Theyre still around and so is this game? Wow! I havent played since junior year of high school. Was on a private swrver called Ayumi i think it was? It was super fun and I was in this guild called Unholy. Just one guild and maybe like 20 of us.
Now there was this other guild called Hatred. These mfs were all jajajaja's. Not sure where tf they were playing from.
Point is that we destroyed them every fucking weekend in WoE. They had like 5 or 6 overflow guilds and we would fuck them up and it was great. Good times.

I get that original game mechanics and sense of community are there, but if it weren't for them running a commercial product, it would be a lot harder for gravity to shut these servers down. There are private servers running longer than official servers

RO has more soul that any modern game.

I remember I had a lot of fun indeed back in day, my question on the servers was because the official european server was shut down years ago and I don't know where people play now

I dislike ToS because the guides are all not up-to-date and the lategame is complete garbage.

Some pservers are actually bigger than officials.
Warp Portal was working on making RO Transcendance their main product but they closed that the other day. Their remaining server, the old Renewal one, has been reduced to gacha box collection simulator. 20 years of inflation, cash shop and merges from local and foreign servers have ruined it.
Private Servers are the way the game lives.

I find it hilarious that Tree of Savior, a game with so many fundamental problems that had stuff like a furry destroy the games economy by hacking money, outlived MapleStory 2

TalonRO was quite literally pay for godmode.

They are "hiding away" to a certain degree to avoid legal complications, taking their own website down and the discord, I did hear the novaro got sued by gravity but got no further confirmation on that.
TalonRo officially shut down and there is no going back though

This was never true. It looks a bit like you would imagine a successor to RO could look like but there's nothing about the game that's actually like RO. Certainly it hasn't improved over classic RO.

Gravity has the right to shut down the private servers. Players also have the right to not play on any official servers. The people profiting off of private servers are sketchy as fuck.

Private servers literally lasted longer than official servers, you just have to be very careful about which ones you spend money on

I think the private server one has more players than the original ever had, too bad they inadvertently break the game, if a private server was a lookalike of the original stuff it would be ok, but droprates, spawns, items and even new stuff is added into it that has nothing to do with the original game.

I don't remember the exact injection method, but basically some furry was able to execute code that allowed him to generate infinite amounts of money
He then used this money to buy up a lot of items that had regularly set prices, and jacked them up to absurd amounts to fuck the economy up completely for said items
iirc this exploit was also shared among friends, so he was not the only one in the know

The eventual outcome was the game had to be closed down for a week+, as we also found out IMC did not at the time have ANY Database backups, so a rollback was out of the question; so employees had to go through all accounts and check money values and flag those that had suspiciously large amounts and edit/remove the money
