You DO use studio reference headphones for gaming right user?

I use senn 599hd
Is that a studio ref headphone?

I use a pair of DT-770s because they were cheap

No. I have two pairs of studio ref monitors since i have a studio. never use headphones, but i have a lineup of ATs collected over the years

No. Good headphones though, only issue is the headband cannot be replaced and mine is getting worn.

I can only use earbuds because I cant stand anything over my ears
Its sad, I know

HD600

i use a pair of 5'' studio monitors and DT770 pros so yeah

Same, I even use the old version since i hate having the new type stuck inside the ear

Attached: url.png (1028x794, 944.54K)

I use my work headphones. Sennheiser HD 25 II.

Yeah, I use k712 pro's

Attached: SHP9500.jpg (640x738, 71.38K)

lmao this nigga usin' headphones

Using the cuff over ear headphones for long periods of time is a good way to get tinnitus anyways

no i dont use headphones i dont want a gamer dent or go bald

If you think you need more you're a clueless consoomer.

Attached: design-medium.jpg (1000x563, 125.97K)

>The DAC more expensive then the headphones

Attached: a7c.jpg (1080x854, 63.97K)

Let's say price is no issue, what is objectively the best headphones for overall/general PC gaming?

Probably that one headphone that was so good it made Linus cry.

Attached: EK94mlzUEAEc5TB.jpg (1280x640, 91.31K)

No, I have a full 5.1 set up with biamped speakers.

Reference headphones are at best fake 2.1 which is perfect for listening to music. Useless for film/kino/gaming.

I actually use my reference headphones when I want to practice guitar late at night or if I want to listen to music late at night during the week.

i probably should add something about comfort, because i'm not so sure about wanting to look like a cyberman

Attached: cyberman.jpg (768x1024, 167.21K)

There isn't one. If price is no issue, buy whatever sounds good to you. If all of them suck, buy what feels comfortable then EQ them to what sounds good.

There is no best option.
It's like asking what's the best alcohol free beer.
You've already fucked up.
If moneys no object buy a decent size house make a cinema room with 7.1/9.1 wired surround with nice speakers, reference if you want hear what the people who edited it heard.

Ones that are comfortable, as you age you lose the ability to hear certain frequencies so spending thousands of dollars on headphones or audio setups is stupid

meze empyrean are about the best you can get without getting absolutely retarded with the price

Attached: design-medium.jpg (1000x563, 144.75K)

Same, heard someone say they are not good for vidya though and that I should buy open backs

Attached: 1639705203135.webm (686x484, 275.13K)

HD800s are the best I've personally tried for longer than 5 hours, but you need a godlike setup to run those

for me its the superlux hd 681's, but good choice

If you want superior sound and don't want neighbours to whine, yes

thinking about getting Beyerdynamic DT 880 250 Ohm or Sennheiser HD 599
thoughts?

Attached: 18766.jpg (435x600, 35.99K)

no, IEM nigger

Between your two picks the Beyer is the better choice, the 880 punches way above the 599 weight, you would need a more expensive Sennheiser to outweigh that Beyer.

Not reference but HD600 are pretty rad.

>gaming headset was more durable, comfortable and the same sound quality of the overpriced studio garbage I bought
>my gaming headset version gets replaced by a terrible cheap cashgrab using the fame of the older version to boost sales
We really can't have nice things.

I use a 5.1 system or studio phones for gaming and music yes.

This.

If money is not an issue AND you don't want to go down the rabbit hole of messing with Amps then the Meze Empyrean is the best High-End headphone that will sound fantastic even if you plug in some phone (those that have a headphone jack still).

Yeah, I use this.

Nah but I use HS8’s sometimes if I decide to play vidya during the day. Most of the time I’m using HD558’s with the foam mod

>HD600
>not reference
You wot m8? Sennheiser literally set a standard when they released those headphones decades ago, they are still being sold brand new for a reason.

IEMs are better I can lay down with them comfortably and wear just one in my ear without looking like a retard.

I have the orange AKGs and a FIO DAC.

Im also retarded ask my anythig

Can't go wrong with that, all you need is a Walkman too, the good stuff, not the chinese trash made today.

Look at what sound engineers use. They usually don't waste money on diamond caterpillar jizz coated wires.

What model is that? I have a similar one except the rim is red. Solid headphones and low price too, unlike "gaming" ones

What are THE comfiest pair of headphones I can wear that sit lightly on the top of my head and don't hurt my ears/around my ears after protracted use? Most comfortable pair I've owned is some older AKGs that looked like OP. I'm using a pair of sony noise cancelling that are excellent at being headphones but not so great after wearing them for 4 hours.

What's the point of studio reference headphones?

user, that is the Meze Empyrean, that thing costs 3000 dollars, if you have something similar that was low price you either are a rich dude who scoffs at something tagged at 3k or you own some bootleg headphone that just happens to look like the Empyrean.

Probably to make it easier to discern sound in music so you can make adjustments and whatnot.
Its mostly bs anyway.

They sound better than any "gaming" headset out there, easily. Some can even go by cheaper than whatever overpriced trash that Razer and Steelseries puts out, you don't necessarily need to break bank to own reference level headphones.

Those are samson sr850 and they cost 50 bucks you retard

To mix the audio ofc without using biased speakers that would lead the recording to sound like shit on some other common systems.
If you did the master using some super bass boosted Beats you can understand what would happen.

From a consumer, not professional perspective? The illusion of being a professional, also proof that marketing is much more powerful than just making a good product.

Are you high? The Samson sr850 and Meze Empyrean look absolutely nothing alike.

This thinking is kinda retarded. if you are trying to make the best experience from the recording you shouldn't use a premium sound tester, you should use the fucking stereos most people will use to listen to that recording.

dt770/880/990 are pretty comfy
I've used 880s for around 8 years now, for around 8 hours a day every day.
I've changed the pads 3 times (also I wash them every few months as they suck up sweat). Had to change the plastic side clips once, around a year ago, as they split in the middle.

Hey those are literally my headphones. Good quality but I wish the there was more padding on the head rest

No, but I have been using AKG K271 MKII for the past decade.

maybe you need glasses

Thanks for the recommendation, will look into it.

No I use a Logitech G435 which sounds really muffled

They sound great because they are pretty much a replica of a classic AKG headphone, you can actually get that instead, they aren't expensive.

No I use STAX.

same here brother, mine's held on with masking tape at the moment

ATH-WP900 are the ones my head and ears love. But any big enough over-ear phones will work.

Gaming sets are a worst of both worlds item. Sound is bad and mic is bad. It's better to buy good headphones and a good mic separately, then hook them up.

Money definitely needs to be not an issue with these, the Abyss 1226 needs separate gear like great DACs and Amps to even pump a sound out of it. If you have money then this is pretty much the endgame of headphones, only actual crazy expensive speakers can sound better.

those are really ugly

love them
