OP here, forget to mention I was born in 2006

day 1 of OSRS was magical and honestly the peak throughout the 20+ years the game has existed

best game of the franchise, could actually stand on its own without the brand name, cant say the same for all the other pokemon games

Wrong, zoomer.

youre autistic if you think pokemon games are meant for pvp, just use showdown

fuck that 3rd case for being glorified filler, killed any desire to continue

Bloodborne

Garbage games.

>Playing OU in gen5
Gen5 UU was kino

Dear diary, today OP was not a fag

>Fanfic meta
>Any gen

Try Polished Crystal if you haven't already.
Extremely good take on Crystal.

No, it fucking ruins everything good about the original games.

Why do ROM hackers always have to take everything to the extreme? Just a few simple fixes/QOL and a bit extra postgame content is fine. Why do you have to add random maps everywhere and bloat the game with your garbage fanfic mechanics?

Vanilla Crystal still holds up amazingly well today for a GameBoy Colour game.

this was the peak

Attached: 05_emerald_box.jpg (800x799, 105.49K)

Polished doesn't add any fanfic mechanics, it borrows from the newer gens.
>random maps everywhere
They're all based on Pokewalker locations, or in Cherrygrove's case it gives the region better flow later on. And why not add new areas? Johto is tiny.

Gen 2 is early zoomercore and no amount of seething and denial will ever change that.
Now tell us your pronouns.

Attached: 1626797525356.jpg (665x465, 36.06K)

I disagree.
The new areas make perfect sense in the world and are all areas that exist in lore. I enjoyed discovering places I've never been to before in a world I know well.
As far as mechanics go, they're all taken from later generations that are in almost every case a solid improvement.
Also, the phys/spec split alone makes playing Vanilla Crystal a slog.

fucking filtered. 3rd case was kino

That's not Pokemon Emerald patched with all 386 Pokemon and Day and Night cycle

This is such a zoomer thread...

Second best

The phys/spec split (and natures and abilities) is why I AVOID Gens 3+. Literally, Legends Arceus is the first decent Pokémon game since Crystal purely because it toned down these stupid mechanics.

no other entries even come close to PLA

You have to be joking, user.

>Many of the new Pokemon are unavailable until after the elite 4, including all of the Dark types except for Umbreon and Sneedsel in Crystal.
>Only 5 gen 2 Pokemon are used by Johto's 8 gym leaders.
>Many Pokemon have very limited options for moves, many even lack STAB attacks.
>No stone evolutions until post elite 4
>Between Morty and the Radio Tower, all NPC trainer and wild Pokemon's levels flatline due to "muh non-linearity" causing the game to become easy and boring.
>Kanto in general lacks anything interesting, and none of the gym leaders and trainers except for Blue pose any challenge as they have Pokemon weaker than the Elite 4.

Gen 2 aged like milk, only carried by it's soundtrack, aesthetics, and nostalgia playing the games is a slog. HGSS at least fixed a good number of it's problems.

>Hating the Physical/Special split

the only reason you prefer these games over HGSS is because of nostalgia

>Snorlax meta

>The phys/spec split (and natures and abilities) is why I AVOID Gens 3+
Why?
Abilities especially add so much character to certain pokemon. Like Ditto auto-transforming through his ability.
And Phys/spec split makes many pokemon that were previously handicapped really strong. Notable examples are Feraligatr and Gyarados but the list goes on.

user, Pokémon in general is Zoomercore.

Hello Jan!

Attached: 1646045842349.png (609x269, 27.42K)

The single player Pokemon games are always, literally always, just glorified tutorials for the pvp. Even the "hardest" romhacks are piss easy.

Attached: i1mJWjl2AY99Sz.jpg (680x962, 136.52K)

Gyarados was already good.

The only thing that Legends Arceus doesn't have is abilities. It has natures and the phys/spec split.

Yes but not the disgusting Wii version.

Attached: tp-075.jpg (1885x3056, 2.47M)

>Gen 2 is great because... It just is, okay??

Yes. Every pokemon having super powerful stab moves goes against the game design of the first two gens.

Gyarados was "okay". When your strongest move is a non-stab EQ, something's wrong.

>Gyarados was "okay"
It was OU.
>When your strongest move is a non-stab EQ
HP Flying is stronger.

>Hyper Beam

Attached: 250px-PMTTYD.jpg (250x349, 34.66K)

>Many Pokemon have very limited options for moves, many even lack STAB attacks.
This one really stings, even if you get a Phanpy or a Heracross, those Pokemon get no decent STAB moves ever, so apart from resistances it's like you're just playing with a weaker Normal type. I really don't know why they didn't make it a priority to make sure all Pokemon had access to a generic weak/midgame/strong stab option for each of their types at the very least. Instead half of the early ground type moves are exclusive to the Cubone family for some reason.

Hyper Beam's recharge skip was a bug. It was even fixed in Stadium.

He lost my respect, when he bitched about Clover, but holy fucking based

Attached: retard-alert.gif (498x357, 985.99K)

There just weren't a lot of bug, ground, or fighting-type moves back then, and there were only so many moves that could fit into the game.

Weather wars were kino

Attached: Weather Wars.jpg (680x567, 407.75K)

Then the game would already be more of a 1HKO rock-paper-scissors game than it already is

Attached: super-puyo-puyo-2-tsuu-remix-cover.cover_large.jpg (500x902, 167.07K)

Attached: dread.jpg (1240x2008, 409.23K)

Oh yeah, you have to have all those great moves, like pound or scratch or tackle or headbutt or double slap or fury swipes or egg bomb or barrage.

>First game is the best one
Also applies to Viewtiful Joe. Any other series where they got it (mostly) right the first time and then lost the plot?

Attached: 163197-sonic-riders-windows-front-cover.jpg (800x1147, 215.64K)

Obamasnow shouldn't even be in the picture.

Serious Sam, if you consider the first two encounters as one game.

What do you mean, half the fun in the games is leveraging the rock paper scissors to your advantage, and as it is the types lacking good STAB moves are types which are weak to begin with. Ground types lack any offensive options until they get access to the best attacking move in the game, it's just a really weird binary.

>pound or scratch or tackle
Those actually need to exist though, they're the most basic moves that pokemon need so there's balance
>Headbutt
For trees, also flinching
>Double Slap or Fury Swipes or egg bomb or barrage
These I agree with.
