Breath of the Wild is fucking garbage and it baffles me how Zelda "fans" can eat it up. Twilight Princess and ALttP are still the best Zelda games with ALBW as a runner up.

I was honestly disappointed in Ocarina the first time I played it, but it grew on me over time.
Had tons of fun for the first few hours of BotW, but it grew stale pretty quickly.
LttP is a perfect game and no other Zelda even comes close.

Even WWE Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin thinks BotW is better than OOT.

Nah some like it still, mostly the older ones that can appreciate the fact you can play for 5 minutes at a time and still make progress unlike other titles. It follows a lot of mobile game designs where a dopamine is never more than 5 minutes away, which is smart considering the Switch is a portable.

A fair amount I'd say given their newest big Zelda game is preferred 2 to 1 over the old beloved classic.

Not really, the original Zelda still follows a more standard formula with a sense of character progression and dungeon crawling. Not being able to be 1 shot from full health kind of limits the need for heart container upgrades, having less health isn't even a bad thing when it's nearly impossible to be one shot outside of 2 or so multihit moves that you can still dodge because the shit food heals you to full easier.

BotW is closer to something like Just Cause than the original Zelda. You can remove the Zelda skin and it won't feel like a Zelda game at all, which we've seen with clones like Genshin Impact and Immortals Fenix Rising. Meanwhile something like Tunic feels very much like Zelda even with the furry skin.

How anybody could claim that clunky, glitchy, ugly, mess is “better,” is beyond me.
I get it. You nostalgiafags loved it as kids. And additionally, I get it. It was “ground breaking” (never mind the fact that plenty of other ground breaking, and one could argue even more groundbreaking, games came out that year like half-life, mgs, etc.).

I'd much rather play something short and focused like OoT again. BotW loses quite a bit of its luster after the initial playthrough once you've explored everything. I just don't find open world games very replayable in general though.

I really do wish that BoTW was more like the original Zelda. It's what I envisioned when I first saw it. I can't think of another game that has the same kind of gameplay in that way.
