That`s something i don`t buy personally. Empyrean shadows were designed by the Two fingers to kill their masters, if they ever were to go against the Greater Will, so they must be strong as hell.
Maliketh already killed a former Empyreanin the gloam eyed queen. We don`t know anything about Miquella or Malenias shadows, maybethey had/have a shared one?
Also Blaidd is killed by us, so i dunno where to put him. After all, it is also us who kill off all the demigods, so idk if it`s fair to say he is weak.

Maliketh without Death Rune is nothing. Blaidd is also not that strong. Not demigod level definitely. We you fight Rot'd Radahn he doesn't look like he can 1 vs 1 Radahn for sure.

When I found that mask I was at the beginning of Ranni's questline so I was paranoid all through it thinking Blaidd was going to be replaced by an assassin at some point and you failed the questline if you didn't kill the impostor first.
When Iji said Blaidd was "on an important mission somewhere else" I was sure that was the hint that the next time I met Blaidd it was going to be an impostor.

No, it’s an actual “shadow”. The shadows are the half-beasts. It’s later shown that the fingers have other assassins they use (the black knives for some reason) that may have used wolf masks to perform their duties.

Reminder that after a certain point in Ranni's quest when Iji is killed, he is killed with the Godskin, Godslayer Black Flame despite the evidence the Black Knife Assassins attacked him (dead bodies near Iji) and if they killed Iji, then he should be on fire with the Black and Red flame they use
