Shouldn't controllers be higher quality considering they're so much more expensive nowadays?

Controllers peaked at DS3.

Yes. But the greed of corporations knows no bounds. It's why I grabbed as many wired 360 controllers as I could once they started to vanish. You will never see a sturdy and comfortable unit like that again.

but hey now you can flick the thing to open the menu
ISNT THAT NEAT?
YOU WANTED THIS RIGHT?

I liked the xbox1 controller

my 360 started to drift
he was a trooper lasted for at least 8 years
and needed to open it only once because A button was getting stuck after Yakuza

>sloped, untextured triggers

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!

>sturdy
>Playstation controller
You could snap it in two with your bare hands with ease. Sony controllers have always had flimsy construction compared to the other platforms. They don't build them to withstand "gamer rage" or anything.

The xbox1 controller is pretty ok but it isn't as good as the xbox 360 one which makes it more insulting considering how much more expensive it is

Xbox One and Series X controllers are perfect designs but they start to have issues after a month's light usage.

Do you zoomers not know how it works? Faster we develop new tech and more trends, cheaper lower the quality. In all consumer goods.

No
>had a 360 controller since like 2012
>receiver died so I had to replace it in 2020
>bought a DS5 because why not, seems to work on PC
>works fine
>R1 breaks after two weeks, replace it
>stick starts drifting after a few months, replace it and get a Series X controller instead
>A button double taps after a month, replace it
>works fine until a week ago where suddenly the stick signal gets "stuck" halfway on the Y axis until I move it
>can't replace it because DS5 and Series X controllers are out of stock at the shop I bought them from
Fucking shit quality controllers all around. But I am really glad that for once I chose to get a €5 3 year insurance thing because I'm burning through those fuckers real fucking fast.

usb port of mine got dented really quick
so now its just collecting the dust since its the one that doesn't just connect wirelessly to the pc

>untextured
wdym? It's not completely smooth plastic

I just want a controller which doesn't drift, who want some shitty gyro or shitty gimmicks? no one really uses that shit.

They aren't getting cheaper tho

I'm using dualsense on PC and I don't like it. Too big and heavy. It got drift problem after ~6 months.

Clean your controllers

the DS3 fucking sucks

cheaper made*

Dualsense has the best quality parts out of all sony controllers, what are you on about?

I wasn't aware Sony made wired 360 controllers.
> It's why I grabbed as many wired 360 controllers...
Idiot.

Dualsense is a flimsy piece of shit with drift issues and faulty triggers. There's a reason Sony keeps getting sued over it.

Why should they waste money making quality controllers? They know you have to either buy the ones they make or else you can't use your console.

this $25 chink controller is unironically the best controller I ever used

fpwp

Uses the Same joystick mechanism as ds4 and xbox controllers.
Got two dualsense controllers, neither shows any drift.

That shit drifts in six months

1 year in use and it has no problem here

i like it too honestly, wish the dpad was better but it's better than the switch pro for that at least

>perfect designs
>AA batteries and no gyro
Lol

who needs gyro?

Gyro is a stupid gimmick.

Didn't they used to ship a controller with consoles? Very jewy to not include essential peripherals. Its like shipping a TV without the remote.

Planned obsolescence. Companies purposefully shorten the lifespan of a product to get you to purchase it again within the product lifecycle. Headphones, controllers, phones, etc. They all follow the same principles.

Friend gave me his second ds4, i charged it with my phone's quick charger the first day, all fine.
Second day and now it doesn't charge, i plug it on my pc and it doesn't recognize it, says it malfunctioned, did i fry it?

It's too smooth for the lack of contour. The resistance is also pretty high, which doesn't help.

Faggots do. No good games use memeshit like that. Also what a nigger, complaining about the ability to replace batteries in a wireless device.

It's possible, those things were never designed to be charged by a quick charger. Maybe you have one of the earlier models, because mine will not charge at all unless it's from a low power USB source. I've tried charging it with a phone charger but it just did nothing.

Yeah they're more expensive and shittier but isn't it cool when you find the one game that barely uses a retarded feature like built in speakers and gyro control?

Oh they used to do more than just that.

DO NOT REDEEM!

I bought a Series X controller for PC usage and the right bumper died within 8 months. Seems to be a common issue reading up on it.

You could say the same about mice as well. $200AUD+ for the Viper Ultimate or Superlite and both have been cheaped out on. Fucking joke. I'll pay the money for a good product.

Since we're shitting in gyro I want to take this opportunity to shit on DS4s touchpad.

None of my chinkshit controllers drifted. Xbox ones did.

>can be used to replace stick camera completely
>stupid gimmick

The DS1-2-3 last forever but the DS4 and Dual Sense are complete trash. Online these controllers sell for almost a $100 but won't even go a full year without issues.

The touchpad was pretty neat when properly configures through Steam though, I got something like 6 extra hotkeys for playing PSO2 out of it instead of having to scroll through the bars with the dpad.

>gyro
only snoy is stupid enough to push this shit since ps3

Reminder that the main function of this device is entirely dependant on a high precision part mass produced for cents with QA goal set below it functioning without flaws and rated for a life expectancy of only a couple of months of moderate use.

Its just a d pad
Its just doesn't look like one

Where the fuck did all that money go?

Is there a modern controller that comes with a control pad that's anywhere near as tactile and precise as the original SNES control pad? It feels like control pads are an afterthought these days.

Bullshit. Only the first generation of DS3 has any build quality.

they aren't because the consumers, instead of complaining, just lap it up and settle for mediocre "fixes" and shit like that.

snoy and Jewtindo are mimicing Apple that sold faulty chargers with every phone so people keep buying a new ones every few months and they are very expensive

Nintendo then:
>want Wind Waker but haven't played the N64 Zeldas yet? No problem senpai, we'll get you all caught up
Nintendo now:
>that'll be $300 for the console, $60 for the game, $20 for the DLC pass, a $50 subscription to play any of the older games and we may shit out some lazy remasters later at full price if you beg us hard enough!

I fucking hate the nintendo pro controller. It has a great and comfortable design but it was made from such a cheap quality that I have to open it up every three months if I want them to have satisfying buttons clicks and actually have a decent experience. I wish I bought a knockoff, they are made better.

Rule of thumb with chargers:
>If it's USB-C, you'll probably be fine, but should still be wary. USB-C is designed to only pull as much power as it needs from the block. I hear the Switch's USB-C is kinda stupid tho and can fry your switch so be careful with that.
>If it's Micro-USB, stick to OEM chargers/charger methods or a low wattage block. I wouldn't charge a DS4 with a block
>OEM Chargers/Charging methods are of course the most obvious way to prevent issues.

I just wish they'd all have a barebones option
No touchpad, light bar, vibration, speaker, internal battery; just a cheap stock controller that doesn't fuckin drift or have sticky buttons

Higher quality means they last longer, which means you won't have to buy another one. that's just bad business.

They technically are, it's just that ALPS have lowered their quality from about 2010 onwards so the sticks have suffered across the board.

Of course not. How else is globohomo gonna get you to buy more?

>if I want them to have satisfying buttons clicks and actually have a decent experience.
They aren't meant to click you idiot.

it's literal robbery to put Alps potentiometers on your controllers and sell them for 100 dollars a pop.

I am so fucking tired of this shit failing in my controller that I bought 2 months ago.
What the fuck is this shit, and, can I replace it with a good quality one without soldering anything?

I mean the pressing of the bottoms become looser and looser with the sensitivity getting fucked up because it has spaces between a lot of the pieces. Stop being retarded.

The DS3 is definitely durable. Had it since day one and still works fine.

What species was this controller designed for (and why)?

Attached: n64.jpg (460x341, 15.3K)

>I mean the pressing of the bottoms become looser and looser with the sensitivity getting fucked up because it has spaces between a lot of the pieces
Maybe it has something to do with you cracking it open every three months to "adjust" it. I've had my pro controller since it launched and never came into that issue.

Pic-unrelated? That was the beginning of overpriced cheap controllers
>uses cheaper parts and shatters after it makes accidental (or intentional) contact, forcing you to go out and buy another one for an obscene amount of money while the original NES controller is still going strong despite taking more abuse
Nah, controllers by that point have definitely regressed on the durability level. DS3 was a little bit more sturdier than the DS2 (which is the flimsiest controller ever made), but still cheap shit
