No? Unless you like novelties.

You should really only get it if you have friends who also have VR.

aside from half life Alyx there are genuinely no VR games, everything else is just a test reel.

Only if the idea of playing VR Chat for hundreds of hours sounds appealing to you. Most VR games are fun for a couple of hours, but get very repetitive and boring pretty quickly. It is also unfortunate that many of the fun games are locked as Oculus exclusives so if you don't want to get Facebook goggles then you are going to miss out on those.

yes, but if you haven't bought into it yet you should probably either wait for the next generation of headsets or get a used one for cheap.
project cambria ("quest 3") is supposed to release this year.

It depends on how much you feel about spending a few hundred dollars to play "half life Alyx". Is this one thing that is worth it?

You might have some kind of nerve damage

Yes and no.
I got a quest 2 because I played HL Alyx and decided I did really want to play it through and Boneworks as well. I only got it because during lockdown, I wasn't spending much and had saved a bunch of spending money.
It's very cool and HL A and Boneworks are both great fun, I'm happy with my purchase and the quest 2 is a pretty great headset.
BUT, and there's quite a but.
It's expensive, the barrier to entry is quite high. You do need a decent amount of space to play and best way is to have a good wifi 6 router so you can play without wires, and there's honestly not much in the way of games that are worthwhile playing coming to VR.
You're looking at a small handful of games and not much on the horizon for a rather expensive headset and not that many games.
They're very fun and a great experience, but there's not much.
IMO, it's worth for the games if you're ok with spending the money.

I had enough fun with spaceship/plane games in VR to prevent buyers remorse, but if those don't interest you there isn't really much to play.

Still zero (0) games

If you are coomer, definitively.

What's the point?

Not until PSVR2 launches

Wait till you see the haptic feedback VR onahole.

Only for porn. Quest 2 can't carry VR because they're selling a gimmick to normies who will move on, it has to be game companies

Yes, it's the best game of all time

I have an HTC vive cosmos. I was thinking about playing VR chat and ERPing with other people. Is it really that good? Should I get an onahole to enhance the experience?

dumb question but I would to know if you use it for watching movies (in virtual cinema or whatever it's called) or 3d videos.
Is it good or not worth it?

It's so good my friends don't even want to play other videogames anymore and spend every friday night having drunken virtual sex with other men

VR is worth it for emuVR alone. everything else that vr can do is a bonus.

How about for Skyrim VR?

sounds like your friends are gay!

It's worth it for the VR porn

cool to shoot bows

man they're not gay!
they have relations with women! and sex with men.

will we ever get full body haptic feedback that feels real? i imagine it's going to be a $3500 accessory that looks like an iron maiden

only did CGI blender porn, but that shit is so good. Almost like you're getting a real footjob.

Do you like space or flight sim games?

Why is pic related so cute bros?

well I got news for your friends buddy.
That means they're gay!

HopeskyD_feet.jpg
Yes

VR porn and weed has ruined my brain I think. I no longer feel the same pleasure of basic things anymore

Same time when they release the brazen bull.

because there are amazing cgi blender animations of meru getting fucked

VR Chat, Waifu games, and sex games are the best. Most made for VR games are unpolished and early access and never go anywhere.

If you have a good enough graphics card you can mod some games to be VR, like GTAV. But you need a really good graphics card to get a stable frame rate in those.

This is now a VR general

Yes, dont listen to salty people who cant afford it, if you dont mind spending the extra cash and your computer can handle it(dont get the quest for the built in computer, use wireless PCVR instead) then it's amazing. There is plenty of games already and more are constantly developed. I thought im going to buy my rift and it's going to lay in a corner for most of the time but i dont think there was a week in which i didn't touch it for the past two years i own it. Some of my best gaming moments were in VR and i don't really get excited for gaming anymore except for virtual reality news. Porn is great too and there is nothing better than getting high on weed or mdma and playing VR, the experience is surreal.

Also a bit of a mixed bag. I think it'll work for 3D movies and yeah VR vids work and are cool and VR porn works well too and works well.
The problem is that the headset isn't great to wear for extended periods of time. It's quite heavy on your face and because it's an all in one unit as well, it gets pretty warm.
You absolutely can use it for that stuff and it's fine for about an hour, but at about 2 hours, it gets kinda uncomfortable.
It is good and it'll work and the 3D stuff works very well, but wearing it for more than 4 hours would be a stretch for me. I'd be ok with 3 if I was invested enough in the game and I think I could get through a regular 120min movie, but more than that and I'd need a break.
Hope that helps.
Tbh, there's much more VR content than I thought there'd be and the VR tracking the quest 2 does just with cameras is very impressive imo.
It's worth it if you can afford to drop the money on it and not miss the money.

>Is VR worth it
never been

Its amazing but needs a ton of mod, so basically like normal skyrim.

I like to get a beer, lay down on a beanbag in the middle of my room and turn on a movie in bigscreen VR cinema hall, feels great. Ofc the quality is better if you just use your screen but the atmosphere is better in vr, and i dont find it uncomfortable like a lot of people. Also i use a rift s, i believe the quest isn't as good for this because it gets hot.

>Is VR worth it
Not for another 5 to 10 years. Biggest barrier is cost and the discomfort of having a hot brick strapped to your forehead. The initial buzz for VR has also gone off a cliff so it will take a while for these things to be improved.

I doubt VR will really go beyond a novelty just because most games are in third person outside of a few genres just because it is much less disorienting. Why you can do VR in 3rd person too it doesn't really add much.

thanks, yeah I guess it's probably better to wait for more comfortable headsets before investing (I'm not really interested in vr games, just movies and videos).

>Ofc the quality is better if you just use your screen but the atmosphere is better in vr
why? the resolution is not high enough?

Depends on the headset, in my experience the quality is totally okay, just doesn't look as great as on a normal screen, also the screendoor effect is noticeable but goes away if you don't focus on it.

I love VR shooters ever since I got a rifle stock. It's fucking awesome. I'm too cynical to enjoy 99% of video games, but this works for me.

Year is 1922: virgin women in every corner. virgin men nowhere to be found
Year is 2022: virgin men in every corner. virgin women nowhere to be found

Wtf happened bros? Why i'm almost 30 and never touched intimately a woman

wrong thread robot

By the time it's "worth it" you won't need to make a thread on Yea Forums to ask if it's worth it

She's good damn!

100 years ago we were recovering from a war where thousands of men died

>dont listen to salty people who cant afford it
VRfags still using this argument even now that headsets are dirty cheap and literally every other PC part is more expensive?

And yet antiVRfags still use cost as one of the main downsides?

Absolutely, if your talking an oculas quest 2, sure it isn't the most powerful, highest res and sure the battery life is fucking appalling also need fb (althoughi heard some shit about that being axed as a requirement), however, wireless VR for that price tag, you can fuck off if you think k spending £1000 on a VR is worth it, £250-300 is a good deal. Pirate all your VR games.

>You don't even have to cover your mouth
Wait how does this work exactly then?

We're in the Atari/NES generation of VR. Mostly shit, couple gems, can have fun with it if you really like the concept but 99% of what is currently released will be viewed as unplayable dogshit in ten years.

>why? the resolution is not high enough?
I'm the other quoted guy, but it's kinda to do with the resolution, but I'll try and explain.
So, you've got your VR headset and it's resolution is let's say 2k per eye (as the quest's is close-ish, I believe) and you open up your virtual cinema screen, which is a big 4k movie screen and you're in a virtual cinema.
The actual resolution of that screen can't actually be 4k because the image each eye gets is ~2k and if you try to get closer to the screen, you're now looking at a section of the 4k screen and that'll be less than a screen's resolution.
Essentially, it's a resolution problem, but you've also got the screen pressed to your face that's pretending to be 4k.
If you don't move closer to see the screen, it'll probably be good enough to feel movie-like and it's surprisingly immersive in a way that is hard to appreciate without going hands-on.
If you're actually not going to play games, it's not worth it, but depending on what movies and videos you're talking about it may actually be worth.
Do you just want a big movie screen experience from the comfort of your bedroom?

This. But Half-Life Alyx is so good it almost makes it worth the price.

probably because you will play half life alyx, try a few of the awful VR tech demos and then never really use the thing again
so you're getting one game and a half worth of use from a device that costs more than $100
Do you understand that not being worth the money isn't the same as not being able to afford it?

Does this work the same with penis'?

Dunno mate, playing all the oldies like Half Life, Doom, RTCW in wireless VR has been pretty kino so far desu. Walking Dead is fun too. Fallout VR is good but had to spend literal days tweaking it & it still has pretty frequent stutters even now. Picked up a new Quest 2 256gb for £200 on ebay

I own a quest 2 and like it a lot, but I agree 100%. It's a gimmick and aside from Half Life Alyx and imo, Boneworks, there's little else actually worth playing.
The tech is there, it's impressive and it works well, but there's a dearth of games on it. Stress Level Zero are at least trying to create a decent library but it just feels like game studios just aren't interested in creating vr titles.

It theorically would but you know those fags will not allow it.

Croteam VR bundle or into the radius?

Honestly even if they keep improving the googles they will never be as comfortable as just not wearing VR googles which will always be a problem for extended play sessions.
There is also the part where VR makes something a third of the population ill because thanks to us living in a comfortable and mostly peaceful world a very large % of the population are weak genetic dead ends that would have been culled for getting motion sickness in any sane society.
There is also the fact that a VR headset can't just replace tv screen/monitors entirely so you can't try to sell it as a replacement for those because they will still be needed.

I hope VR one day becomes something more than what it is right now but I honestly doubt it at this point

>few of the awful vr tech demos
Why participate in vr threads if you have no knowledge about the topic?

My favourite vr games:
Alyx
Blade & Sorcery
VTOL VR
Phasmophoby
Fallout 4VR
Skyrim VR
Population One
Pavlov VR
Into the radius
TWD
Elite dangerous
H3VR
Eleven tennis
Walkabout minigolf
Beat saber
Superhot
The climb
Hitman 3

What this list doesnt include:
>a shit ton of games i've spent a couple of hours in and having a lot of fun
>modded non-vr games to work flawlessly in vr including GTAV, Minecraft, HL1, 2 and many more
>racing/driving/flying simulators that i can no longer use on a flat screen because of how much better they are in vr it's almost unplayable otherwise.

None of these games are tech demos and every single one listed has between 20 to 200 hours in them right now, more every day.

This shit is why VR is dead.
This shit is worthless gimmicky trash that nobody is going to use.
Countless work-hours have been wasted to develop a novelty shit that's so incredibly narrow in usage that's not even ever going to be implemented in any game or piece of softaware.

Were the engineers that made this trash aware that they were working on something useless? Or were they convinced that they were improving VR?

INstead of solving the issue with locomotion they wast time with this shit.
