Which wasn't many people at all, Battle Toads is NOT popular. Among the Ninja Turtles knock offs Battle Toads probably ranks lower than Biker Mice of Mars which ranks lower than Street Sharks. The only properties that can be considered Ninja Turtles knock offs that came out as refreshing doing their own thing are Swat Kats and Disney's Gargoyles.

i never cared about battletoads. the trailers for this didn't make the game appealing. the artstyle looked like shit, and i remember seeing images where the levels were bright neon and looked bad.

Sega seems to have gotten a hint after Sonic Mania destroyed Forces so we'll see if they learned anything when Frontiers comes out. My guess is no, but it's possible.
