the most unrewarding exploration in an open world
Go at the top of a mountain
Other urls found in this thread:
entitled gamer syndrome
It's about the journey not the blah blah blah
I hate when people are entitled enough to think games should at least have a fraction of the depth that games from 2007 had
you forgot your pic of elden ring to go along with BOTW
I dunno bro, have you tried looking at that mountain and climbing it?
user, what's that on your minimap? to the left of you? is that something maybe?
like in real life
So just like all open world games
I can't explain it but BOTW was the most fun I had playing a video game since I played Twilight Princess for the first time in 2006
I felt something similar with Elden Ring but it went away after the capital
I can't wait for the second one
not RDR2
This is why monster catching games are literally the only genre that justifies an open world but the world is not ready to hear this, it needs another hundred shitty open world games.
>I played Twilight Princess for the first time in 2006
There's your answer. It's nostalgia and you're a 20 something year old low testosterone numale.
RDR2 is you climbing a mountain and your reward is a fucking flower that takes Arthur 10 seconds to fumble around with it before actually getting to love again
>needs a reward, or a collectible around every corner
I honestly hate these type of gamers. I dont want every part of my game to be a dopamine field skinners box.
I'm 30 and have high test because I fuck fat chicks
Next strawman
Is everything on v dield to 11? I like the game and I think mos criticism here is valid but v acts as if the game is literaly unplayable because of those flaws. Its still a really good game. Could it be better, ofc.
yeah I love walking on empty plains for hours and not find anything other than copy-pasted camps
this is what I'm looking for in video games, just walking in empty worlds
Elden Ring made me appreciate Breath of the Wild's Open World even more. While I wish BOTW had dungeons like ER's legacy dungeons, the interactivity in Zelda stomps the hell out of ER. ER had nearly 0 interactive elements to its world, meanwhile I can chop down a tree and launch myself several miles in Zelda.
>he missed all the cool shit in the mountains
Based opinion
Way to admit to everyone you didn't actually play it
games in 2007 didn't have a reward in every nook and cranny
Also, having a consolation prize every at every step isn't depth
> just walking in empty worlds
Strawman aside, that honestly sounds better than 95% of bullshit you casuals enjoy.
But no user, not having collectibles around every corner to appease your silly reptile brain, does not mean the game has to be empty.
Elden Ring got the closest but it's still full of re-used bosses
user don't say that, they copy pasted korok puzzles all over the map
nintendo could literally shit on a plate and you would say it's the best thing ever
Unless you can take that guys hat this is rather pointless.
elden ring re-used more than that
I'm convinced that how a person feels about Breath of the Wild could be a genuine litmus test for whether a person has a soul or not, because you need to have one to enjoy the absolute dedication the team had to freedom and life that they put into the world
youtube.com
.
>I'm convinced that how a person feels about Breath of the Wild could be a genuine litmus test for whether a person has a soul or not
I agree, if someone thinks that sterile sanded down empty piece of shit has actual wonder and exploration and things to find, they cannot have a soul
I'm sorry
There's no cure for your condition
Unlike the real world where you get a trophy every time you go somewhere, right?
Maybe the joy of exploraiton is its own reward, go play your beloved Assassin's Creed games that spew icons at you so you know not to "waste" time actually exploring the map.
what? I dont even like nintendo....
seethe more, you got filtered. go play banjo kazooie
I hate how fucking slow this game is
>Goes to top of mountain
>There is a boss that drops cool weapon
I love Elden Ring
Real life is full of interesting shit to see and find, BotW is fucking emptier and more repetitive than Minecraft
Sure but the bosses are what comes immediately to mind. It needs more of everything in general.
I'm in the middle of playing through BOTW myself and while I do enjoy its world, the fascination of "oh boy I wonder what's over there" disappeared pretty fucking fast.
Whelp, we got one. Sorry, but you're a Husk Person. That's the Bottom Line, Because Stone Cold Said So™
The reward is getting to the top of the mountain
Are you so desensitized and drained of the simple pleasures of life that you can't find enjoyment unless loud noises and flashes and achievements and treasure and other various dopamine droplets await you?
>Maybe the joy of exploraiton is its own reward
wish more games would personify this, and reject collectathons and other retarded bs
>go at the top of a mountain
>literally nothing
>go to a nice looking location
>literally nothing
Factually untrue
see
I have finished the game and never found a cool weapon while exploring
it's always the same garbage from goblin camps
I understand that you are a bitter, cynical person who will never enjoy life because you were born without a soul, but there's no reason to take out that frustration on others
I got filtered by the lack of content
unlucky I guess
why the fuck would someone want to just get to the top of the mountain in a video game for no reason? is there any sense of "accomplishment" in that? it's not like you had to physically struggle to get to it like in real life. you're basically just playing death stranding
see
>the reward is a flat surface with ugly texture
very cool thanks
Good tranny
BotW and TP are nothing alike.
This is why you don't have fun playing video games anymore
Don't you remember being a child and having fun just running around the world of a game doing literally nothing rather than trying to go through a checklist in the most efficient way possible to make sure your time isn't wasted
Yes, theres a lot of talented artists and musicians that make the game aesthetically pleasing.
Doesn't mean its a fun game to play mechanically.
case in point: walking sims
> if you dont agree with me then you have no soul
okay buddy
Just walking around and climbing and exploring the cool environment was fun in botw
That's not true, you also find heaps of generic weapons that break after 2 minutes of usage.
the difference is that going to the top of a mountain in real life takes effort while in a videogame is mindless tedium, even made worse by botw's retarded traversal mechanics that trivialize the experience further. There's no sense of accomplishment, and even worse no tangible reward except a fucking inventory upgrade.
The only people who enjoy BotW are NPCs who also play walking sims.
Btfo
>Don't you remember being a child and having fun just running around the world of a game doing literally nothing
so you're agreeing that this game can only be enjoyed by manchilds with undevelopped brain?
The only people who hate BOTW are NPCs who also play Ubisoft games.
>elden ring
>take four steps to your right
>dungeon
>take four to the left
>gaeol
>four north
>oh shit a dragon
botw2 was delayed due to elden ring >>
you must be blind, cause i always found tons of shit while climbing up random mountains
I liked botw
But yeah it's only slightly better than Ubisoft collectathons
Elden ring beats them all
Maybe BOTW being delayed cause of elden ring is a good thing
No, I just think you don't actually enjoy video games anymore.
You start a game up, you make sure you do everything efficiently, you have a guide up so you can make sure to see every bit of content, you're on a Yea Forums datamine thread seeing all the secrets immediately dumped, you go through the game nitpicking every weird graphic or frame drop while ignoring the love and detail the designer put into the experience, and then you never pick it up again.
Literally soulless.
walking sims are the literal opposite of NPC games though. NPCs do not play walking sims, they play COD and Ubishit (like you).
Memes aside the zora part was such a letdown from someone that had only ocarina of time as their last zelda game.
That island is so empty, the city is so empty it looks like someone coming out of a korean mmorpg. I expected so many zoras around the island and got almost nothing.
Ahh yes the golden turds
And a fire greatsword that does in 3 hits
And all you can get from that shit is a spell which you can’t use, a weapon which you aren’t build for (and probably sucks if it isn’t a Katana), or some shitty shield which is lmao because shields are fucking terrible in ER.
BotW really has traversal down pat. Traversal in ER was taking the horse shaped taxi to the next POI at the edge of the current arena(biome). The more manual navigation in BotW just feels good. It's pretty telling when most people prefer to go on foot(more traversal options available) when heading toward a destination rather than take a horse(vastly faster land speed). And even considering that, people will still dedicate some time to horse wrangling and care just because it's compelling. The same cannot be said about ER's horse.
>explorsble area deeper than botws actual dungeons with a new boss that rewards you with a ring, spell, or weapon
As opposed to a korok seed
What a dumb post
It shouldnt be legal for autists to post here
Is that really worse then a fire Greatsword which you never use because you didn’t build any faith, or because it just had a shit weapon art or moveset
Fucking finally somebody who had the exact same experience as I did
>inb4 reset the counter xdkys
>i choose to ignore things so i can claim there isn't anything to find

>shields are terrible (turtle shield, jelly shield, finger shield, parry shields, spear tank poke builds)
