I'm not a huge anime fan. A few months ago, I decided to watch some of the popular anime I've been hearing about. Demon Slayer, Fairy Tale, Stein's Gate, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece(technically a second watch. But my first was so long ago, that I didn't remember anything about it)

For Demon Slayer, I gave it up to the point where they meet those elite demon slayers. I was already annoyed as fuck by the yellow haired guy always crying. I hated him with a passion. So when I saw the new characters display their personalities, I finally tapped out. They were all just more annoying dickheads. I wasn't going to stick around for that.

I'm not sure on neither why should I care and what the fuck does that have to do with my post.

I dropped Fairy Tale in the first few episodes. I was honestly planning on dropping after the first episode, but I wanted to be fair and gave it a few more.

Hunter Hunter was mostly mid, with some few high points. Got interesting around the Chimera ant arc. I watched to the end.

Stein's Gate started off shaky for me in the first couple episodes, but then I found I really enjoyed it. I thought some of the nerd humor was cringe. I told Yea Forums that, and they got SUPER pissy about it. They really identify with the nerd stuff in Stein's Gate. I felt it too pandering and cheesy.

I trudged through 50-some episodes of One Piece before finally dropping it. Didn't like Luffy. Didn't like his motivation. Didn't like how people just magically fell in love with him. Got really annoying how he just acts as a magnet for people, while doing nothing but shouting and punching. Bullshit. Usopp is cool though.

I don't understand how anybody could read demon slayer from the Mugen train arc and up and not think it's an amazing story. Fights against the upper moons are ridiculously tense. And the final arc aside from the ending is one of the best final arcs in manga ever. How could you not feel the tension, the desperation as the demon slayers try their hardest just to land hits on the demons while also dodging knowing how fatal wounds for them are compared to demons. The despair ubuyashikis kids felt as they now had to be in charge of guiding the slayers while they were fighting and dying all around. Leading up to the final fight against muzan which started off just as great. Everyone quite literally doing anything they could to keep him there till sunrise. But it kinda fell off towards the rushed end. But overall it's a lot better than most new gen anime, can't wait for the final arc to be animated

Tanjiro is top tier for a shonen protagonist, and Mugen Train was amazing. Sure, most of the other characters are mediocre, but a good protagonist is such a rarity in the genre that it makes a huge difference.
