At there's some SotC.
>Someone says "I love classical music"
>Asks for examples
>Its all movie soundtracks
What creates such a person?
>"From 8-bit to Infinity" when the oldest games represented are on PS2
>Dear Esther
>Yoko Shimomura gets 10 less minutes than fucking Battlefield 2042
SotC getting 8 minutes is the only positive I could name.
"classical music" should have been your first flag
people already forgot about baba yetu?
It'll be a bunch of current year cinematic trash that may as well just be movie soundtracks, maybe they throw some Legend of Zelda or Mario in just so it looks like they "know their stuff". You won't get anything legitimately cool, like Zuntata music, or the ZOE2 soundtrack.
Cute retard who can't follow links
So, was I right?
Depends on if you count Kingdom Hearts and Shadow of the Colossus as cool. Also no token Nintendo.
You're right that the actual cool shit won't be done by something like this, but sometimes publishers just find their own orchestras at least.
Yeah, that's pretty basic bitch "I'm a nerd, look!" video game music.
Which girls are invited?
all the good gaming music is japanese or indie
you get weird western standouts like doom.. but for the most part they seem to treat it like movie soundtracks, just indistinct background noise
modern "art" and "music" elitism is embarassing
but the only good japanese gaming music is done by from software... who just copies western movie soundtracks
Western AAA studios suffer from the same shit movies are going through, directors hear a song in another movie/game, they use it as temp audio while making/testing the game, then when it comes for the composer to do his shit the director says "Make it sound like that track we've been using".

Did EA fund this? Also, is dear ester's music that good? Sitting next to kh and sotc is kinda hard to believe.
From Software games pretty much just have sad ambiance. It's fine, but your average Sonic game has better music.
>Also, is dear ester's music that good
If I had to guess it's because Jessica Curry hosted a show on a Radio station called Classic FM which was all about video game music. Unsurprisngly 98% of the shit she picked was uninspired Western stuff.
Why do these concerts always do this? Why don’t they go for actually beloved game tracks rather than just “game soundtracks that were released in the past 3-4 years”?

>Whaitu piggu eternally rekt
Yeah, that bodes confidence. I'm somewhat morbidly curious what excerpts from kh and sotc they're going to use now.
>not only did zuntata produce killer soundtracks as a team, but they spawned one of the most influential solo devs in gaming history
absolutely un-fucking-matched
Good western OSTs exist but they were back before that film score mentality kicked in during the 00s.
was expecting atleast Michael Giacchino's work from Medal of Honor, or final fantasy
Jesus what a terrible set list
Half of Tim Follin's tracks are like legitimate prog rock masterpieces in their own right.

What are some good and memorable western OSTs from the past decade?
Off the top of my head, I can think of:
>Undertale
>Ghost of Tsushima
>Doom 2016
Apart from that, I’m at a loss.
Super Mario - Suite

You mean this?
Furi's fucking great. Of course, it's all just music from synthwave artists.
>Nothing from Keiichi Okabe or Yasunori Mitsuda
It’s automatically shit
Everyone says "classical" you pretentious 17 year old faggot. You are not special for knowing the names of the different eras of what is colloquially termed "classical music".

This is a great Playlist to get the history of various game composers just by listening, but there's text commentary and interview excerpts if you want to watch. Not all the obvious choices either, although Follin & Wise are in there.
Some of it is not worth mentioning, but I think some of the later Isaac stuff (Repentance, at least) is both good and memorable. If not that, the Antibirth stuff is pretty fucking great.
Risk of Rain 2
Hollow Knight
Why the fuck am I listening to this for the first time?
I have no idea what to call this except fucking great.
Play G-Darius, by the way. That game's awesome. Play Darius Gaiden too, for that matter.
>Risk of Rain
Yes.
>2
No.
>Video game music!
Same composer and basically the same tracks but better quality
>battlefield
>Dear Esther
>KH
>SoTC
Couldn't shell out for the good stuff could huh BBC.
None of these are western.
Define "western"
Does Prom mean a different thing over in Bongistan? Why are they having it in the summer?
>bunch of American games
>French game
>Australian game
Are you fucking retarded?
Runescape and Destiny
Are you?
this is gay but I teared up at the end
Where the hell do you think "the West" is?
>Prom is short for promenade concert, a term which originally referred to outdoor concerts in London's pleasure gardens, where the audience was free to stroll around while the orchestra was playing. In the context of the BBC Proms, promming refers to the use of the standing areas inside the hall (the Arena and Gallery) for which ticket prices are much lower than for the seating. Proms concert-goers, particularly those who stand, are sometimes referred to as "Prommers" or "Promenaders".
hawaii
Not western.
If he wanted to be a pedantic bitch he could point out that Australia is as far east as Japan is.
How so?
>What are some good and memorable western OSTs from the past decade?
Lost Judmgent shat on everything that year and it wasnt even nominted ot Gaym Awards
Japan is a western country, though.
The concept of "the West" is rooted in the cultural schism between Western and Eastern Europe. Australia is culturally of Western Europe.
I can't believe there are retards in here arguing over what the west is.
You have to go back.
Japan is not a western country what the fuck are you talking about
