What's the one Battle Network game to play if I just want to finish one of them? I played one about 15 years ago but I can hardly remember anything about it but that it was grindy.

Also I see they went the Pokemon route of releasing multiple copies of the same game, but what's the difference?

1 feels pretty dated and you don't need to play it to understand the whole story except for one twist, you should start with 2 but if you really wanted to start with 1 it'd be better to play the DS remake

Battle Network 6. It's not too demanding, it's pretty fun, and it doesn't really take a long time to do. Just be sure to play the patched version.
