It was a good way to introduce what the game is about, since Vanilla didn't have one overarching plot like the expansions, but I find the more narrative driven cinematics better.
I couldn't really rank them though, I love them all for different reasons.

As someone who never played vanilla when it released, shit seems pretty trash. I appreciate the world building and dungeons/raid designs, but mechanically the game is fucking paper thin. Rotations are none existent, every rdps class is pretty much just a different flavor of arcane mage. The pve content is basically just a stat check. The graphics are terrible. The quests don't spawn mobs quickly enough, and quest item drop rates are hilariously low. Nobody really socializes, even in dungeons.
The only thing WORSE in retail is the story and lore. The borrowed power shit is dumb, but I appreciate that they at least tried to make the endgame more than just a rep grind.

GW1 was also distinctly ahead the curving with the way it balanced everything differently for PvE and PvP. Yeah, it takes some time to memorize shit twice, but in competent hands it lets two modes not hamper each other.
TBC > WOTLK (pre 3.3.0) > Vanilla > anything else is shit

I've watched Asmongold (not anymore though) for the past three to five years and I can't count how many times he's said he's taking a break from streaming or "quitting" WoW. The guy has smart takes on a lot of things, a cut above most streamers I think, but god does he do some pathetic shit.
Right now it's all about making excuses to avoid playing FF. He is angry because his all craft show was mostly about FFXIV even though tranny flight was just announced. He lost two stupid bets in that game and got wrecked hard

They are trying to pawn of GW2 copy/pasted flying + talent trees + a new race/class combo + profession revamp off as their new main features of the expansion.
Literally every single thing there is a complete non-factor. People always quit the game because the endgame is trash, you know the thing you'll be doing 90% of your time.
They hardly even mentioned ANYTHING about things like M+, raiding, RBG, arenas, faction imbalances, dailies, rep/covenants, etc. and that is incredibly telling. They clearly have no idea what to do with those things, so it will just continue being the exact same as in Shadowlands, making 50% of their playerbase quit after 1 month, and then another 25% quits after 2 months.

I guess that fotm shit died down for them and now he has to pick up the pieces after making a big deal about "switching" to WoW and interviewing the creator and shit.
