you should have avoided him altogether

Chaos Theory is still my favorite looking game.

Splinter Cell is better as a tactical military experience but MGS is more remarkable overall.

this kill the splinter cell

i wish this and hitman had more better games and no modern reboot

The official SP rank: Chaos Theory > Black List > Pandora Tomorrow > OG > 6th gen DA > Conviction > 7th gen DA

more remarkable in what sense? its true that MGS was more influential title for sure but its legacy is entirely reflected in narrative/presentation department while the actual gameplay was fairly primitive even for its time so it didn't really innovate gameplay-wise

My favorite thing to do was to kill someone, switch to thermal vision, and watch the body heat slowly fade from them.

More remarkable in the ways you described. MGS is more interesting in its story, characters and overall aesthetic. I agree that the tactical stealth gameplay is far superior in Splinter Cell.

Isn't it crazy that MGS1 and Thief: The Dark Project came out the same year, and Thief is an evergreen masterpiece modern games still struggle to match while MGS1 is a forgotten piece of shit nobody would ever play today except for a nostalgia trip?

It isn't at all crazy when you consider that everything you just wrote is false.

I started with Pandora and loved every fucking second. I loved a game that would call me out for fucking up. It was very demanding compared to most games I'd played. And I still got to play a few rounds of spies before I realized this wasn't the one xplay had gone on about. Going from a 9/10 to an 11/10 was pretty great xbox og memorymakin

It's just kind of generic and dull compared to MGS, a series that is superior in every way.

Wrong bandwagon opinion.

Mgs1 forgotten? Most people haven't even heard of Thief lmao.

Now go through the archive and find me a single thread in the past year dedicated to MGS1.
Thief is discussed all the time

MGS1 is discussed on /vr/ more often than Thief.

MGS does have more interesting characters ie. so many kino characters: the cobra unit, sons of liberty, ocelot. Liquid Snake, motherfucking Raiden, Solidus, Solid Snake. Damn

I could show you many threads discussing MGS as a whole.
>Thief is discussed all the time
wtf What world do you live in?

Better gameplay too desu.

>what world do you live in
called reality, fiend, Something Konami should except instead of making Pachinko fuckery.

People wrongly shit on Half-Life for popularizing movieshit games while in reality it was MGS that spawned this trend

Exactly. I don't fault Splinter Cell for lack of interesting characters though. Tom Clancy stories aren't known for character drama.

You're the only fiend here schizo.
>Konami should except instead of making Pachinko fuckery.
Where the fuck did that come from?

Mgs is in a league of its own. There are no other series you can say is like MGS. They're the perfect balance of action and stealth. It's not bound by a genre and is incredibly unique.

thief mogs them both

Better gameplay too desu

Tom Clancy games were the absolute fucking shit for a good decade of time, roughly 1998-2008. A few good ones even after that. Shame that the franchise has been turned into a Ubisoft cash machine.

two different game styles. I love me interesting and cool experiences and just not pure gameplay sometimes. MGS has touched on taboo subjects and explored some themes very well while SC has better dialogue yet predictable story. I love both. I just think it's just rampant fanboyism to not like one or the other because of reasons.

>blacklist
>shit
mid at worst

Wow I never knew of any Thief fans on Yea Forums before this thread, I never expected them to be so desperate and mindbroken by MGS of all things lmao.

>tactical military experience
lol
absolutely fucking not

its not even remotely realistic and there is no tactics at all involved. wheres your intel, wheres your combined arms, wheres your squad?

they are thief FANS, not thief players. important distinction.

This thread is like watching a bunch of boomers arguing about which dead game series is better than the other dead series lmao

SC 1 and PT suck dick. The only truly great game in the series is CT.

>no tactics
Utter nonsense.
>no intel
Utter nonsense
>no combined arms/squad
So what? It's a solo mission.

I love SC for it's light & dark stealth mechanics
and I love MGS primarily for it's camouflage stealth mechanics that were introduced from MGS3 and onwards.

Now I just want a stealth game that combines both camouflage and light & dark stealth.

That's always the case with old dead franchises, specially pc ones.

Games don't age and therefore cannot die. It's fucking software, tard. Just play it.

>Now I just want a stealth game that combines both camouflage and light & dark stealth.
MGSV unironically, camo is simpler though.

Bro Thief 1 has been one of the most zombie-hyped games of the past several years. 1 e-celeb does a review and I'm seeing regular threads about it for months.

Go to any RPGmaker thread and see decade old earthbound clones fans fight each other.

CT is a finely crafted work of art, but it's easier than the first two games and doesn't have that high stakes intensity except for the Bathhouse and the second half of Kokubo Sosho.

They do age in quality based on offerings in the genre released afterwards. SC 1 went from a mediocre game with interesting ideas to totally irrelevant and not worth playing after CT's release

frfr no cap imagine playing cringe older than 2 months like ok boomer XDd

Splinter cell niggas? Cringe. Thief niggas? Cringe

That's what happens when you get old. Prepare to still be arguing about Elden Ring 15 years from now, zoom zoom.

SC1 and PT are only hard cuz the AI is too volatile (not in a good way) and you have to fo extremely specific stuff to progress in some areas if you wanna clear the levels non-lethal so must people savescum on pc to avoid frustration.
CT having non-lethal weapons being kinda overpowered is a non-issue when level design and the amount of viable approaches improve so much.

WRONG

CT>6th gen DA>OG>Conviction>PT>Blacklist>7th gen DA

is correct

i would accept the decreased difficulty in dealing with guards if there were more intense situations like for example that level in PT where you have to protect the lady spy from a hit squad coming to get her. there's nothing with that pace or urgency in CT, even in the Bathhouse during the shootout, you can inch your way around and take steady, precise shots when you need to.

>MGS2-7 million sales on 1 console
>Chaos Theory-2.5 million sales on 3 consoles and PC
Pathetic that people actually consider SC competition for MGS.

Splinter Cell fans have been getting uppity lately, they're very self conscious and try so hard to shit on MGS.
It's been kind of embarrassing to watch but mildly interesting I gotta admit.

Attached: 1649978654053.jpg (691x747, 64.96K)

Splinter Cell serves as the raw gameplay option for people who want stealth but don't want to get invested into an epic cinematic storyline.

You can skip the cutscenes in MGS, just play it for the gameplay.
Of course, you already knew that you disingenuous Splinter Chud.

the gameplay in MGS didn't get decent until V, and the best Kojima could come up with was a generic modern Ubisoft game lmao

a fun bait, but pretty silly. Splinter Cell and MGS are barely even comparable. They offer a totally different gameplay experience, tone, story etc. I wouldnt even consider them competitors.

>the gameplay in MGS didn't get shitty until V
Fixed it

Played mgs1 mgs2 mgs3 mgs5 and peace walker, got the worst rank on the three first games because they dont have zoomer gameplay

Imagine being The guard in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Fisher, where did ya go, all invisible and shit with your body in the shadows. I totaly cannot see you right there over me with a giant bulb of light behind you. when all he really wants to do is shoot the fucking guy right in the balls. Like seriously. Imagine having to be that Soldier and not only have to ignore the guy in plain fucking sight right in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing the 3 green lights he carries around his head, because they're not the ones who have to walk pass there and watch the fucking elephant in the room jump from 9f onto the ground making the largest sound in the world and you have to act like you didnt noticed it. while he just sits there, load after load, until he perfected the take down. Not only having to tolerate the fucking audacity of hiding in plain fucking sight but his haughty attitude as everyone on here tells you that "DANM THATS THE BEST STEALTH GAME EVER MADE. WHERE DID FISHER GO? IS HE A GHOST OR SOMETHING??". You trained your entire life in the best boot camps in russia and was survived war zones that were considered suicide missions your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Afeganistam. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat thats breaking out on his fucking balls while he just hangs in there waiting for you to pass, smugly assured that you are oblivious to the king of stealth(for that is what he calls himself), the stealth he worked so hard breaking every single light bulb in the previous room. And then the player reloads again, and you know you could kill the fucker before he even finishes climbing the wall but you sit there and endure it, cause you're a fucking Professional. You not going to lose your future main character status in a generic FPS game over this. Just bare it. Hide your face and bare it
