it's the best one don't @ me. Just wait till you get to FLUX
On rails and the entire game feels like a tutorial
The last GOOD Final Fantasy before the Enix merger. RIP Soft.
this with the constant cutscene to cutscene start and stop pacing was so awful, even the decentish combat and goofy as heck character moments couldn't make up for it. Easily one of the worst FF games ever made, probably bottom 5.
great aesthetics
10 is to 9 what 7 is to 6 and 9 is the unironic best game in the franchise, so 10 is rightfully the second best game
I'm sorry you were born after the merger. RPGs back then had classes
Only final fantasy game with an emotional ending user.
I guess 6 did also but snes graphics couldnt do what this ending did.
"I hate you"
The world and the setting is cool, so are the visuals, but pacing the whole game around cutscene-walk forward-cutscene kinda ruined it. It's just never fun to play outside the combat.
Its funny that ffxiii gets shit for being linear and a hallway game when x is exactly the same.
X is actually fun and good though.
Yuna's memory sphere was kino. Always like it when you see yourself/the player character from a different perspective like in this cutscene
XIII feels worse because you're in literal not figurative hallways. Lightning running in mecha city hallway. Now let's repeat that with Snow. Next let's repeat it with Sazh and Vanille. To be fair I don't remember it that well, but I think something like 70% of the story is set in Cocoon and that all felt like a prologue to get to Pulse or whatever it was called. They should have had like 2-3 hours in Cocoon and then you get dumped to Pulse. It's a narrative issue
Oh god, here comes the XIIIcopers trying to drag their shitty game down with X.
No
Did you not play past the first hour? That section you described is literally just the first hour or so of the game. Everything after is treated like level chapters with a changing cast
>Literally says in that post that X is actually fun and good, implying I didn't think XIII was good.
Work onnyour reading comprehension
they came off of 1999-2000 kino
I was in a coffee shop, running away from home when I heard the news. Our hero, Jecht, gone. Vanished into thin air! My dad must have been his biggest fan. I knew how sad he’d be. Heck, we all were that day. “Zanar,” I says to myself, “What are you thinking?” I went running straight back home. We sat up talking ’bout Jecht all night. My dad and I never talked so much
It's an absolute slog with braindead quicktime event cutscene combat and insane amounts of filler fights to pad out the game. Oh and those fucking trials, holy shit could they have made them any more dull?
this game takes me back to a time when i was 11 and my lil bro was living with my mother and i was living with dad.
i would just play this by myself because i was alone, always alone, and this game taught me all the emotional intelligence i could have in life
was very lucky to have such a game at that time in life
Final fantasy, more like filtered fantasy
It didn't pass through my bullshit filter that's for sure, I'll never get the ones worshiping this turd.
Yeah I remember running around in similar environments with the whole cast for much of the Cocoon section with the exception of a jungle biome with Vanille or something . Only part I thought was cool was when Snow rescues Hope from an apartment and fights in a big courtyard. I just think they should have gotten to Pulse way earlier
I have been infatuated with this game ever since I first saw it on cinematech. I was at the mercy of renting games as a kid and so I never got a chance to play it until about a year ago. I believe I royally fucked up the sphere grid though. I beat Seymour on the side of the mountain and lulu still doesnt have any advanced black magic and I have somehow accrued none of the things to unlock stuff thats locked on the grid. Should I just restart my game?
>Every Blitzer knows: when you got the ball, you gotta score!
Hope you became a sportsball chad user
It's been a while since I've played it but if you can get Hastega and some high damage dealers then it'll carry you far. Mountain Seymour is one of the hardest fights in the game, you have another tough one coming up soon but if you can get through that the game opens up and you can grind for levels and gear.
Played this for the first time not too long ago, was 5 when it came out. When I first got to the island I had this overwhelming nostalgia sensation come together that has popped up in my mind every so often the past few years especially. Its like a domination of the warm colors of the island with the music and the menu designs, I don't know it just felt like I was back I'm the early 2000s, a super warm and happy feeling. Reminded me of going to k mart and dumb stuff when I was a kid. Must be what people were into with vaporwave or something, but it was like a really authentic reminiscing felt good man.
>always thought this was gay Disney tranime shit
You were right
Shit feels like KH lite
You listened to memes, but I'm glad you came around in the end, user.
No. You can farm anything you need for the sphere grid from the monster arena.
maybe you should stop yiffing roadkill. Its giving you permanent damage
;_;
Rikku's mix ability is the most absurdly broken thing in the game, you can use it to beat anything.
Never forget what they took from you.
I like the hd remaster face better.
The change to Tidus is far worse
same
I do for yuna but the rest look worse
XIII feels like a railroad because you have zero reason to stop going forward. For most of the game, there's no towns to explore, no tantalizingly walled off content you know you'll come back to later, no feeling that you have any agency at all. Yes I know the game is trying to evoke that feeling, I still don't like it. The character swaps don't make the world feel bigger, it just makes it feel like it revolves around a couple of characters marching down their respective hallways.
X has towns you can run around and relax in, it breaks up the pacing of the hallway journey more not by giving you another set of characters to do it in, but by showing you more of Spira. The world feels bigger as a result.
I remember running down the road hearing that part for the 1st time and just knowing I was playing a special game. The whole game just had this wistful, melancholic feel to it I don't find often. Life, death, the end of things. Knowing it's all meaningless but pushing forward none the less. Mono no aware all over the place.
youtu.be
how hard is it to get the stuff for trio of 9999?
This a good entry into FF?
Its been a long time but i really dont remember any towns in X at all. Were there really towns? At least Im almost positive they weren't like the snes or ps1 towns or at least as common.
quicktime event cutscene combat?
No. Play V, Tactics, IZJS, XIII-LR, and then drop the series.
not the best, but it's pretty close
definitely has the best OST though
Besaid, Luca, Guadosalam, etc. They weren't huge but you could still explore around a bit and talk to people, there were also the rest stations scattered across the game
V is the only good one on that list

How did they go from yearly kino to entire childhood lifetime blunders?
That's because they made her look prettier/softer, more in line with Chinese beauty standards and less like a constantly exhausted priest on her death march.
Yes. Make sure you play on expert sphere grid though.
X's story becomes better the more I replay the game, I notice little nuances I didn't before. It's a shame it's stained by how awful Seymour is and the dumb as fuck unsent concept.
They are all good, since good games are about the gameplay. Not the story for casuals.
>jobfag
It's called useful tools and customization which FF didn't start.
>ywn live in Luca

>less like a constantly exhausted priest on her death march.
that's a good observation
>revolutionary facial animations throughout the entire game
>remake removes them entirely
WOWWWWWWWw
>chinks remake the game
>all emotion, expression and soul is removed
they just cant help themselves
Congratulations, OP, you discovered the GOAT final fantasy game
Why though?
>tfw i only played the hd remake when it came out on ps3
Sh-should I emulate the ps2 version now? I've kinda been wanting to replay it..
>we will never get ffx-0 where you play as Jecht, Auron and Brasca on their broventure
What a missed opportunity.
Yes. Also do not be afraid to use savestate because the game has unskipable 20+ minute long cutscenes before super hard bosses with party instakill moves.
