>Overwatch 2’ Has Lost 99% Of Its Twitch Audience In A Week
LMAO
I mean the marketing worked. People came into the streams excited about OW2 and saw that it was the same exact game they grew tired of ages ago.
Typical Jeff Kaplan L
Another overrated designer coasting on public perception of his contributions to other products getting shit on by reality
Everyone got their beta code
not enough strong female POC characters
Didn't Jeff leave Blizzard like a year ago?
>Everyone
You mean the million bots
Overwatch will never outlive games like tf2 because they try to make high skill ceiling mechanics more accessible. For example they tried to make surfing/air strafing accessible with Lucio. You can completely master Lucio's movement in a few days but you can't complete a medium difficulty surf map even if you practiced for months. The same logic also applies to rocket/sticky jumping, b-hopping etc. Not every player can utilize these mechanics effectively but you can do insane shit if you master them. Ow allows you to do these stuff with no skill required which makes it unsatisfying and boring
>Ow allows you to do these stuff with no skill required which makes it unsatisfying and boring
I feel like Overwatch also intentionally gimps characters which require a high degree of mechanical skill to play. Didn't Pharah go through a shitton of nerfs so that Quake players couldn't demolish lobbies with her?
>WTF happened?
Drops disabled.
Imagine using beta codes when the game and the company itself desperately needs to win back the audience.
Blizzard's arrogance never fails to make me smile, it's gonna be nice watching them go sub 20mil MAUs and lower and lower and lower.
Ow started with the balance philosophy: "If everyone is op then no one is op". They abandoned this approach after realizinh balancing op characters are a nightmare. So they nerfed lots of characters.
it's an god-awful game to spectate, nothing feels like it has any impact and there arent any omega hype moments
kaplan hasn't worked there for over a year
tigole left blizzard last year
I seem to recall lucio wallrunning requiring more of the player when I played the original beta years ago. When I played the OW2 beta you literally stick to walls if you hold spacebar
>nothing feels like it has any impact and there arent any omega hype moments
It's funny how even ultimates fail to create any kind of hype. They don't feel like genuine clutch plays.
overwatch was at its most fun at the very beginning where people were just doing crazy shit and meme comps, fucking around and having fun while still playing the objective if you had a team that cared about it
inevitably of course people figured out the "meta" of what works and what doesn't competitively
the game-killing problem came because blizzard is so shit at balancing that they basically just gave up on trying to.and instead started forcing and balancing the game around their chosen team composition instead of addressing the root causes of why shit like 3 tank shieldfag strats were unstoppable or why nobody wanted to play non-DPS characters
You post this thread multiple times a day every day my nigger go outside touch some grass my nigger go out and live
>when pvc viewers learn a new word
This, it was still impressive they got this much attention for a glorified balance patch
That's true he went through a series of dumbing down "quality of life improvements" over the years.
I see hard-core fans defending this shit saying 2 new heroes and multiple maps and some reworked shit count as a sequel and that if you owned the game the sequel is free but what about the new fans? Surely they will be fucked as hard as blizzard wants them
You mean this shit couldn't be a normal update and instead worked om the same fucking engine with the same fucking shit only to add some banal shit in the form of an expansion but calling it a sequel?
Ironic since blizzard pushed so hard expansions back in the day.
blizzard put bounty thing on twitch for streamers to care about the game for one day then everyone stopped caring. after all system changes casual viewer still sees it as ow1
Damn nice ass
It's not all that different from 2, at least on a surface viewer perspective and the esports scene is again laughably bad. But twitch numbers are not sales or player counts so it's only a judgment of how popular the game is to watch on twitch, which can vary depending on many circumstances. For example there was an OWL stream on only YouTube on Thursday, so the game would have less twitch viewers because people were watching the YouTube event.
i read too many niggers
litteraly only quick play, nothing to do after 2 3 hours
True, its not the same as OW1. They've actively made it worse.
poo poo pee pee
Honestly, OW peaked during dive before moira came out
It's the little things that made me drop it. Like Rein not having a charge cancel even though everyone begged for it
literally the same game with a few tweaks.
>black on the cover
>less viewers
how do 15yos look likes this these days?
based microsoft
one of those games is not out yet OP i will let you do some thinking to find out
something ow2 has?
>t-this will save blizzard, i swear!
>thinking blizzard wont become the next bioware
A 6-year-old game that was already aging in 2019 gets an awful reskin and a PVE mode. Really cool.
It's better than it was but not better than day 1/pre-ana OW. I think the game was basically complete on release in terms of gameplay. They just needed to add new maps and features, not heroes.
So there's actually a schedule to this at the moment. At launch Overwatch 2's Beta had a decent size watching because it was new.
It took a day or two and people realised that either they were looking at "Overwatch 1 with a 2 attached and 5v5", none of the PvE elements are in the game.
Now, the Overwatch League is running alongside the usual streams of the game. To accompany that, there's a giveaway of Beta Keys every hour, about 1500 keys per hour, so people are going into the streams (most likely AFKing) to get a shot at earning a key.
You can imagine that skews the numbers quite a bit. The OWL is notoriously hard to get numbers for because Blizzard has been known for skewing their numbers with Chinese values (these can't be verified at all) and for about a year or two, they refused to release any kind of solid information about growth in the OWL.
On YouTube, the OWL usually averages about maybe 5k people? Right now, thanks to the Beta Keys, it's about 80k?
What you're seeing most likely on Twitch could be inflated numbers that won't even stick around too, ignoring YouTube. The numbers are going to plummet even more.
How do the people at Blizzard still got a job? I can understand technicians, because this sound legitimately like a planning and management problem.
There's a few problems. Overwatch always had a content problem because it would run the same fucking events and would barely do anything new. When the "Archives" came around, it would sometimes change up.
Of course, the last time they did this was particularly insulting because a majority of the mode and new content was cutscenes that played as you were playing the PvE mode. They tried progressing the "story" and it was the only thing during Overwatch 1 that was a progression within the story. Everything else previously had either been an update to maps for tie-ins with the Origin Stories (little videos made to explain a character during their release, this stopped happening a while ago obviously).
It's definitely a planning or management problem. It's like Hitman 2016-Hitman 3, but somehow worse.

Are you talking about Storm Rising?
That was a prequel / flashback too.
They never attempted to progress anything, ever.
And the people not watching aren't playing it either.
Same problem as always. The devs are trying to keep the current iteration of the game work with busted heroes and role queue. But people fucked off when they saw it's the same unfun garbage it was 3 years ago.
Something that could've been easily implemented, but chose to ignore until the community that cared about gameplay fucked off to better games
iu jus reinstalled a overwatch and played a few matches and it is as awful as i remeber.
>lots of stuns
>lots of shields
>too reliant on team cooperation
Some of he more annoying shit is out in ow 2 but it looks like the same game to me.
There's nothing interesting about Overwatch 2. It's the same game.
>"I-IT'S JUST A B-BETA!!!!"
Press S spit to on blizzardtrannies
Not having to deal with two unkillable fucks around every corner has got to be an improvement.
they're not even worth my spit; they're beneath even that
She's 17 (30).
i saw the new WOW dev vid on asmon's stream and they had a fucking tranny on the panel
never giving another cent to blizzaids
>Black on cover
>game dies instantly
whats even the point of overwatch 2? its the exact same game
>you know how we fucked up OW1 badly?
>well this is OW2, it'll have none of those problems
>please buy the game again
It's the next logical step from the endless flood of remakes and remasters the last few years
>What if we just release the same game again and charge them for it?
also works
