But the good games it did have were fantastic. Bloodlines, Hard Corps, Gunstar Heroes just from the top of my head.
It only needed one.
I had both but the only reason I ever played the SNES was for Square's RPGs.
>implying
user you never played the classics did you.....
A lot of great games were not released in burgerland
Let me ask, how many is needed?
No, it straight up had NO good games. Sega has always sucked.
A NEW THREAD APPROACHES
SOR2 alone BTFO all of SNES. I don't care about muh classics such as Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, SMW, etc. SOR2 is still better. I'm listening to its based as fuck music right now.
This.
Also best versions of Earthworm Jim 1 and 2. Shumps and beatem ups were also good on it. Strider. Toejam and Earl (both of them).
Back in the day one console got the bulk of the games, one got the hidden gems, and one just existed on a few hits. Genesis was the gems console.
You didn't have one.
Except that it did.
Also, it's pronounced "Genesis"
>SOR2 alone BTFO all of SNES
Not even better than turtles in time
If you were an SNES fag and didn't play RIstar you missed out on a legitimately good platformer that has more charm than almost any game.
It had games like Sonic....and more sonic.
It only had the best game that generation.
I can't really get into it. Most of the games feel too arcadey and there is so much shovelware to sort through. SNES is more appealing nowadays because alot of the games have modern game design elements, Genesis games feel like an evolutionary dead end gameplay wise by comparison.
sparkster > rocket knight adventures
I strongly disagree OP.
Bold posting this during Euro hours
It's so nice to rub it into SNES fans faces how we got the far superior version of final fight and streets of rage.
They don't even think of you
>earthworm jim 1
compared to the snes sure, though it was outdone by the special edition so technically not the best
>earthworm jim 2
snes version sounded worse but it had a weapon select button and much better backgrounds (which is confounding because that's supposed to be one of the genesis' strengths), so it's not that clear cut
>too arcadey
that's the entire point of sega in the first place user
Why did it take them so long to figure out save files? Were the devs fucking retarded?
Absolutely not.
I genuinely don't know what games it has except for Sonic. If you didn't grow up with it then you have no clue because none of the games got sequels in the 5th or 6th generation.
Devs were just cheap bastards who didn't want to put extra RAM or batteries in the cartridges.
You don't need saves in most of those games. You already had Phantasy Star II with saves. Are you telling me you don't have 30~60 minutes to sit down and play a game?
i liked dynamite headdy
>You don't need saves in most of those games
Yes you do. Many of the games had password saves, bootlicker.
this is why emulators have save states
What's the Genesis equivalent of the DKC trilogy or Yoshi's Island?
>Many games
Only a handful. Most didn't have passwords or saves. The RPGs obviously had batteries. Castlevania Bloodlines is the only game that comes to mind at the moment with a password system on the Genesis.
some downgraded arcade port idk
>implying
Ristar was fun
Ristar.
Ristar is Plok equivalent.
It did have bonanza brothers tho
GOAT
Mega Drive and SNES have very different game library so it's hard to give a direct equivalent. In my opinion, the best games for it are fast-paced shmups and run&gun games, but they are not for everyone.
It was the last Sega console to have good games. The Saturn had zero worthwhile titles while the Dreamcast wasn't much better.
SNES had better soundtracks too.
I tired of the "Genesis had better music" meme
SNES can literally replicate the Genesis's music 1:1 using samples and play more instruments at once than it can.
Have some SNES tracks.

>GUARDIAN HEROES FOR THE SEGA SATUR-
ye I'm wrong, all those games like Astal, several versions of Virtua fighter etc all made it into the bargain bin at the local blockbuster, where my friend bought them all for under 20 bucks each.
SNES music is limited by the number and quality of samples. You can increase the number of samples with streaming but this is rarely used in practice.
they had the best sega arcade ports you could get at the time i guess
You know nothing about the Saturn and Dreamcast libraries zoomshit. Nobody wants your shit takes.
KILL HIM!
BURN THE FUCKING RETARDED ZOOMER FUCK!!!
I WANT HIS FUCKING BLOOD NOWWWWW!!!
Remember Sonic 3d blast?
Genesis version was nearly $60
Saturn version was $20
Dragonforce wasnt a bad game for the saturn either but idk
Not only are you wrong and it did have a lot of good games, but weirdly it even had the better versions of some PC/console multiplats.
The sound chips on both consoles had their strengths. I like them both and I wouldn't say that one is better than the other.
ALIEN FUCKING SOLDIER counts for at least 5 games on its own, it's that fucking good
You also have:
>Sonic 3 & Knuckles
>Castlevania Bloodlines
>Comix Zone
>Contra Hard Corps
>Dynamite Headdy
>Ghouls n' Ghosts
>Gunstar Heroes
>Ristar
>Rocket Knight
>Sparkster
>Shadow Dancer
>Shinobi III
>Snow Bros.
>Strider
>Streets of Rage 2
>Trouble Shooter
>Trouble Shooter Vintage
>TRUXTON
Yeah sure it might not have all the fucking many-hours long JRPGs but you know what? I'd rather replay any given Genesis game most of the time. It's just fucking arcade fun and if you can't appreciate that, you're a sub-zoomer faggot.
In terms of how fucking good it is? Alien Soldier
But more similar would probably be Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Fence sitting will ruin you one day, user. Just a heads up.
Genesis fags are so mad that they're 2nd place that the have to say one game counts for multiple to even get close to the heels of the SNES's library. Kinda embarrassing, desu.
Even Sonic 3 on its own would be comparable to DKC imo. But the thing about the MODERN ERA is that no one has to play Sonic 3 on its own anymore. And they don't. I don't think anyone has played Sonic 3 on its own for many years.
I said DKC Trilogy, not one game.
Sonic 1-3 come nowhere near the DKC trilogy.
I also mentioned Yoshi's Island.
Well yeah Yoshi's Island is a masterpiece video game
It's legitimately one of the greatest games of all time
Sonic not being as good as that is understandable.
But Alien Soldier is also a masterpiece video game, and better than Yoshi's Island imo. But they're not the same type of game.
What you fail to understand is I'm not a fucking retard that still does console wars for 30 year old systems. I'm defending the Genesis library, not trying to put down the SNES. Emulators exist, who cares.
