I managed to get a japanese majora 3ds LL, sadly the bottom shell was fucked but im hoping the aliexpress shells are a good replacement. I plan on modding a capture card onto it as well. has custom firmware and all the games I wanna play on it, so yeah its holding up

it works fine but the sd card seems to be corrupted, loads everything at the second but the DS roms takes from 5 to 7 minutes

i got my replacements on amazon not that long ago. the batteries themselves were cheap but shipping was expensive. just make sure to search for OEM if you can

ebay is fine just watch for japanese sellers, sometimes they list some special editions and dont have the item or some things are broken.

It's just lens and easy to replace, but yes, every single model of 3DS has the bottom bezel scratch the top lens no matter what.

My N3DSXL hasn't scratched any screen.. but dust easily gets inside those screens. :(

3ds had menu themes, lots of series that were only ds or 3ds exclusive and trapped on the system, or just a fun feel on that system alone to play.

I love the switch, but the 3ds will always have a place in my memories.

Nintendo REALLY dropped the ball on the Switch's graphical customization for some reason, I imagine it has something to do with how lightweight the OS is but holy shit we still only have light and dark themes.

nintendo (correctly, imo) assessed that part of why the wiiu failed was because the menu was too goddamn slow. so with that in mind and the switch being a handheld they did everything they could to pare down the UI so it could be as snappy as possible. i miss the comfy console UI from before but i can't really say they made the wrong choice either

Grab the Super Mario 64 source-port if you want that game on your system, Super Mario 64 DS has cool features but isn't quite as good as the original

Software isn't region locked once installed. You can do a region change to access different eShops but that's not gonna matter in March of '23. It is objectively better to have your 3DS hacked than not.

That's a really ugly color-scheme and yet I don't hate it. 2DS is really comfy to hold, I remember playing and beating Metal Gear Solid 3 for the first time on mine.

If it's the old model it won't run the SM64 port at all, or most resource intensive homebrew for that matter.
