>bought almost 6 controllers
>All of them had a horrible Dpad
>The closest one that has a good one was a chink one but it doesn't deal with multiple inputs well
I'm about to shell out $90 for an Xbox hori fight pad. I'm going insane.
>bought almost 6 controllers

I'm about to shell out $90 for an Xbox hori fight pad. I'm going insane.
D-Pads are inherently flawed. The problem is no one's managed to think of a perfect replacement. Every attempt at resolving the D-pad's problems simply introduces new ones.
There is nothing wrong with the Dpad on Xbox or Sega Saturn 3D controllers.
If you're getting this for fighting games you are doing it wrong and that's why you are struggling.
It's not economically viable to reinvent the wheel, look at the steam controller
3ds and DS had perfect dads.
They felt a little frail but that's because they're on portable.
The wheel adequately does what it needs to do, but no individual D-pad has ever done everything that you could conceivably need a D-pad to do.
Why are you not using Xbox series if you're complaining about dpad?
The DS dpad is fucking king, I was fucking amazing at snaking in Mario kart ds with that thing
Reminder that you'll never own one of those prototype DualShock 4 with the Vita dpad
>tactile
>4 separate buttons (optional)
vita is the closest to perfection, but it's one piece of plastic underneath
Segmented dpads are inherently garbage as are ps stick layouts
Which games even use dpads any more besides fighting games?
Long live Sidewinder dpad
Fuck Shitendo-esque dpad
just make your own bro
Hori pad is great, I've used mine for years. Even got the Switch version (which doesn't feel as good for some reason).
vita dpads not segmented retard
i hate the fact that these also replace the face/shoulder buttons
How's the quality on one of these?
Are thess good or not?
I just like one for playing platformers/2d games
>but it's one piece of plastic underneath
As opposed to...what?
The joycon's "dpad"?
Real question here. Not starting a shitwar or anything. Do people actually prefer clicky dpads? I didnt knoe xbox controllers had a clicky dpad but liked the design and got one and absolutely hate it. After a while it hurts my fingers and platforming in general feels worse. I ended up reverting to my dualshock 2 with some chink USB adapter. Is there really no cross style dpad with rubber dome?
they just make them clicky and the buttons rattle because there's no silicon layer in-between the buttons and switches like there are on the vita
>The dpad hurt my fingers!
Lol fucking loser
The only ones I like are the Nintendo ones, are they propriety or some shit? Their D pads are always the most responsive and comfortable.
Not the switch pro controller dpad
people have liked it since the NES, yeah.
neo geo pocket already solved the d pad but nobody wanted to copy it for whatever reason
>Buy 8bitdo SN30+ Pro controller a while ago
>d-pad ends up being hot garbage
>That controller breaks after a couple of years
>Hear about the Pro 2
>Give it a shot
>They actually made the d-pad feel better
I'm glad they actually listened to the feedback because the d-pad was like my biggest issue with the first one.
>t. 8bitdo employee
i think xbone clicky dpad is very good for fighting games, its very precise like i know with 100% certainty that im going to pull off 236236 when needed without accidentally jumping because i can "feel" each click
but yeah i can see where it could end up being tiresome after awhile in some platformer, regular "soft" dpad would be better for that
>Buy garbage chinkshit
>Do it again because you're too stupid to buy an Xbox controller
Always funny to see shills of rival products trying to out-shill each other.
the vitas clicky dpads (probably one of the best ever made) isnt like the xbones since the vita also has a silicone layer
Are those neogeo pro pads any good
There is nothing wrong with the d-pad. The d-pad was patented by nintendo so other companies come up with retarded solutions like playstation's d-pad which are very shit. The d-pad on the switch lite works perfectly but switch the pro-controller has a design flaw that makes it rock back and forth unreliably
8bitdo isn't a rival product to Xbox controllers. It's shit that exists solely to take advantage of anti-mainstream teenage retards.
The Genesis 6-button controller d-pad is godlike.
>The d-pad was patented by nintendo so other companies come up with retarded solutions
False only the external design is patented
The NES is rubber dome tho. Not microswitches
>forced to buy segmented d-pad from them unless you like constant accidental diagonals
>played resident evil 1-3 on duckstation
>d-pad now misses inputs if I don't press hard enough
Unfortunately, not good.
What? Calm down, I'm just saying it's not segmented.
Awful d-pad.
>you didnt beat the game unless you played on a controller thats uncomfortable to hold
>muh official Brand
i had chink 360 replica pad that served 6 years before sticks finally started drifting a little
meanwhile new original xbone pad i got to replace it had sticks drift after just 6 months
chink copies doesn't always mean its going to be shit, its gamble on both side but you keep consooming, goy
and nothing about is patented anymore as it expired so what's all these companies excuses now?
At least non-chink products can be returned or repaired
I work at a sandwich shop making minimum wage. I just like the controller I bought.
897
the psp go had the best dpad i ever used.
squishy and responsive. super fast reaction times.
Never tried a vita, only the PSP.
I dont like fighting games, mostly play platformers. Makes sense for that tho. With platformers you gotta hold one directional button for long periods of time and it starts hurting your fingers after a while due to not having any cushioning unlike rubber dome
Xbox series is industry leading dpad
So bad to hold both other companies copied the shape
Stick drift is a zoomer problem caused by pushing too hard
There is no need for excuses as Xbox series has better dpad than any Nintendo ever did.
Wtf is that
Xbox series is inspired by it
>So bad to hold both other companies copied the shape
The shape isnt the problem. I like the shape. I dont like the use of microswitches vs rubber dome. I prefer the squishy feeling as it provides nice padding for holding a button down for long. More comfortable for platforming
Stick with microswitches. Kinda like a thumbstick version of an arcade stick.
the kino stick
that's just a bad joystick
>There is no need for excuses as Xbox series has better dpad than any Nintendo ever did.
Delusional as shit.
No Nintendo dpad was ever great and Xbox series is best since Saturn. Stop being a brand baby and respect when someone makes things better for everyone.
ITT people you can clearly tell never used a series x/s controller
Haven't tried it desu
>HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE A GOOD DPAD
2D games are not mainstream so the D-Pad are always an after thought for them to make, and the people who used to design controllers in the past are long gone from the industry.
