get off my board

yeah

I genuinely enjoyed it but I was just a child back then.

Yeah
Nice try redditbob.

Shadow triggers the bot

Yes. The objective system killed it and having to replay it ten times for the true ending wasn't exactly fun.
It becomes way better when you can treat it as a standard get-to-the-finish 3D Sonic game.
>t. preordered it at launch

It started the bad habit of "No other characters only Sonic >:(" but people unironically get more mad taking a game about a fucking CARTOON HEDGEHOG SHOOTING HIS EDGE TO DEATH overly seriously

Attached: 1644093233609.jpg (604x604, 52.75K)

if it wasn't so fucking slow the guns could have been fun, and if the branching system wasn't so retarded it could have neat

The guns and characters saying "damn", despite being the thing everybody mocks this game for, were the least of its problems

It was a misunderstood masterpiece

>reddithog
Yes

At the bare minimum it's better than Heroes.

I just finished it with the mod to make objectives less shit. Played a lot better that way. Shame final Doom is still poop to fight.

a 3D shmup on SPEED could have been great fun, just make it a S&P clone or some shit

>boring game
>boring design
>forgettable story
Only good thing was the soundtrack and campiness.

>Pump-action magazine-fed automatic rifle

the very next game had other playable characters wtf are you talking about

Recently watched this video on the game's story and it did actually convince me that Shadow was surprisingly well characterized given how many memes surround how edgy the game is.

>Shovelware the Hedgehog
>Got one spinoff game that is majorly disliked and an LCD Basketball game
>CHADrio
>Got two spinoff series, the former being a majorly beloved platformer series, and the latter being a successful, innovative genre-buster
It's obvious which rival got the better deal here

someone bothered to mod Shadow the Hedgehog?

wario games have no right to be as good as they are

gamebanana.com/mods/352089
Has a few but mostly fluff. This is the one worth caring about. Requires de-compiling the game, replacing one file with the mod file of the same name, then re-compiling it.

>he needs an easy mode

I unlocked Last Story and beat it vanilla when I was 12, doesn't change the fact that 100% of objectives is fucking boring.

>Did it deserve the hate?
Yes. But if anything, Heroes deserves way more hate than people give it credit for.

>reddithog
Go back

It's those disgusting black creatures

No. But I've never played Sonic, Shadow is the only one I've played.

But nostalgy, man.
I grew up with the game cube, big bro owned a 64 so I did not even know the Adventure games existed.

Anyone with eyes can see the extremely low quality job they did on everything from the graphics and animation to the voice acting and sound-effects and even the fuckin' physics.

The game being shit has nothing to do with the aesthetic or plot. It has everything to do with inferior development. Shadoe the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes strike you as a turd when you compare it to the well-made and finely crafted Sonic Adventure 2. It's like everyone competent at Sonic Team left after it was released, and all they had left were amateurs. That is likely the case considering there has never been a 3D Sonic game since with the same amount of polish as SA2.

Yeah

I like it and have fun with it. But it sucks, so yeah.

I'd argue even Shadow Mario (Bowser Jr.) got better games than Shadow with his side games in BIS remastered and Bowser's Fury

Yes. Gameplay is shit and slippery as hell. Shooting is unsatisfying and wonky. Story is laughable. Graphics are ugly as hell. I was psyched out of my mind for this game when I was 13. Got it for christmas, and after being disappointed with Heroes this was even worse. I stopped being a sonic fan after it.

you never once saw them in stores when shopping for gamecube games with the family?

Gameplaywise it is definitely wonky and deserves some hate. The absolutely bonkers plot where Shadow, wielding an MP5, teams up with a dark lord to destroy the world is amazing and does not deserve the hate.

I was 5 years old when Sonic Adventure came out, I wasn't allowed to touch video games until I was 7

i'm much younger than you and still managed to find them at gamestop and hollywood video

Yes, but because of the shitty mission objectives. True Neutral path is a blast, even if a bit short.

>Get confused as to why Shadow says he has no choice but to believe Black Doom at the start
>Turns out the JP script merely had him say the 7 emeralds brought together grant miracles so he just needs to gather them to learn about his past.

Why do people bitch about the objectives so much? They're not that bad aside from shit like Lost Impact and Central City.

I will kill myself before I do the mission with 40 artificial Chaos again.

Mod drops it to 25 thankfully.

Should drop it to 0.

that mission is an easy A rank if you dont suck

this

Why does he cock the assault rifle like a shotgun

One of the animators of that opening cutscene explained it in this comments section
youtu.be/GxCcHOvSVJQ

>Blur worked on Sonic 2006's Opening and Closing Cinematics only, the remaining ones (infamous kiss scene included) were animated by the CG studio Sega was putting together in Japan. They were eager to "pick our brains" and had lots of questions about our pipeline, etc, which we were more than happy to share since they were actually a great client to work with! We didn't think of them as a competitor, maybe due to the distance they were from us.

>Untypical for Blur, we received all the storyboards from them as well as motion capture for all characters. I think they were planning on handling it themselves originally. We didn't use the mocap on Sonic, he was all keyframe, and we used the human mocap either as a solid reference for keyframing human close up shots, or cleaned up for BG characters or wide shots. They absolutely loved the cartoon energy on Sonic, and expressed some frustration that they didn't have the time to do something similar on their end. Blur's Animation team was top notch - this is what they could do on a very tight schedule. Most of them have moved on to Film Animation studios and AAA games, and one of them, Jeff Fowler, is directing the new Sonic movies!
>(And yes, we were fully aware you can't cock a submachine gun like that in Shadow... but I think it was in the boards, and the toy gun we were using to film reference video did exactly that so, heh, we kept it! Added to the silliness, I guess)

I never said it was hard. It's just not fun. At all.

>reddithog

Wario-sama, I kneel...

>find and kill 50 enemies
>if you miss even one, you have to go back through the level again!
Yes.

Sonic heroes isn't bad at all.

>just finished that shit emulating on PCSX2
>the amount of controlling shadow, a speedy hedgie, in tight corridor rooms
>while hunting down 40 of artificial chaos where some can be easy to miss
outstanding level designs

with kino like this youtu.be/5HKWwlooHdE how can you not have fun

>Redditbob seething
Love to see it.

hehehe

Anti-Sonic autism has always been as bad as the pro-Sonic autism. Usually Nintendo kids.
