Faggot: The OP

quintessential reddit game. impossible to dislike and does nothing revolutionary, on top of having reddit humor

Average game at best that's only remembered because of le epic memes

>everything I dont like is reddit
fucking tourist

Contrarianism: The Thread

>tourist
You must be new here

Everyone deciding to be contrarian isn't going to suddenly make me start disliking this game.

My point exactly. Fuck off and dont come back.

reminder that saying a game is overhyped and overrated is not being a contrarian you fucking retard.

ok and?

>overhyped
>overrated
what's next on the list of contrarian buzzwords, "pretentious"?

The game is FUN
Which is what games are about
So fuck you

it doesn't have to be but it's the only reason you're saying it and you're a faggot

>saying a game is overrated is being a contrarian
you are unironically an npc or a false flagger who REALLY hates this game lol. You're at the point where the only way someone can criticize the game in any way is if people are pretending to hate it.

Attached: 1544666488381.jpg (171x218, 14.13K)

game's not overrated or overhyped, sorry pal you eat cock for breakfast

Yeah voice in my head, I'm mad. He insulted a thing I enjoyed.

it's more that this only popped up with people memeing it more recently as a backlash rather than addressing the actual flaws of the game
>the stealth mechanics being included almost vestigially and despite them rewarding more they're almost always less fun in most circumstances
>Kojima fucking up and not explaining anything about MGS2 to MGS4 for Raiden like this story was supposed to
>how clunky the side weapons are implemented and are more or less really heavily handled rather than flowing naturally into combos
like, saying a game is overrated is fine but you had literally no actual critique beyond popular bad you retard. There's actual flaws to address and you said nothing of sustenance this entire thread.

When this game released, RULES OF NATURE was spammed on this board for months.
Soon, that will have been ten years ago.
I'm sorry that your first experience with this game was clicking on a video in discord and expecting something else.

based

>impossible to dislike and does nothing revolutionary, on top of having reddit humor
that's my thoughts and that's a valid thing to say about the game. it's the retards mgs entry for people to larp as mgs fans. if pointing this out gets me (you)s I will keep doing it

This game is excellent even if heavily flawed. I really wish we could get a sequel, but I know Metal Gear is dead.

mgs sucks fucking dick you retard

I agree but I never played this

Interesting. Is Reddit in the room with you right now?

as i said, nothing of substance. There's like mechanical, story, and other flaws to discuss but you're literally going for
>impossible to dislike
opinion and a stupid one at that, i know plenty of people who don't like MGR
>does nothing revolutionary
"What is blade mode"
>Reddit Humor
a term highly subjective on a subject extremely subjective . Like you literally picked the worst things to point out. Telling people that the VR missions in MGR are mostly irrelevant side content that focus on stupid things rather than the swordplay instead of on things like the Stealth or aiming shit like grenades and rocket launchers is a lot more easy to point out and prove. You argue in bad faith rather than actually wanting to address the game.

It’s a very good game, possibly Platinum’s magnum opus. It’s just being memed hard right now because >the memes and >make america great again

>fun
Top fucking kek

>fun is a buzzword
only on Yea Forums.

The only good game Platinum has ever made

>It’s a very good game, possibly Platinum’s magnum opus.
It's the worst of their good games.

>possibly Platinum’s magnum opus.
>no enemy variety
>can't switch weapons on fly
>sub weapons have 2-4 moves
>brown and grey boxes instead of level design
Heh

I never said anything about fun being a buzzword, you insecure schizo

Platinum have never made anything good, to be fair.

>You argue in bad faith
stop watching eceleb debatebros. All I did was point out that the game is not revolutionary enough to warrant this much attention a decade after it came out. The only thing you can do besides meandering is respond telling me that blade mode is revolutionary when it's clearly not. There's nothing intelligent about cutting guys with a sword. it's not used in some kind of clever way, it's the same system from the start of the game. It gets old in the first 30 minutes.

>February 2013
>Finished it and making it my ideal "next-gen" game and hoping they will be more like MGR
>fast forward to 2022
Is it too much to ask ? I just wanted more kino ost like youtube.com/watch?v=d89csFusQyE

Okay, what’s their best game then? Star Fox Zero? That game with the only redeeming quality being 2B?

holy based

revengenance is the only good metal gear game

your about 5 years late my broski

Bayonetta. Even with all qtes, gow-tier bosses and gimmick sections

No seriously, what have they made that was good? Bayonetta pass, Wonderful 101 lol nobody played that, Astral Chain only on switch try again, Bayonetta 2? Holy fuck Harriet! The retards fuckin' our gol durn chickens again! Memevengeance well hold my hand while you finish inside me... it's nothing to write home about.

This is basic discourse retard, you gotta at least try and make a point without your point being stupid shit.
Blade Mode was revolutionary for the time both in the ability to slice up enemies and objects into pieces that many games even today don't bother rendering while also allowing for limb damage to alter how enemies fight as you are able to disarm them and remove limbs. Removing an opponents sword arm forces them to stop attacking with their weapon chopping off their legs forces them into a crawling state and removing all their limbs reduces tougher enemies to writhing around on the ground. It's simple and basic but where you cut actually has a purpose beyond mere aesthetic and serves as a visual and gameplay spectacle. It is then added on to with the matter of certain enemies having data stored on their hand and having to use precise cuts to remove the arm before you kill them. It adds another layer on target prioritization.

based

user.
Deadspace did it in 2008.

other games have done this way better. all that happens is the enemy gets weaker, there's no drastic change. they just cant use a grab attack, or strong attack, or whatever. it's really not as interesting as you're making it out to be.

Anarchy Reigns

You're a fan of rock and roll, aren't you?

Cool another game nobody played.

Who doesn't like cocaine?

>Blade Mode was revolutionary for the time both in the ability to slice up enemies and objects into pieces that many games even today don't bother rendering while also allowing for limb damage to alter how enemies fight as you are able to disarm them and remove limbs
Ninja gayden 2 did it better

>virtuos studios working on next gen metal gear rising remaster for ps5 and xbox series x, will include playable teaser for "metal gear revelry," "horror"-themed prequel to metal gear rising, it's basically metal gear solid: rising but with an actual plot, the villain lady is fucking hot and trannies will want to censor her the minute they see her
>Platinum literally said no to developing the game lol, one of the first trailer proofs of concept (the first few are usually just piss-takes to set up one single shot while the rest are nonsense) literally says "lightning shines brighter than platinum" as a gotcha. It's being entirely done by Production Studio 8 with a few of the freelancers who worked on Platinum, including Etsu Tamari. Another joke pitch had the tagline "From the guy who wrote 'I'm fucking invincible!'"
Just imagine if this actually happened. Sure, people are gonna be excited for MGS3 remake, either way. But if they could announce MGS3 remake AND a new Rising game at the same show, it'd nuke every other showcase.

Attached: 44d.gif (500x275, 1.79M)

Fpbp as always

It was good. It was fun. It had a sick soundtrack.

The only reason there's ANY hate right now on Yea Forums for it is because of its weird fucking resurgence. Everyone here loved it, and anyone that says they didn't wasn't here or is being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.

It's fun to play and does a lot of things right. but while I don't hate it I think its way too linear and short compared to the other mgs games. And the DLCs barely count as more content. After 10 years of the same memes being spammed I understand why people are getting sick of it.

Bruh, I was pointing out the mechanics that Blade Mode has a gameplay purpose to it as nobody really talks about blade mode beyond SLICE SLICE SLICE. Besides if we want to get specific soldier of fortune did it in 2000 as well as eternal darkness. The selling point wasn't that you never chopped off somebody's limb before but that you could slice and dice them up HARD. Actually that does bring to mind that killing bosses wouldn't have the catharsis you get if you didn't get to slice up.
Also desu in Dead Space you didn't really get to enjoy the dismemberment for very long since most of the necromorphs usually died after the second limb removed so you couldn't make nuggets out of them.
>no drastic change
>both a visual change where any part you cut us notably altered with the model
>physical change in how they fight
That's literally a drastic change.
Why does Ninja Gaiden fags always have to shill it and Black any time an action game comes up and prove its the best at anything? You guys are the linuxfags of action games.

>Bandwagon
This shit was already well liked before whatever the fuck made it surge even more in recent days.
Hating on something because it's popular isn't healthy.

wow bro when you attack a guy they get weaker and even look weaker. no game has ever done that before. that definitely was revolutionary and set the trend, that right there

>cutting off the guys leg means he can't walk anymore with the model reflecting the exact area where you cut off his leg
its the visual and the gameplay coming together. you ignore one for the other.

>before whatever the fuck made it surge even more in recent days.
I frankly suspect viral marketing. Konami are logically going to have an E3 showcase even though E3 is canned. And back in July last year, there was an user who claimed that one of the games Konami was making was a Raiden spinoff by Konami and some ex-Platinum people. IF this rumour were true, it would be awfully convenient for big youtubers to "discover" Metal Gear Rising just in time for Konami to announce a prequel next month, as well as a remaster of the first game.
This isn't reliable rumour shit. Reliable rumour shit says that Konami are remaking MGS 3 and Virtuos are doing most of the work. But... Konami do love multiple projects. Reliable sources say that they have multiple Silent Hill games coming, not just one. So... why not multiple Metal Gear games? I feel like something is brewing.

Actually, what other game even did this in the way MGR did?

That gives me hope, but given how Konami turned out in recent years, I honestly can't be happy about this if it turns out to be real.

I can't think of many games where swords actually cut if I'm gonna be honest. Regardless of whether it's a movie, a game or a book, swords are always sort of blunt objects that work like bats unless the enemy is a robot/cyborg/monster/regenerator.

I remember on m+kb all you had to do was spam W to never take damage. Rushed through the game in maybe 5 hours and never touched it again

Attached: 1624317611755.jpg (300x340, 43.49K)

haha wtf? like every game

dark souls sif gets weaker and visibly weaker
metal gear solid 2 even has limb damage (came out in 2002)
dead space practically every enemy
resident evil 4 enemies

I don't even know why you make this argument

There's only one other game coming to mind, and it was a trailer from way back, for the fucking... Wii? I think it was called Red Steel, but I don't even remember if the sword cut where you slice in it, I just remember there was a sword in the gameplay trailer that you could swing around.

not many have anything beyond limb based damage where if you damage the limb its crippled or gibbed. Blade Mode was really unique as there's not a lot of games with anything that's free cutting where you can like say aim a shotgun and blow off a guy's hand if you aim at the hand but if you aim at the wrist you blow off his wrist. It's really unique for that.
As he said. the best you might get is left for dead where they attempt to give the best model alterations for bladed melee damage and gibs because valve is really anal like that. There might be VR games that do the same.

you have no idea what you're talking about please stop talking.
LIMB DAMAGE DOES NOT EQUAL FREE CUTTING you stupid fuck.

I still love him despite the resurgence but the problem is that when I heard someone IRL mentioning standing here I realize I thought I could talk to him about the game only to realize they were just referring to the misplaced and misinterpreted one. They looked at me with a dumbfounded look and said "oh no it's a shame I didn't play it I was just laughing about this tiktok video"
Such a shame. I told them to try the game after the party ended so maybe they will enjoy it

Attached: FRlXahYaQAA_3mF.jpg (1253x861, 280.48K)

>dark souls sif gets weaker and visibly weaker
No, Sif only gets weaker at like a 5% threshold. There is no 'getting weaker' through the fight. It's from healthy state to weakened state.

>dead space practically every enemy
Just limbs, and not where you cut them. You can shoot a hand five times and the shoulder will sever.

My memory on MGS2 and RE4 is really bad. But you get the picture, judging that you're wrong twice already you're probably wrong with those too.

Why did you even make this response lol?

Attached: 135.png (200x200, 27.66K)

The game is just good and no amount of coping and seething will change that

stop trying to move the goalpost dumb faggot, you replied to ME saying what other games do this. I made the criteria you braindead monkey. sorry the guy in dead space doesn't use a samurai sword so uhhh it just doesnt count. dumb tard

good game good music. Enjoy it.

youtube.com/watch?v=7RqD2ClRUEc

Unironically this although admittedly I enjoyed the last 1/4 of MGS4.

STANDING HERE
I REALISE

It's a solid entry point to hack n slash games. You can mash and feel like you're doing cool combos and the parry being attack helps ease players into learning a crucial high level defensive mechanic in other games. It's not the greatest game and has trash features like broken stealth, but it's still a fine game

>everyone who replies to me on Yea Forums is the same person
retard.
>say blatantly wrong shit
>get told wrong
>being wrong = goalpost moving

WASH AWAY THE ANGER

Thread ended here.

yea you literally can't follow a trail of replies, opinion discarded

Most iconic hack and slash game other than the DMC series

Prove me wrong

OP blown the fuck out and is still seething as we speak.

>le comes out of sewer in sombrero
>LE MEMES JACK
yes, this game is painfully unfunny, nobody talks about the gameplay because it's fucking ass all people do is quote cutscenes endlessly and make le donald trump parallels with the funny senator man

The game is fucking retard was parry 2 win garbage where everything between boss fights is a blur of garbage. The game is mechanically less complex than fucking devil may cry 1 and sub weapons were a huge afterthought and shit relegated to a button hold rather than being switchable.

No he's right, the second reply to your post is who you were actually talking to, me.

>op still seething when one mild criticism is responded to by 5 fanboys trying to prove him wrong continuously

>Donald Trump parallels
