The sale on this game isn't lasting to the weekend, so I'll take some time to have a thread for it today.

MCOWH apparently went on the golden week sale, but OWH didn't, so OWH went on the roguelike sale instead, so that'll end later.

I think it's a decent sidegrade, but if you're used to the original, it'll definitely take some time adjusting to this one.

Guess I'll play in the featured daily world before it refreshes. Haven't played the Danganronpan class yet, interesting to see it has a default name.

The only thing that sucks about it is the framerate but I don't think it's that bad anyways. If it was more of an actiony game I'd be turned off by it. But for just one dollar there's no reason to not buy it.

Almost have all the classes unlocked now, but have this unfinished roulette if you want to roll to play something.

Yeah, for all the grievances I might have against it, I'd definitely say anyone that was even remotely a fan of the original should grab this at such a steep discount.

One thing I feel like you absolutely need in MCOWH compared to the original is the discovery skill. It feels so damn hard to even chance upon settlements without it.

Oh right, another thing about MCOWH, it doesn't have the refreshing emergency save function, does it?

I prefer the original but I enjoyed both games, I played them enough that I just wish there was "more" to them.

First time I tried the versus mode, weird as fuck.

Got stonewalled at 100km, everytime your NPC version showed up, it would use Awakening and one shot me.

Really weird. Interesting for sure.

Huh, that's interesting. When I loaded my game, it stopped being on Maniac mode, it's just a normal mode run now.

I wonder if that's from playing Versus mode in between, or just loading in general? I've never actually used the save function in this game yet.

Damn, does this class get zero str/WT gains? I thought these skills were pretty good, but is the tradeoff that I can't carry anything, because damn.

Forgot to upload the first image, but I had 40 HP and zero energy before that event kicked in, and I couldn't hurt that skeleton effectively with zero EN/STA.

I tried Samurai the other day, broken as fuck. It's like the combination of a Swordsman and Pirate. Really cool though, I liked the gimmick of the evolving skill.

Classes like Samurai are pretty cool, more class variety like that is one aspect I think the original OWH loses out on, even if it is just brokenly strong.

Despite the turn modifier being reset to normal, goddess statues still appear to be silent, so I guess the game still considers that I'm playing on Maniac. No idea how Alma's stats are, since I'm on the Draco class unlock quest.

One Way Hero Type C

No it's just a Roguelike where you can pick Danganronpa guy as a character. It's one way heroics but made by the people who made Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Mystery Dungeon spinoff of another roguelike, with Spike Chunsoft bonus classes, feat. Danganronpa, Shiren, and I don't know what the other stuff are references to.

There's also a Hokuto no Ken class, but they couldn't release that in the English version because they don't have the English rights for it.

It's interesting that golems and dragons are 2x2 size in this, compared to the original game.

Infinite Traps Works kind of killed the initial hype for the game, and it never really recovered, sadly. A lot of negativity came from comparing it to the original, and I'll admit I was part of that.

Seriously though, the invisible traps were ruining the damn game. I don't know how other roguelikes Spike Chunsoft works on use them, but they just don't work in a game that's almost kill-or-be-killed for every encounter, forced scrolling, and has permadeath at the same time.

If they just released it with the visible traps option to begin with, I think it would have been better received. I actually made like hundreds of unpublished screenshots of random trap locations to see if there were any patterns. If there were any, it wasn't easily discernible, besides "a dungeon has more traps around entrance/exits/chests".

The game was clearly just not playtested at all, the original is better.

The possibilities of near/instant death were endless and essentially unpreventable.

I don't like using the save function outside of taking a break to come back to the run later, but I assume the game was playtested with playing using saves. Or there's an actual pattern to traps, and the dev team just kind of understands it.

Just go into the options and make traps visible and it's fine

There's no challenge here, just "oh you stepped on THAT tile that's no diffrent from the others? INSTANT DEATH"

Once again, I'm glad that Holy Shrines get entrances on the top and bottom in Mystery Chronicles. It's so frustrating in the original when it spawns with the entrance deep inside some mountains at the bottom of the map.

Yes, the MC one has a bunch of retarded design decisions that don't work with OWH's gameplay at all. It also has a worse UI and it runs like shit for no reason.
