inb4 shitters crying that they can't into linux.
Should video games be open-source? That would benefit macOS, Haiku, the BSDs, OpenIndiana, SerenityOS, etc., and that's not okay.
>Should video games be open-source
Yes.
>and that's not okay
Yes it is, you fucking retard.
They are competition to Linux, especially those who are not macOS.
Finally. I've been waiting all day for a Linux thread but I was too stupid to make one myself.
>open-source games are LE BAD because they can be ported to other operating systems!
Dumb bait.
>Dumb bait.
The users of those OS' made the wrong choice. They should install Linux next time.
Go back to making some stupid console war thread. No one cares.
Okay, sure. Mac users are big fat poopy heads. Your other post is still dumb though. Open-source games being easily portable is most often the only reason I'm able to play them on Linux in the first place. I don't care if some Mac user also gets to play some of them. Go buy a console if you want to wank to exclusive games. Or just install Windows. When a PC game is locked to a single operating system, it's almost always Windows. When a PC game is locked to two operating systems, it's usually on Windows and Mac. Games being less portable does not benefit Linux.
Did you update today?
Of course.
Updates?
I did now. New Mesa update, very exciting, thanks user!
tranny gaming thread? tranny gaming thread.
how do i fix this error
Easiest way to fix it is to stop using irqbalance, the kernel handles that much better by itself now.
every 5 mins
>Games
No
>Engines
Ya
Also developers that intentionally break ports are gay lords.
Holy fuck
github.com
Has anyone used this?
anyone know why sometimes my input will drop when playing wow
like if i'll be using abilities and moving around and press s to strafe left it'll be like i never pressed s
seems to only happen on the s key too
Game code is as important as the engine code, if not more.
aharen is cute & funny haha
>no screenshots of games running on Linux
sad!
I'm actually thinking about installing Linux to play vidya because it has no drm and Joe Biden forces me to buy weapons for shady individuals instead of gaems
Mac and OpenBSD have no Wine nor Proton.
FreeBSD has no Proton.
The rest probably don't have either.
Linux gets more than what it loses with proprietary software.
Linux wins in this regard.
I don't care.
I'd rather play a game with a native source port than use Wine.
Every Linux user should bookmark osgameclones.com
>mac OS
Nope. All they have to do is swallow their pride, support 32bit libs (Yes ARM can do it), and stop forcing people to use Metal API on their system and they could make a gaming PC that retards with money would buy. But they wont. MacPorts is just a shittier version of wine and barely works. Can't even play The Sims Medieval.
Good idea user!
I wish there were more ports of older freeware to Linux. I know stuff like Knytt Stories can run through wine, but I'd rather have it work natively, to circumnavigate wine's quirks.
You can compile Proton on FreeBSD because it uses the same backends as wine and FreeBSD has both AMD and Nvidia support.
Games can be open-source without being gratis. You have to buy the game to get the textures, models, levels, audio; the code is free.
tired of microsoft's botnet, should have done this long ago
what release should a semi-competent but not entirely apt tech retard get?
I enjoy Linux gaming more than Windows because there's no Windows bullshit
>You can't play League!!!!
I don't fucking care
Been playing Warhammer 40k Battlesector. Working on getting ChaosGate : Daemon Hunter working. The only hurdle right now is Denuvo.
Should also add that DUNELSpice Wars is pretty fun and works perfectly on both OpenGL and DirectX
Yes.
The current Linux ecosystem is based entirely on the idea of software freedom. Why should people who want to run other OS' be left out of that? Console (OS) wars are unnecessary when it comes to free/open software.
>have a 3-year-old
>whenever he sees my computer is on, he wants to sit on my lap and watch cartoons on it
>ok fine
>but then he quickly gets bored and starts trying to touch the keyboard
>still too young for actual games, just hits random keys triggering shortcuts I've never seen before
>just found blends.debian.org
>second game: "Bambam"
>"keyboard mashing and doodling game for babies"
>sudo apt install bambam
>opens in full screen, completely owns the keyboard and mouse
>every key just puts colorful shit on the screen and makes a noise
>typing "quit" (which a kid who can't read would never do by accident) quits the game but everything else is harmless
holy shit this is fantastic
>tfw no one bothers building their source mods for linux
Nvidia anons how's the KDE desktop treating you? Last time i tried it with a 700 series card it had some really bad graphical glitches and overall poor performance while the igpu of my ryzen 2200g runs it like a champ.
Nvidia works fine on KDE you muppet lol
That's why im asking. It wasnt a good experience with the card i had at the time but now that I have a newer one im looking to give it another go.
I-I think so
On Xorg with GTX 1060, plasmashell sometimes crashes when unsuspending, but it usually restarts just fine, so it's a minor inconvenience. All in all, it mostly works fine.
For me? It's Fedora. But I have to complain.
My new work issued laptop has a bug in Fedora (apparently reported on some other non-Red Hat distros as well) where HDMI just stops working, most often if the screen has been put to sleep. But also sometimes when attempting to change resolutions, etc.
It requires a reboot for it to come back on. Fucking Lenovo. Red Hat bug has been open since like 2020.
Been playing some Project Zomboid. Pretty steep learning curve but once you are able to safely manage hordes this game is really comfy.
It also plays very well in different styles. Slow and steady out on the edge of town, desperately sprinting through a horde in town, or going Chad mode and brazenly striding down main street, at a casual walk, while 100 zeds follow behind you. Kino.
Also the game can be genuinely horrifying when you're in a house, you can hear a clump of zombies outside, and it's nighttime so you can't easily deal with them. Hearing them wander about while you try to stay quiet and unseen is genuinely tense.
Ubuntu ate my grub and apparently amdpro drivers are meant for their workstation cards
Yes. People can buy doom and quake just fine.
yeah just use amdgpu for gaming.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye. I have an announcement!
You ready?
Here goes!
>AMD > nShitia + Incel
>Debian based > all other distros
>GNOME is based and redpill, while KDE is for trannies and women.
There you have it! You're welcome!!!!
Whats the deal with color management in wayland? Everywhere i go everybodys like ohh its totally busted but i just go into color settings in gnome and load the icc profile and it seems right. But color managed applications like firefox dont know about the profile automatically i got to go in and set it manually. But so what, that doesnt seem like crazyly broken that seems like one simple api decision needs to be made. But maybe it is crazyly broken and the problems are just suddle which is why i ask.
Currently playing Syndicate (1993)
Haven't had a playthrough for years.
nice background, you got a link?
Pro tip:
>stop using waytranny
Problem solved, you can thank me now.
No, pedo.
Stfu retard you dont know shit about what im asking. As if xorg color management were perfect.
Not him, but you are the retard for using wayland.
>upgrade from a 480 to a 6600 XT
>X won't initialize anymore
>even after reinstalling drivers through TTY
AAAaaaaa I don't want to reinstall
i am a pedo. problem?
Post proof
>Should video games be open-source?
Yes but that would make kike investors seethe so it's never going to happen.
Or you could just stop being poor.
If i use xorg i have to do the exact same shit i do on wayland now with apparently the same visual result, except of course for all the tearing and winxp-tier artifacting from moving windows around that xorg features.
I always try to run my games on Wine/Proton and it mostly works but there is always an issue here and there. Recently for example:
-Sekiro: more stutters than on Windows.
-Kena Bridge of Spirits: very slight stutters that don't happen on Windows.
-Life is Strange (original): crashes after 30min to 1hr.
Open Source doesn't mean they aren't for sale.
I put linux gaming on the same level as console gaming. Sure, it can be done, but it's simply inferior to Windows and always will be.
Or you could go back into the oven, schlomo.
retard alert
oh the masochistic guy
so much setup to get a game works, that u r satisfied when the game can start running even without playing it
if i had my sad panda favorites backed up to begin with.
It is to windows what windows is to consoles.
Sacrificing "it just werkz" for functionality and a wider backlog.
