If you play on easy the game unironically becomes much, much better.

Normal and Hard are simply too RNG dependent and end up with too many restarts due to shit gear or unkillable early enemies

Does anyone else wish this game lasted longer? Some sort of pseudo open world stuff with storylines and quests.

its been so long since ive played vanilla but i believe it does, a multiverse run can take pretty long and theres a lot more options for where you travel, delaying the fleet so you can explore more, etc

Its one of the few games you should really start on easy. I'd even say turn off the advanced content since it removes a couple of variables.
Once you can consistently beat the boss then turn on the advanced content. Then step up the difficulty when you get more wins under your belt.
Alternatively, double flack double BL2, and it's really going to save your bacon if you make sure you have mind control before the final sector.

Hacking and Stealth alone will win 90% of games; Get either stealth weapons or a weapon per-igniter and it's almost impossible to lose. Burst lasers II's are very energy efficient and deal a shitload of damage, and if you got a pair of em and all their shots connect it will guarantee atleast two hits even on a fourth level shield. The other two weapon slots can be up to you, but I usually use a halberd and a one power missile and that'll top you off at the limit. I always have shitty luck with drones and teleporters on hard, but I've heard some people really like em.

the mod does add them as a very rare recruitable race but he MLP was already in the game...

Just use Flak, works most of the time because that shit's OP. Fucks shields, does massive damage, only downside is that you can't focus fire on compartments but just using more Flak fixes that.
