Just got a 144hz monitor, monitor and Windows settings are set accordingly and ufotest is showing the correct information. Is it supposed to be underwhelming? I thought it would be a similar leap going from 24fps to 60 but this one just feels like "60 but if you squint you'll notice it's a tad bit smoother".
Did I fall for a meme or are my eyes broken? Or is everyone who harps on about high refresh rates all professional competitive high-level tournament players while I'm just playing singleplayer games?
Yes, its a meme for retards or I think genuinely for people can see a big difference between 144 from 60. I have a projector that does 240hz and theres literally no difference from 120hz. Yes everything will blend smoother, that's all it is.
David Campbell
The human eye can't see more than 60fps/60hz
Jackson Rodriguez
play an fps at 144 now
Justin Gomez
it feels way way smoother in zombie panic source, co-op horror, free on steam
Jack Clark
You got marketed to by the bots on Yea Forums and youtube lol.
Colton Miller
Fast movement should be less blurry which is nice for FPS and such. Screen tearing should also be less of an issue, especially if it supports gsync/freesync.
Julian Russell
It's very subtle compared to 60 but if you use it for a while and have to go back to 60 you'll notice it.
James Fisher
>this
my new laptops screen is 144hz I dont notice a huge diff
and get accustomed to 60 in like a minute or two, as if nothing ever changed
Dylan Williams
doesnt matter on pc its more impressive on ps5
Mason James
No that's it. It's not remotely the jump from 30 to 60. Racing games are where you'll notice it most and if you're some esports tryhard in FPS.
240 is a leftover from the failed 3D push. It shouldn't even exist at this point, there's way more important things to worry about like colour, clarity, light bleeding and everything else wrong with modern monitors.
Landon Jones
I fell for the meme too. 144fps barely looks any better, but then it fucks you over by making 60fps looks bad. There's no advantage over just sticking to 60.
Logan Ramirez
You might notice if you're playing something for a long time at 144 and it drops back to 60 but generally you're not going to see much of a difference. I did the same thing.
Hunter Hernandez
>Did I fall for a meme Monitors take a huge toll on your CPU/GPU. It would be nice if more people acknowledged it. Going from 720 to 4k, you will notice a large difference in resources used. These retards that buy three 4k monitors to only browse Yea Forums will deny it.
This is how I would explain it, OP. When I'm using it it's not like I'm much happier than if it was on 60 fps, but if I accidentally switch I usually feel like something is wrong even on smooth 60 fps.
This happens sometimes for me since I switch between mirroring to a TV that only supports 60hz. Sometimes I forget it mirrored and I notice something is wrong when I play any game, because it is "only" at 60 fps. It's hard to explain.
I don't think the upgrade is mindblowing, but somehow it's hard to go back.
Colton Russell
Do you enjoy being a tumor? Because I hope you have a reason for being this much of a faggot. how about you pay me, faggot.
Carter Hall
You need to have over 144fps in your games you retard
No shit. 4k is good for integer scaling though so you can run either 720p or 1080p with no artifacts.
Jack Jenkins
Porn is going to look a lot better
Lucas Russell
Yes, if you go back. All you do going to 120 is make everything below it look worse. You don't really notice it until you realize you've spoiled yourself. The whole thing is a fucking trap.
Mason Lopez
>it's a trap >literally 144hz monitors for 200$ >1080p is a thing of the past more powerful gpus than ever >6 core cpus sounds like poorfag cope to me or some really fucking lazy shitty game dev who thinks he can tie physics to fps still in the year 2022
Nolan Walker
>get a 144hz monitor >play games at 144fps >call friend over and ask him if it looks better >"yeah I guess" >same thing with audio equipment too and that's when I realized most people on the internet are autistic and only spergs about specs and technical details but never actually play the games
Wyatt Miller
1) you haven't set it up properly 2) your computer has to be able to OUTPUT 144 fps, it doesn't just do that just because your monitor is capable of displaying that
Isaac Wright
I was more interested in the panel technology of the monitor than the ultra high refresh rate of over 120Hz. I have an Alienware AW3423DW monitor that uses Samsung QD-OLED. It has good brightness and color, and the infinite contrast of OLED, but suffers from noticeable graininess because of the unusual pixel arrangement.
yep like the trap of having a bigger tv making it impossible to tolerate a small one, people like luxury, who woulda thought?!
Luke Davis
>don't do nice things because you might miss it when it's gone
This is real peasant brained. Might as well go live in shit as to not get used to having a nice house.
Colton Gonzalez
it's more like most people don't give a fuck about their experience they wouldn't care if their headphone ears were swapped
normal people don't give a fuck about basic shit they would gladly sit in a chair that fucks up their back for 10 years
Asher Howard
Yes because refresh rate is the only metric to measure monitors by. You fucking retard.
If you don't notice the upgrade until you try to go back what's the fucking point? Your enjoyment hasn't increased and now you're more limited in your options. You fucking notice living in a nice hourse vs a shit one.
Eli Ross
not him, but i will never upgrade from 1080p. Even on a bigger monitor, the difference is not that large, and it's certainly not worth the gigantic performance hit. I never understood people trying to game in 4k, at least for PCs. For consoles on TVs, I can sort of understand, but even then, seems like a waste of resources.
Connor Morris
>dood I don't like better things because well uhhh I live in brazil >my eyes are so poor I cannot notice the insane amount of visual tearing playing any fast paced game cry me a river bitch
Levi Moore
the point was that you can get a insanely cheap good monitor and it would still run well on even a poorfag's computer but I don't disagree 4k is retarded in general
Eli Rivera
4k is future-proofed, has application beyond video games and is better than 1080p for integer scaling.
Nicholas Campbell
I mean 1440p does all of that except for having the most pixels which 4k doenst even have unless your job is at home and you do editing it seems redundant and makes games run worse slightly more crisper image at double the cost from screen to hardware
Christian Price
Well 144hz most noticeable difference is with fps games. Qled 144hz has very nice color correctness, especially in blacks. The dungeons in elden ring were orgasmic. But really it's night and day when it comes to fps games.
Nathaniel Thompson
4K is infinitely more useful than 144hz. You will notice a change with 4K.
play an fps also keep an fps counter open, your hardware may be too underpowered to utilise the 144hz I swear to god half the population here is literally mentally retarded, not being able to see the huge difference between 60hz and 144hz
Jason Green
>LTT keeps growing and earning more money >Meanwhile, Linus looks more and more homeless
Oh I forgot to mention *fps games with no frame cap on them. Basically buying 144hz at this point is a gamble that more hard core games get made or the ones that already don't have frame caps will grow in popularity.
Gabriel Gonzalez
what gamble is there? there's only fromsoft games that have fps caps anymore at worst you have to worry about some niche old game you most likely will never touch
otherwise it's just a case of optimization vs hardware
Joseph Watson
so if given the choice between visual fidelity or performance, would you make the game look less good for the sake of higher framerate? especially when you know your machine can run it at maximum settings, but is not able to reach constant 144
if no combat at all or any real fast movement cap fps and max settings otherwise lower settings fuck the visuals
Jaxon Thompson
In my opinion, yeah, they're meme. If you're into high refresh rate gaming, you either play older games or keep upgrading CPU and GPU to keep up with newer games. Not to mention games that just don't support higher framerates, overall it's an extremely inconsistent experience. Also what I noticed is that 60 hz often looks wrong on high refresh rate monitors when compared to regular 60-75hz monitors. Maybe this is why people "can't come back". On gaming sites people meme that 120hz is the bare minimum for gaming, when barely any new higher budget game will run at that on mid range gaming PC (and mid ranges are the most popular for obvious reasons). I had no problem going back to 60hz monitor after returning 144hz one.
Camden Rodriguez
not sure about that but I know it runs at hundreds of fps still so even if we were to use a 1000hz monitor it wouldn't make much of a difference
Robert Martin
Yes, I know. I played old shit that could run on a toaster and it's the same.
Cooper Morgan
4k 144hz is great. You easily notice the difference between 60 and 120hz+ even when browsing around on your pc.
Kevin Rodriguez
Take a month or two to get used to it then switch back. You'll notice it. It's not a huge improvement though. Personally I like how smooth it is.
Xavier Rodriguez
>higher resolutions require more gpu resources Stop the fucking presses.
Jacob Scott
I have 144hz monitor and I see no difference between 60hz and 144hz
Sebastian Green
user... don’t fall for his lies. All these memes about 60fps and 999hz are just lies to make you buy more useless shit. Bigger numbers do not mean an increase in quality. Life is not a vide game, your eyes and brain have a capped framerate they see things at. Your body has a cap on almost everything, which is why eating 1kg of vitamin A will not make you healthier than eating the daily dose.
Cameron Sanchez
>which is why eating 1kg of vitamin A will not make you healthier than eating the daily dose. you're not gonna stop me user I AM GONNA EAT THE 1KG OF VITAMIN A & B &C & D
You can get some out of your system through your piss and drink galloons of water for that to happen but gl with the other ones you can not
Owen Ross
No, 1440p is worse for integer scaling including crucially the very popular 1080p.
Liam Thompson
My 1440p144 screen goes blank for 1-2 seconds at random, it's not really a common occurrence but still annoying enough when it happens, especially if you're on a boss or something that requires 110% of your attention, tried the only "fix" I found online (changing Hz intervals or some shit like that) and only alleviated it and made it more rare, but not completely eliminated it. Also HDR implementations in PC apparently are hot garbage, I have to turn off Windows HDR before running some games (ie. ER for instance) or it will look all washed up and pale, vids will also be captured like that no matter what. Not sure if I would recommend, shit's great most of the time, but those sure are seriously annoying niggeries.
Isaac Martinez
>bait
Lucas Moore
poorfag cope
Juan Foster
>is literally 720p x2 >somehow worse who the fuck cares about 1080p almost all the content from tv shows to animes to games 720p is standard only after early 10s that they started using 900p for game consoles the only content you will find using 1080 is tv shows and youtube videos
Nathan Cox
hourly poorfag thread
Lucas Richardson
>who the fuck cares about 1080p What the fuck? 1080p has been standard for much, much longer than the meme 720p stopgap. Most digital video encoded on the planet is 1080p.
Landon Johnson
somethings wrong with your monitor for sure probably power
Anthony Price
i see this same retard thread every time with the same retard replies and same retard answers every, single, fucking. TIME.
get this through your fucking HEAD. 144hz is a factory meme overclock. you're a retard if you think 144hz is better than 120hz with strobed CRT lighting.
do some fucking research next time and learn how the fucking technology works.
> Have 60 hz monitor > turn on motion blur in game with a modern engine
Same results
Michael Myers
Searched online at it's common-ish for my model, got it off Amazon so I'll probably RMA right before warranty expires.
Jaxon Peterson
Your eyes might be broken dude, just moving the mouse around I can see a very noticable difference between 60hz and 144hz. For games I guess it depends on the game, for anything with lots of camera movement like FPS it should definitely be noticable. Personally I'm a rhythm game autist and the difference between 60hz/144hz is extremely noticable when playing with high note scroll speed.
If you cant see the difference between 60hz and 144hz, you are unironically blind. Just look at your mouse cursor in windows and tell me you cant see the difference.
Dylan Ross
144 hz is the same thing as .flac files for audiophiles. It literally doesn't matter but "bigger numbers feels better". .mp3 works and 60 hz works and anything more is just more resources for minimal gain.
Aiden Gutierrez
1080p, 240hz + G-Sync 1080p, 120hz BFI Who here king of monitors?
Brody Foster
Idk how you cant tell a difference. I have a 100hz ultrawide and the jump from 60 to 100 was massive in itself. Can't imagine 60 to 144
Bentley Ross
Holy shit no way. I thought 800x600 was the same as 4K.
Jayden Roberts
Sorry you don't have good ears or eyes user.
Sebastian Flores
>No more racism. These fucking people don't realize people will find any excuse to hate other humans. There's people who hate others just because of the size of their nose or being born with natual red hair. Racism will never go away, it can't, not for a lack of trying, but it's just how life is.
Austin Myers
I'm sorry you're wasting more money on marginal gains.
Isaiah Scott
in counter strike 144hz over 60hz feels so good, in most single players i dont really notice a difference
Lucas Hill
>standard for much longer I don't think you can prove that man and even then I still find videos recorded at 720p in fact often the highest resolution I usually find on youtube is 1440p
4k videos are rare at least when you're not looking for footage
Jonathan Cook
>Marginal gains Kek. user sorry you can barely tell the difference between 60 fps and 144 fps but that doesn't mean the rest of the world can't. Bet you think 1080p is "good enough" and 1440p or 4k is "marginal gains" kek
