>no abilities
>no physical special split
>no online
>no double battles
>most mons are shitmons with like a single usable level uip move
>fucked level curve
The gay gold and sexy silver added a battle frontier
>best music (remakes aren't the same, even with the GB sounds item)
>best artstyle, improves upon the barebones foundation RBY laid out
>most soul
Yep, I'm thinking peak performance.
yes it does
I wish Stadium 2 hadn't fucked up the shiny colors.
FPBP
Evolutionary Stones being unnecessarily difficult to obtain is a pain.
if only gen 4 engine wasn't soo fucking slow
>no abilities
>no physical special split
Good.
>no online
Crystal had a fully functional GTS, as well as a Battle Tower where you could battle other people's teams and earn points.
>most mons are shitmons with like a single usable level uip move
Doesn't matter in-game. I like how this wasn't a problem in Gen 1 though, according to you fags.
>fucked level curve
No one cares.
Objectively wrong
YJK
>unovabortion
lmao
gen 1 was the alpha/beta trial run
gen 2 was the OG everyone loves & remembers fondly for the callbacks to the og
gen 3 was the Peak Poke golden age via content, lore, and immersion/secrets.
gameboy emerald & gamecube darkness was the O-gasm nutting climax
gen 4 was the mediocre & flaccid sequel to gen 3
gen 5 was the over ambitious shit covered snowball rolling down turd mountain
gen 6 was "oh GOD! THERE'S SHIT LITTERALLY EVERYWHERE!"
gen 7 was a direct apology to anyone who bought the last 2 gens game & pure nostalgia bait for anyone who didn't play since gen 3
gen 8 was back to the old "oh GOD! I think I'm gunna SHIT myself"
I'm not counting gen remakes, that's just corporate money printer go brrrrrr into the bank account for idiots who buy each gen without any ounce of critique or hesitation & retarded zoomer babies going "OMG new pokemans"
>is any of these statements false... I think not.
>no abilities
workable
>no physical special split
probably the biggest reason I don't play pre-gen 4 anymore
>no online
>no double battles
who cares?
>most mons are shitmons
>level curve
easily fixable
>try to get into numons
>fairy typing is unapologetically busted
its like they just stopped caring, Tyranitar and Garchomp spam over fairy bullshit anyday dudes
>gen 5 was the over ambitious shit covered snowball rolling down turd mountain
Elaborate
>>no abilities
good
>>no physical special split
good
>>most mons are shitmons with like a single usable level uip move
stop whining that they don't hand you broken shit for free
>>fucked level curve
meme complaint
And then there are Fairy Steel mons, too.
>walk in a straight line while NPCs tell you where to go: the game
vanilla wise, 3rd gen is peak, even without day/night.
SOUL wise, objectively 2nd gen.
Polished crystal is great though.
> Garbage Franchise
> Garbage Games
Pokemon have no business being cool as they are to be stuck in the trash heap they call the Pokemon Mainline games
>gen 3 was the Peak Poke golden age via content, lore, and immersion/secrets.
The sheer retardation of this post
>cutting features
>cutting pokemon
>forcing you to buy several games spaced in time just to complete your pokedex
>also looks like shit in general
even to this day the graphics/sound still has the most soul
least effortful addition to the series, shows through with every playthrough
only existed as a shit out sequel to try to cash in when the brand was white hot, passionless, soulless game
But enough about gen 2.
double battles are the worst thing ever. they are so painfully slow and boring.
fpbp
It incorperated all previoous gens content, tried to outdo its predecessors even in both story & lore & utterly failed spectacularly in almost every fucking area...
yes it had some cool pokes but it was inconsistent af compared to the other games story wise & cool monsters don't make shit good
digimon vs pokemon popularity proves that in spades
>least effortful addition to the series
??? literally, objectively the opposite, considering their scope creep almost tanked the game.
> passionless, soulless game
even most people who hate gen2 for fucking up the technical parts of pokemon, can't help but agree on the SOUL (art / music)
absolute abhorrent post
polished crystal is an almost perfect pokemon game
Why do you even bother trying to deflect? What did gen 2 cut, exactly - a critical lack of sunlight during nightime hours that is a pillar of gen 1 and 3's quality?
home.... comf...

What are the differences between GS and Crystal?
>Removes Jumpluff and Statler
No.
there's slight differences here and there. like get a growlithe before sudowoodo.
>literally, objectively
chatot want a poffin?
speak with your own words, not the words of others
>can't help but agree on the SOUL (art / music)
yes it was quite poor in quality there, shrill tunes and a bunch of animals with random superfluous spheres added to them being masqueraded as "pokemon"
I said almost. also he's said that he'll add all of them back once there's a method to increase the limit of pokemon species.

big things were battle tower, pokemon animations, and a female PC.
It was basically a 1.5 patch of sorts for 2nd gen
He's right
>Regis to encourage exploration and searching for pokemon
>bases, contests, Berry blending, new game corner minigame
>the only balanced format double battles
>abilities that made shit on useful
>overworld weather for extra immersion
>top notch adventuring music
>return of the safari zone

Following pokemon
Most of kanto
It had a major visual downgrade.
A lot actually. I don’t remember a ton but off the top of my head Crystal is the first Pokémon with animated Pokémon, rbgy and gs has static pictures. Guaranteed suicune obviously and a new character that goes with it. Ruins of alph is expanded with a legit side quest If I remember correctly. Ho oh can only be captured if you catch all 3 leggo dogs.
i think firered/leafgreen was the peak, imo. it always struck me as the comfiest and best to play through.
I'd rather play RBY desu
i never liked the new art, something about it always made me think "sterile".
>clearly had no friends in school
just trade with your bros, bro lmao...
counter argument/devils advocate for a bit
>creators having content in excess to spare
>limited by tech and game cartrage limits but still able to make a high quality & content driven game
>not going with basic 1st itteration idea brainstorm in all scenarios
>actually having to plan out your team & have mediocre skill to get through the world/battles
>secrets & puzzles leading to powerful pokemon
secrets that never would of been fully found/solved by average kids if not for the internet, btw
most 1 time play throughs often missed these
Why do zoomers loathe gen 2?
most grew up with gen 4 which was post-soul pokemon
looks ugly and doesn't have life improvements I guess.
I played those games on a 14inch CRT and was amazing. fuck them
everything after gen 3 is ugly
You should be asking why zoomers love gen 2.
I don't think they played it and it was kind of the product of its time.
From Red to Gold was an insane leap for 8yo me. More of the same, but better, with a fuckton of content.
My school buddies and I probably spent 150 hours on our saves back then on our GBC. Our parents were furious we'd drain the batteries every 2-3 days.
By the time gen3 came out it was a just a fancy looking pokemon game, all style no substance and we all dropped the franchise really.
>all style no substance
that's a bit rich to claim about other pokemon games while praising gen 2.
also i don't get why people focus so much on day night but conveniently leave out all the other things gen 3 added
Simple, they played Red and Blue and weren't impressed with Gen 2.
The leap between the two wasn't nearly as great as subsequent games, despite being set in a new region and everyone expecting to find new pokemon they found a reshuffled kanto and most new pokemon were incredibly rare.
Then you go to kanto and find out that all of your favourite areas have been completely culled. It was a game built on hype that didn't deliver which is why pokemania was killed prematurely rather than fading out.
Because they never played it. Hell most people like that experienced gen 2 and have fond memories of it experienced it through HGSS which is why they conveniently forget how much of Kanto was gutted when thy say that gen 3 was the gen that removed everything.
fire red omega is the best pokemon experience, hands down
I'm only praising it in comparison to gen1. We were disappointed with ruby and sapphire because it didn't have what made the game for us. Map was small, roster looked like they were designed by completely different people, there was no post game and the new features like the caves you can set as your home was the most useless shit we'd ever seen.
You can argue about all the balance and design decision as you want but to a 10yo it doesn't mean shit when he's not having fun with the game anymore.
It's not like we're super pokemon fans or anything but you have to stop denying there's a big portion of people who had the exact same experience as me and my buddies back then.
you're right. people think gen 3 killed pokemania, but actually it was gen 2. it was already dead when gen 3 came out.
no.
>there was no post game
LMAO WHAT?
gen1's post game was just mewtwo?
2's was objectively better, even if kanto was a ghost town.
I swear you're a LARP'ing zoomer or just a retard.
Now you know how we felt about gen 2.
As much as people tout how "big" johto was caves and dungeons were among the shortest in the series until XY.
The pokemon were far more generic and cutesy compared to the gen 1 monsters which is also a side effect of the anime.
Depending on the your perspective it either had the shortest main game and longest post game or no postgame at all.
>but to a 10yo it doesn't mean shit when he's not having fun with the game anymore.
Here's the thing we were kids but that didn't mean we didn't have standards back then.
peak moment.

>was the most useless shit we'd ever seen.
Someone's opinion on secret bases is always the thing that gives their lack of experience with gen 3 away.
Man these games were good
