I hope Naka wins his lawsuits and kills SE
I'm shocked Square Enix still isn't bankrupt from all the stupid shit they've done throughout their business lifetime. I feel like literally no other company gets as many lucky second chances as they have.
Eject the XIV and handheld RPG development teams to safety, scuttle the whole rest of the company into the sun
The absolute best decision Square Enix has made with its publishing was NOT keeping their claws on the Hitman IP
no this isn't possible, NFTs are the future of gaming
Desperate.
Square Enix about to buy the dip and turn that 300 million into billions
Microsoft needs to buy them up. Trannies on playstation would fucking spike to 47,% if they couldnt log into their grooming simulator ff14 on the ps5hit
also
>Avengers
they never owned the property and it flopping is the main reason they're selling it all off
>the poster child for the Squenix sale is Tomb Rider
>not Deus Ex
Could this fucking garbage world get any more gayer and pathetic.
Am I the only one that actually enjoyed nu-Tomb Raider?
The games weren't great, the stories were pretty forgettable and trash, but the gameplay was alright and was getting better with each game.
That's what happens when a half-baked sequel to a great game kills your franchise.
And yes, I'm talking about MD, because there are a surprising number of apologists for that game on Yea Forums.
never ceases to amaze me how many top buying retards there are, they probably think it's done and over and just a fad too now that everything's crashing again
Maybe it's because my family only got Nintendo consoles when I was a kid, but I never really found the PS1 era TR games to be enjoyable when I finally got around to playing them.
What are the chances of them killing off the Ethics Department?
I had fun with them. Rise in particular has some fun mods.
NFT bros...? You ok...? Your newest drop doesn't even work...
How did Squeenix of all companies double down on the NFT scam?
omg no way the franchise that had 1 good game 22 years ago isn't top of the list
The main game had a lame story and setting but I remember the DLC was awesome and the gameplay was basically DE:HR.
wrong reply
It was far more realistic for something like Deus Ex to have the potential of what memepunk 2077 was shilled as early on, both in hype and in actually delivering on it. SE really are the worst.
someone explain to me what the metaverse and “nft games” are, I don’t get it.
I understand nft images being blockchain certificates of authenticity for third party hosted jpgs, but how does vidya tie into it?
I just liked them. Uncharted style gameplay with some light rpg elements, fun tombs to explore with some puzzles and stuff.
Rise was probably the best one, Shadow was good too and the original was just alright. The story in all 3 games is pretty terrible though if I'm being honest.
Also, nu-Lara, my wife is a cute!
I genuinely can't wait for Square to go bankrupt. I'm tired of them ruining FF
based naka but he should have reunited the nights team for his spiritual successor
Tomb Raider is iconic. nuTomb Raider not so much but they probably just chose an image from the most recent game.
should've used the movie likenesses
would've sold gangbusters
Why wouldn't it be? Tomb Raider is a billion dollar franchise with almost 90 million sold. Deus Ex is relatively niche. Deus Ex is still the second biggest thing in the sale
it's practically the same game as HR, the plot is just shit
>It's the same, except it's shit
What did he mean by this?
It's basically the steam marketplace but in blockchain form. The idea was you can sell your items and skins for real money because you "own" them. But in a lot of cases, you can only trade within a particular companies ecosystem and you don't own anything. it's stuff that could already do without the blockchain without as many hurdles of security flaws.
It's dumbies fooling other even dumber people into investing into their pyramid scheme.
>1 good game 22 years ago
Garbage post. Deus Ex is one of the most ripped off games of all time.
Everything from Mass Effect to Fallout 3, STALKER and many others should pay dividends to that 22 years old game.
Tomb Rider and Avengers are shovelware nobody gives a shit about.
Deus Ex revolutionized the industry and you'd think a gaming journalist would pay more respect to it. I mean he mentioned every IP involved in the sale EXCEPT Deus Ex. That's just taking the piss at that point.
was ment for this duder
I was under the impression the NFT "market" (a few thousands of speculators hoping to flip jpegs for a profit) had already collapsed 2 or 3 months ago when everyone involved collectively realized the only reason they're really doing any of this is in the vain hope the picture they bought for 5 grand will sell for 50 grand
like this is literally that joke about the jew selling pants with 3 legs.
>but these pants are useless! no one will wear them!
>wear them? they're not for wearing, they're for selling!
they already threw a ridiculous amount of money into it
the primary problem with the game was that it sucked, if it was good word of mouth+license would have carried it even without the movie likeness
>it's stuff that could already do without the blockchain without as many hurdles of security flaws.
kek, that’s pretty much everything related to muh blockchain, it’s literally all just the same registries we have now but 1337 haxx0rz
minimal, departments like that get put in place because of perceived demand for such. Doesn't matter if a game sells like shit or not, their perception is that 99% of westerners prioritize shit like this
true but movie likenesses would've carried it even if it was bad
>he mentioned every IP involved in the sale EXCEPT Deus Ex
There's a lot more IP's involved in this sale than just TR, Avengers and Deus Ex. Legacy of Kain and Thief come to mind.
Post yfw
>FF7 Remake Part 2 has NFTs
>Also, nu-Lara, my wife is a cute!
how to invalidate your opinions on a game in one sentence
>the plot is the game
begone storyfag, HR also had a lame plot
Yeah, good point.
>my wife is a cute!
I'll fight you for her!
Pretty much. Most companies that dipped their toes quickly backed off, either after just announcing they were planning to do it or after trying and bombing like Ubisoft. SE's CEO is just an idiot.
i was in a thread the other night with some retard who was swearing NFT items in games were the future. he was literally comparing in game items to the original copy of the principe mathematica. his only argument when confronted with facts was that "the math has existed and always will" and he did this for at least a fucking hour.
people who believe in NFT's are the definition of idiots who think theyre smart
S
Seethe
ECKS FUCKING DEE
>Also, nu-Lara, my wife is a cute!
Hooves typed this
When CERO stops being a bunch of old senile cuckolds.
The tech behind it is that NFTs is just arbitrary data on the blockchain. So in theory, video games can read from the blockchain or code could be executed from the blockchain to do things that interact with video games.
In practice it's a scam to try to pump up the value of cryptocurrency by trying to tie things that people actually like into the blockchain. But the technology is fundamentally so retarded and limited that you have to keep in mind that basically nothing anyone says about NFTs is actually true. All of the infrastructure and functionality basically doesn't exist. Instead if you just think of it as only having the base functionality of the blockchain, that is validating transactions (slowly and poorly), the whole thing makes way more sense.
He just wanted you to hold these pretty bags for him while he goes out for a smoke.
What actually mandates that any company honor my NFTs from another company in their game?
kek wtf
I'm pressing F because selling my sister's drawings as NFTs gave me a lot of money
NFT for sale here, don't you dare right click it motherfuckers I'll know.
investing in NFTs in a fucking bear market. Genius idea Square.
Even Sega backed off from their NFT plans. They tried with Sonic and everyone lashed at them and they cancelled out. Square Enix is utterly retarded when even Sega realizes that NFTs are scams.
Yea, it was pretty clear that he was very deep into the rabbit hole and just trying to pull others into it with him. it was amazing though - no matter what harsh realities he was presented with, he just stuck with his retardation. almost like a religious person with no real knowledge of scripture, just a need to believe in something, anything
NOOO NFTS ARE THE FUTURE YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND
>All of FFXIVs subscription money, box sale money, and microtransaction money has been going to garbage flops like Avengers, NFTs, Babylons Fall, Chocobo GP, etc
holy fuck square enix
Deus Ex is a meme game that people only say they like for gamer points. Same can be said for the entire retarded "Immersive Sim" non-genre. Shit games that barely anyone has actually played used as a replacement for having a personality or taste by internet contrarians.
Crypto is a cult.
As if I needed more reasons to just stick to the original
Obviously none at all. But it certainly is a good snake oil when trying to convince people to invest.
>Dude, pay for a skin and you'll use it across all games. The possibilities, man! It makes sense if you don't think about it for more than 5 seconds.
I have never heard a single realistic use case for NFTs in games that couldn't be done much more easily with a standard server
this can't be happening, I'm in charge here!
What exactly did he sue for? Getting kicked off the project 6 months early? Wouldn't have saved the game. I have no idea what his chances are though since its Japanese law. It would be completely fine doing that in the US.
Dude trust me
They WERE bankrupt, 3 times. It depends on what type of bankruptcy. They nearly died completely once until Enix came and saved their worthless asses.
anyone who says immersive sim immediately has a wrong and worthless opinion
yes even the cunt who coined it
>FF1 bailed them out
>Enix bailed them out
>Yoshi P bailed them out by saving XIV
next time there will be a buy out.
Real question, are everyone on charge of SE on drugs?
>Square just sold their answer to le monkey face NFT
oof
Funny thing is the only use case that NFTards can point to is "b-but you'll be able to use your Fortnite skin in another game". Valve did that shit a decade ago and it didn't require blockchain.
>internet contrarians.
hey wait a second
they bought the top and sold at the bottom
square enix truly fell for the /biz/ memes
The entire thing honestly read like a /biz/ meltdown.
Didnt FF7 Remake and FF Advent Soldier (or whatever the mobile Fortnite clone is) both do really well? I doubt Forspoken will be a hit but they are doing better than Ubisoft or EA with far less money
Good. Square-Enix belongs on the same "kill everyone in this company" list as Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Valve, etc. etc. etc.
>i HATE tombs!
the mobile game flopped. actually pretty much their entire mobile sector underperformed.
ff7r didn't sell much on ps5 because ps4 version is way cheaper and works on ps5 as well.
the only thing keeping this company afloat is ffxiv.
Shadow was the only bad one. 2013 was fun if a bit ridiculous in the story and Rise was an improvement in every way. Shadow was absolutely terrible. If you like Uncharted games they're neat little fun for $20 but I understand why older fans dislike them.
>and was getting better with each game.
Shadow's story was significantly worse and outright ignored major things they set up not only in 2013 and Rise but even its own game. The gameplay got worse because gunfights are almost nonexistent yet half the skill tree is gun skills and grabbing detection was significantly worse. Try playing on the hardest difficulty after Rise like I did and you'll see what I mean. Lara misses an enormous chunk of her grabs that she would easily make in Rise. The tomb design is really the only thing that improved in Shadow and mainly in the DLC.
Rise also gave us a million big-ass-in-jeans shots and I am thankful for it.
