tumblr is actually pretty alright nowadays. Tons of people left in the last couple years, so now its just surreal/absurdist shitposting.
It almost feels like the salad days of Yea Forums back in the 2000s. All the best OC memes get made there now, and every so often, one will break out and reach twitter or here.

Tumblr lost 80-90% of it's activity post-porn ban before bottoming out and starting it's current extremely slow recovery and is STILL more active/culturally relevant than Yea Forums.

Personally, I think it was around 2011 that it started getting worse.
Before 2011 it was pretty good and many interesting and funny threads were posted, the occasional b8 or feels thread but it wasn't half the catalog.

Around 2014/15 I think the twatter posting got out of hand, people kept begging for mods to delete that crap but they didnt care so it became worse and worse.
Pol posting increased and waves of normies / plebbit fags came too until they outnumbered us.

Around 2016, when Facebook started cracking down on meme groups a lot of young people saw Yea Forums as this raw, fabled place they could go and act like total fucking morons and people would like it.

Now you see the result is this self-perpetuating style of facebook/discord tier raiding.
The biggest contributor is sometime since then "dont listen to haters" culture became a thing and now everyone treats criticism as something to just outright ignore so smugposting has gone through the roof as well as baiting, these are all things that normalfags do to each other constantly.

It's part of the general assimilation of Yea Forums, that's why 80% of the memes here are from Twitter/TikTok, etc. It's why Yea Forums is all porn and twitter memes, it's why Yea Forums is nothing but Marvel fans, it's why Yea Forums is full of KPOP normals.
