>>UFO 50
>Ever releasing
It's nice to dream though
can't wait for this
also there's a list of 129 indies here, I'm going to turn it into a giant infographic soon
if I'm missing any good ones let me know
It lacks Black Souls, E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy and Frostpunk
I liked Duskers, but it had severe lack of content. Still a fun enough game to be included imo, same with Iron Lung
Just general good indies? I could suggest a few
>The Forgotten City
Timeloop type game that was originally a Skyrim mod that became its very own game
>Creeper World 4
Tower defense/offense game against a continuously advancing wave of goo. Fourth game by a single developer madman
>Jet Lancer
SHMUP of the non-sidescrolling variety. Plays similarly to Luftrausers
Also was gonna suggest Nex machina but I see it's already there. Good shit
(Me)
Also Post Void, OFF and Witch's House
good suggestions, thanks, added all of them but not too sure about Frostpunk, can't tell if it's really indie or not, they had quite a large team and large amount of focus testers, but at the same time it was developed and published by them
indies have become harder to define in recent years
All I do nowadays is slowly chip away at I wanna kill the Kamilia 3 and Tactical Nexus. I guess I'm just looking forward to the Rain World DLC, that's about the only game I've ever been excited to see more of.
That is unfortunately true, if we just go by definition then Cyberpunk 2077 would technically be one
There were also several games I wasn't sure about - Get Even, Chernobylite and Observer. Pretty sure those were developed by relatively small teams and are decent eurojank, but they all apparently had publishers
If you're making it into an infographic, you could somehow mark "games with a small team and budget" and "games without publishers". Add coloured dots to the picture like in pic related, for instance
Silksong. This year is our year. I'm feeling it.
Feb 2023
played:
DUSK
Loop Hero
Slay the Spire
Stardew Valley
Not really looking forward to anything, bc I'm trying to cut down my backlog.
Ori and the blind forest is published by Microsoft and made by professional with fairly large budget also by Microsoft.
Game director is from blizzard, artists that worked at like Disney, the animator that did the GDC talk on the animation for blind forest now works at Valve, and the ost composer literally worked on Halo infinite ost.
The only thing is that the indipendent team for blind forest was small with like 10 people.
Now do you really consider this an indie game?
I debated putting it on there. Ori 2 definitely wouldn't be since it was published my Microsoft with financial aid from them I believe, not sure if the original had financial aid from MS or if they just came on board with Moon Studios late in development
the team size is the only real reason I'd consider it indie
Most of those are shit.
Most indie games are shit. I'm so tired of pretentious garbage like edith finch and pixely shit like literally any other game that isn't a walking sim. Just because you're not an SJW pandering soul-sucking corporation doesn't mean you should just give up on trying to improve your side of the industry. Even indie bands try not to sound shit.
I think it was late in development so fair enough, but would be nice if you could differentiate game's with publisher and fairly large budget like said
I'm looking forward to Silksong
I'll be looking forward to Silksong for the next 20 years
ok dude but nobody's forcing you to be in this thread or play indie games so...what was your point again?
>currently playing
Curse of the Dead Gods. enjoying it more than I expected. it scratches the "Hades combat itch" better than any other game I've found so far.
finished the 3rd "tier 3" temple earlier today so I'm going to start attempting the final temple tonight.
anyone play this?
youtu.be
don't have to check the link to know you're missing cinco paus
Could you have used a worse selection of games to represent indies than everything in your OP image? Jesus fucking christ.
Here's a different one:
Oh, oops. I forgot that it had AAA games in the image.
:(
>Environmental Station Alpha 2
since fucking when?
since a while
hempuli.com
user that made that here, that was just general upcoming stuff as you just found out, but here's an updated version of that anyway
Is Slime Rancher 2 going to be early access kinda stuff or is it gonna be a complete game at launch?
One bump
I don't know why
I tried this deckbuilding roguelike recently. Reasonably fun and seems mostly complete (still in early access) but the balance does seem a tad off on the higher difficulties.
is Slime Rancher 1 good? what's the gameplay like?
I need Silksong to arrive next year just so Tunic can be my GOTY without the competition.
saw videos of some japanese indie game in development about some kind of robot swimming around a submerged city
forgot the name of it
looked cool
Card Shark looks cool. Played the demo and I hope it gets full ROBBARI later on
if you like deck building games you should check out the nowhere prophet
For all my trainchads out there, Sweet Transit looks like a game that's made for us. Just saw it in my interactive recommender and I think the devs are looking at a release this year. Dont know much yet but visually it looks fucking nice though
>From solo developer Ernestas Norvaišas (former 3D artist, Factorio)
that's why it looks so much like Factorio
I played Disco Elysium this year, 10/10 makes me wish the RCM was real so I could join it and be a complete shitter with my boys
I still need to play that game
Fast paced action games recommendations please. I really like dead cells snd hollow knight
Anyone played Nightmare Reaper? overwhelmingly positive on steam but it’s giving me Project Warlock vibes, which I hated
Furi
Hyper Light Drifter
loved furi but i couldnt get into HLD for some reason got anything else youve been playing? i recently tried the souldiers demo and really enjoyed it so ill be playing that when its out
What are some jap indie games? I dont trust american aaa shit neither they/them millenial faggot urbanites indie “devs”
Katana Zero for sure if you haven't gotten around to playing it
Are twin-stick shooters acceptable? Nex Machina might be one of the best arcade-styled twin stick games ever made. Cyber Hook is a nice fast-paced first-person platformer too
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
La Mulana
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
I'm sure there's more but those games stick out for me
Hello?...Yea Forumsan support hotline?...Plugins aren't working...Yeah...Yeah, I redeemed
been having a blast with this one. GOTY for sure
are Inscryption and Disco Elysium each worth ~13 neetbux?
u sound like a bitch
I've put more time into Vampire survivors than any AAA that came out in the last nine months
I'm kind of lukewarm on it, but it's basically a first-person adventure game take on the farming genre. You go out into the wild, suck up slimes and foods, then deposit them in the base. Slimes produce little gems when fed, and that's your moneymaker, which you use to buy upgrades for movement, health, and treasure finding. Biggest issue for me was the extremely limited inventory- it's slot based, and you only have 4 slots, so 4 different items at a time, although you can upgrade the quantity of what you can hold in each slot. It also has an actual economy unlike most farming games, so selling the same stuff repeatedly will decrease its value.
> Ghost Song
I'm really worried it won't be good, mainly because of the dev time.
Disco Elysium was 100% worth it in my eyes, though be aware you are going into a game for the atmosphere and the story.
Can't speak about Inscryption personally, but my friend that played it said that he enjoyed the first part of the game, while the rest was mediocre.
Anyone give Citizen Sleeper a try yet? Came out today and seems to be similar to Disco. Trailer looks cool.
got all the endings in fatum betula. cool little game would recommend
Sea of Stars
>Chrono Trigger Inspired Gameplay
>Actual decent sprite work
>Timed hits
>No random battles (Similar to Chrono Trigger)
>Fishing Mini Game
>Physical Copies for major consoles and PC
>Coming out in December
>Katana Zero for sure if you haven't gotten around to playing it
only after the DLC
That's fair
Will try out katana zero. Didn't know this but it's in my library kek
