>new vegas
>good
uhhhhh???

I remember thinking to myself how gaming has gone downhill in 2010. Looking back at the games in that image, yeah, I can see why I thought so.
I genuinely don't really see the difference between games today and games from back then, other than that there are microtransactions (and then again, I don't think I have ever played a game with microtransactions, atleast I have never bought one myself).
I guess when you grow up being jaded, your disstaste of the things around you eventually loses its edge, and it just turns into dissinterest.

To the kids who hate games today: almost every game ever made is available to you. You have it so much better now than anyone else ever had it. Go play some weird games you never played before. Experiment with your taste. Go back and replay those 2010 games you liked for some reason. Go back further, play some 2002 games. Maybe play some 1995 games. Go wild.

>To the kids who hate games today
I see what you did there.

2005 was the last great year, after 10 years of shit gaming is now recovering

Attached: 1651714290311m.jpg (1024x581, 48.86K)

you just had to be there zoomie

...what did I do there?

2010 was great
but modern gaming is fine
2019 was very good.
2020 was decent
2021 was bad

Marginally better. It went to shit way earlier.

2010 didn't have a single good game though

I think he used that line as a joke.

In 2011 there was deus ex HR so yeah

7th gen is still as bad as gaming has ever got. There’s still some shitty practices now and new ones will aways show up

TLOU is shit, but not that shit

no he didn't. he even is a fucking BLACKEDcuck. for real.

Yes

SIRS DO NOT REDEEM YOUR FNV SIRS

Who can be so fucked in the head to think that literally any indie game released after limbo is not a improvement

If it wasn't for Miyazaki the 10's would have been a complete waste that turned a great hobby into the dystopian hellhole that is today.

Whoever says the 10's were something else than a disaster weren't alive for 9/11

1996 - 2005 was the golden age.

Nah cuz the 3DS and Switch weren't out yet. The DS had some good games though

Nah, the golden age started with the release of the SNES and ends with the release of the Xbox 360.

first TLOU is pretty fucking good, I fucking hate Uncharted and still liked it. It apes HL2 and Reisdent evil and manages to have a good story. TLOU2 is a fucking joke.

>SNES
>not Sega Megadrive
NGMI

The Megadrive is obviously great, but the golden age does not start in its entirety until the SNES is released to kickstart the Sega/Nintendo rivalry that has characterized the early 90s.

*GENESIS DOES*

True

I DO NOT LIKE
CURRENT THING
OLD THING
BETTER

I've been seeing a lot of people online claiming that the 2010s was some golden era of gaming but that's the era that killed server browsers and free map packs, got every developer to try and chase the CoD train with edgy reboots (Turok, Syndicate, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon etc) and got Japanese devs to outsource their stuff to the west to disastrous results. Nowadays Japan actually just embraces making Japanese games and we're seeing a lot more mid-budget niche stuff getting out there than back during the early 2010s. AAA-games are still mostly dhit but they've always been shit post-2008 or so.

I remember thinking gaming was genuinely dead in 2012.
Hell the only games I liked in 2010 were DS/PSP games, all the console games looked like trash.

This post kind of reminded me of this video.
youtu.be/5lkAEUOURh0
I like some of the games featured in it well enough but I've always found it weird that they only included one pre-7th gen game.

Yes, but it was kinda the beginning of the end.

With the constant increasing in fidelity, games are getting more expensive and time consuminig to make. The unfortunate outcome of that is that if a game flops it's a massive loss of money. Because of this a lot of game publishers and investers can't afford to take risks of making something that's exceptionally different or innovative.

Go back to ifunny

>Zoomers are now jaded yong adults filled with nostalgia
jesus fucking christ, I should quit the internet soon. I wont be able to handle all this faggotery

yes

all fucking zoomers must fucking hang

Attached: 79567967.jpg (798x644, 41.03K)

Yeah it's been pretty bad for the last couple years. I knew something was up once I saw this site suddenly turn on classic RE and called them terrible games because they were "too confusing to control". Not to mention games like Halo 3 are now considered nostalgic classics

The golden age of video games is long over.

Attached: icxok4gugbk71.jpg (640x563, 48.23K)

Yeah, it's been getting a lot better for sure since 2017 when Japan finally recovered from the recession and could make high budget games again. The Dark Age of Video Games was 2007 - 2016. I almost quit gaming entirely after that shitshow. OP thumbnail reminded me why I finally got into other hobbies during that time.

even Bioshock , CoD4:MW and Far Cry 3 are considered old-school. sad

Vidya gaems died with the 00s

I'm not going to like 7th gen getting into /vr/.

>bad company 2
>black ops
>starcraft 2
>bioshock 2
this list is embarrasing

>Not to mention games like Halo 3 are now considered nostalgic classics
Well, Halo 3 is now as old as Sonic 1 was when Halo 3 released

Technology killed games
Whats the point of being able to render female facial hair to perfection if you still need 5+ years and 200 people developing the game to achieve it?
If we never left the ps2 good games would still be getting made by AAA devs.

The first TLOU had good character design, art design and story but otherwise terrible gameplay and controls. The AI ignored the second character entirely.

Mario 3 came out the year the mega drive launched. 89-05 is peak

Oh yeah, especially the early era 8th gen of consoles was dire as fuck, many years with only some single good releases here and there. Sure, some predatory practices have became worse now that they were then, like lootboxes etc., but because they mainly affect games that I don’t really care about either way, I’d rather focus on the fact that we’re actually getting more good games now than back then.

nigga, they're all equally bad fr fr no cap

What year did gaming die for you Yea Forums?

user… those 2007 games are as old now as Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and original Super Mario Kart were back in the 2007. You don’t have to like them, but they’re getting old, there’s no way around it.

>inb4 but 2007 games don’t feel as old now as those games felt in my childhood
Yeah, that’s because you’re getting older too and the perspective on time changes.

>5 years from now
>MW2 has a thread on /vr/

Attached: 1651718911043m.jpg (1024x768, 88.14K)

Was just about to link this. This is half a year of exclusive releases for a single console, and has something for everyone. There hasn't been a year in the last 10 where every game released on every platform would even compare to the quality here.

Yes, I refuse to elaborate further.

they have adopted the last ten years or thirteen of internet culture shit because tablets and shit, it's repeated but now with much more money to make from ads.
look at how much dykg is struggling

2008

While lootboxes are predatory garbage people forget that the whole idea of season passes and tons of DLC is something that started during the 7th console generation and was arguably much worse back then. You had games like the Prince of Persia reboot and Asuras Wrath selling you their endings as DLC and I can't think of any modern game that does that. If anything modern DLC has gotten much better and is closer to the expansion packs of old than the shit we got during the 7th gen.

Attached: tumblr_nnmjjyv62h1r8mlvxo6_400.png (400x300, 117.02K)

It didn't.
Some of the best games of all time came out in the last 5 years.
You just need to know which to ignore and which to play.

I get that people in their late teens and early 20s grew up with the 7th gen and have a sense of nostalgia over these kinds of games now but people tend to get blinded by nostalgia and not realise that a lot of shit they played as kids was fucking garbage. Some of the games I played as a kid sucked, and back then if you dropped 60 bucks on something you where stuck with it for a while and had to make the best of it, hell AVGNs whole shtick is to go back to the games he grew up with and pointing out how for every Contra and Zelda you had at least 10 Fester's Qeust. The shit they complain about in modern games started with the 7th gen, Call of Duty used to have free map packs on PC up until Modern Warfare but Microsofts policy at the time was that everything on Xbox Live that wasn't a patch needed to cost money and when Activision found out that Xbox gamers where willing to pay for what PC gamers got for free everyone suddenly had to pay.

What weirds me out though is that the guy in OPs video seem to be older than me. Maybe the beard makes him look older but i find it genuinely weird that someone of that age would praise the 7th gen so much unless they started gaming in their 20s.
