Yokai Watch never caught on because it sucked dick. It wasn't even popular in Japan until the anime aired and kids got hooked on it. It started selling like shit once kids moved on to the next fad.

Because Level 5 decided that they wanted to mobile market instead. The sequel released on phones and ended service in December after like 3 years.

I want to imagine Grezzo bringing over another 3DS game makes them equipped to get this on Switch, but not getting my hopes up too much.

It was delayed to hell so they should've just redeveloped it on the Switch and released it there. 3ds release was too late to get any hope.

The balloon house art style and characters really clashed with how dark the story was, where you'd be greeted with cheers and confetti in town for having just gotten back from watching some dude's girlfriend turn into a monster and having to put her out of her misery. I still liked the game and would totally be down for a sequel, but it was a weird game that didn't know what kind of audience it was aiming for.

What was fucked up was that every single sidequest had a bitter tragic ending. Every resolution was miserable. It's like the opposite of how you're supposed to tell a children's story.

those graphics seem simple enough that you can just get some free pixel art or make your own shitty art for it

pretty sure those are 3d models otherwise I don't understand why the title is Yūsha no Kuse ni Namaiki da: 3D . Maybe they are just sprites of 3d models? Anyway there are lots of monsters of that and I am not interested in selling a game just reverse engineering it for pc and adding multiplayer/infinite dungeon mode something that missing from the original.

I'm guessing you misquoted that codename steam post, but YW4 never got released in the west due to extreme incompetence from Level 5 on multiple levels

Level-5 basically completely dissolved in the West. Pretty sure their last "major" release that got localized was Snack World for the 3DS. Yo-kai Watch 3 could have done way worse sales wise in the West, but their Twitter account has been silent for close to 3 years now, and it's very doubtful that 4 will ever get localized. Hell, we could hardly get 3...

Codename STEAM did get released in the West.
In case that was a mistake and you meant Yo-Kai Watch 4 it was due to Level-5's Western Branch imploding, LV5 themselves more or less cutting ties with Nintendo and YW never taking off outside of Japan (and even in Japan it reclined incredibly hard and 4 didn't do well, so they figured it would also not do well outside)

Literally none of that is true about people hating 4, and it sold fine.
