch?v=AX0E_PGhbXs

how can anyone honestly say they don't want to go ball deep into this sexy ass barrel after just looking at it

Attached: 1648692697301.jpg (209x242, 5.54K)

these angles and designs have been common place since the advent of the genre.

There are better ways to remove your dick than blowing it off, trannoid.

>Communicates what weapon you have equipped
Console faggot detected. You can clearly tell what gun you have equipped on a monitor in games that have realistic view model.
>you're not going to get nearly the same satisfaction from the the meaty blast of a good shotgun if you don't also have that blast and recoil taking up a chunk of the screen
Is this why every tactical game that has a realistic view model, has much more satisfying recoil and animations, than shit like fallout 4, or doom?

Face it: europoor gunlets are retards who think that left handed casing ejectors, and huge fucking guns on the screen are somehow cool

How come the bullets don't fall out?

I played a ton of UT99 when I was younger
do people play these games purely for the offline at all?

>Communicates what weapon you have equipped
How fucking poor eyesight does one have if that can't be read at an arm's length, coming at the cost of obscuring tons of shit near the horizon you are looking at.
>And most importantly, it puts you closest to the action
Portraying the gun in an unrealistic position does the exact opposite of that. It exacerbates the feeling of being a floating camera with a gun attached, rather than being an actual person immersed in the shooting action.

You posted an example of the top image.

Tabg does it better

>no, look, I know this genre has been around for 30+ years, but it's always been shit other than this specific 2018 game
>if you disagree you're europoor gunlet, just like all those fuckers from id and Epic
Eat the lead you love so much, it goes well with the iron sights.
Fuck off.

The end of most bullets are a little wider at the end so in the case of a revolver the casing can only go out one way.

this

>Top example
>Gun is miniscule compared to the arm and hands form that perspective
Sure thing.

Sake of convenience for game, I suppose.
Too much arm on the screen looks weird and unintuitive from that camera perspective.

Because it's used to telegraph information to the player. Sure you might laugh but being able to see what gun you have out is helpful.

>Face it: europoor gunlets are retards who think that left handed casing ejectors, and huge fucking guns on the screen are somehow cool
Americans are the ones designing most FPS games in the first place. Meanwhile, other counter-examples posted in this thread are Canadian and Swedish respectively.

Absolutely rent free.

This one's far better
