Extreme oversimplification has reduced these things to barely being recognizable as animals instead of easy shapes for underpaid animators

Better start than Gen VII even if the final forms were all solid (even Incineroar, yes). Way better than Gen VIII for sure. SWSH was the one case where I had trouble resonating with any of the starters upon reveal, and I'm glad that's not happening here.

That's a great final form if it's not just a clever fake. It captures many of the best parts of Pokémon design and has a great concept behind it.

Why do they insist on giving the starters these same lame as abilities?

Does anyone else think they really need to change how the starters work? Choosing one of 3 pokemon, always of fire, water or grass, has just gotten so unbelievably stale. There's no excitement in it anymore. They need to do something else

Usually, the red version has the more obviously badass additions while the blue version has the more creative ones. I often go with blue.

Yeah, this is my problem with it. It's extremely likely it's mean to be an Iberian lynx upon evolving, but we have no idea what's special about it beyond that. The design hardly gives any clear clues, and its short description seems to clue a lot less than the other two.

This looks way better than most fire starter designs that came this decade because it's not some fursuit crap.
