Yeah, about the only time Ryu was in the main conflict in the early games was Bison wanted his Dark Hado in SFA3, otherwise him and Ken are just sort of there as legacy characters. Alex was supposed to be the SFIII main protag after all while Ryu and Ken didn't figure into it's plot.
