Eh, you can argue that in hindsight but there's nothing about LBs that is indicative of Dynamis necessarily being involved.

my theory is that because they were immortal the aether was decaying due to no rebirth cycle, so aether started corrupting and caused the final days. hydaelyn brought death and mortality to the realm to ensure they would continue on.

I honestly found it better than I was expecting. When the patches started hinting and eventually saying that garlmald was going to shit I was initially pissed because I wanted my long promised "finish the fight" dlc where we invade them, which obviously wasn't happening. But having played it, I think they made the right choice. You can see the difference when they try the more grounded war approach to story with SB compared to the high fantasy of ShB, one is clearly superior.
My only real grip left is NO ANIMA TRIAL, FUCCCK

Does anyone actually deny that the writers just looked back for any hanging threads and tried to make a story building off of what's there? That's actually what I liked about the story. What I want from XIV's story is basically what Metal Gear does with history. Pull something that happened in FF lore (like warriors of light vs dark) and build a story around it. The best it will ever be is professional FF fan fiction.

Just a few patches before Endwalker did they first "establish" that the source of the final days was coming from within, through a single line spoken by an optional NPC who just mentions that they heard a keening within the planet, which people took and ran with, assuming the keening to be the cause of the final days and not caused by them.

Pretty sure there were multiple mentions of a sound from within the planet being the cause.

I remember playing through a section where you like go back in time and visit Cid's past or something but I started a new character and that quest never popped up. I think it was about the superweapon Cid's father was obsessed with and it's what caused him to flee Garlemald.

It's part of the Bozja questline, not the MSQ.

The Meteion you meet isn't singularly responsible for the final days, there are many of them and they come together to form the Endsinger, which you destroy. The Meteion you met earlier tries to reason with the Endsinger before the fight.
