can we have a factorio thread?
Can we have a factorio thread?
I think the question should be, can we mass produce factorio threads?
>mixing red and yellow belts
Discustang
>not blue belts

Nope. Just think. The game is a bunch of simple concepts that build on each other to create complex factories. If you think you need a "solution" for your factory then you don't know how your factory actually works. Consider thinking.
Nilaus makes good ones
are these splitter-shitfests really necessary for evenly dividing materials on belts? One splitter has always been enough for me
MUH EFFICIENCY
MUH SATURATION
It's only necessary when you are trying to pump up your Rockets per Minute. Any type of belt balancing is ultimately unneeded.
Bros, how do I learn to reject the main bus and embrace the spaghetti? Every time I play this game I can’t help but make a faggy main bus like pic related and I get bored before I reach nuclear power
i'll think about it
Embrace the modular-base-connected-by-trains pill where you design drop in modules with simple inputs and outputs. Place those modules near areas where their inputs exist and create a central organized mall where all components end up
i use them for loading ores on trains. have a four wagon long train and have the ore patch completely filled with driller rows. lead them out and have them balance into four rows that each lead to a wagon so that each wagon fills up at the same time. otherwise the train will wait and wait because one of them gets filled up way slower than the rest because some drills have already depleted their patch and dont output more than the belts and arms can handle.
>not having a 100000 kilometer belt
Never gonna up that RPM
>He is not informed
Is this loss?
switch to speedrun build
pretty sure that was patched out a long time ago
>Bros, how do I learn to reject the main bus and embrace the spaghetti?
Just leave like 10 belts between blocks of assemblers.
Alternatively, install pyanodons mods, guaranteed to make bussing infeasible.

What for?
The game is pretty straight-forward
Except for all the rail stuff
wat
play dwarf fortress
For what purpose
is this meant to be good? Like 20% of the trains are stopped, waiting.
I don't get why the players of this can't understand the difference between lane and belt balancers.
brainlet here, can I see this in action or the practical use of this
i have never built a system with more than 2 trains on one track
Turn biters on
i love factorio trains
real men wait for dyson sphere to come out of ea
sure, gotta have at least one at a time
im always manually adding coal
can anyone post early builds so i can get an idea of automating this?
Top one is a balancer of some sort, second one is a lane balancing balancer.
The reason you want them is to drain evenly from the source so you don't suddenly end up trying to e.g. feed 4 belts from a train where 3 of the wagons have been emptied and the last one is half full.
Underground belt trick should be more known.
whoa! how do you do this?
pretty but inefficient
Exactly as shown.
Underground belts can accept a side input of 1 lane.
just found out factorio is Czech, and that art students in the Czech Republic are required to play it.
the left is just a self supplying coal miner. you can have an arm feed the excess into a chest but with the arm it will eventually drain the miner and without it it will eventually fill up. its for VERY early coal mining. on the right is for pretty much up until you have electricity. for filling up ovens you simply put both the coal and whatever you want to smelt on the same belt but have it occupy each half of the belt. there are other more efficient ways of doing it but this should suffice
good tip
It's straight out of Prague.
>and that art students in the Czech Republic are required to play it.
lel.
I know there was one company in japan (I think) that use it in job interviews to see how people would solve problems or something.
Is Factorio the best game for making people feel smart by carrying out simplistic tasks?
I play both in EA.
>indie hobby project factorio has better energy grid mechanics than AAA Subnautica
>AAA Subnautica
huh? wasnt this some early access indie shit?
No, that's an MBA.
>huh? wasnt this some early access indie shit?
Yeah, Subnautica was a small-to-medium size project, team around 10 people, and like 6 years of early access. It was not as long in EA as Factorio was, but it was pretty damn close.
Also, Factorio started as a two-man project (but definitely not a hobby, these guys have literally spend fifteen months working on it 16 hours a day, and nearly went insane in the process), but from the moment it went EA it grew massively, ending up with time size almost as big as Subnautica had.
>still no Fucktorio mod
Come on, we've got RimjobWorld, where's all the Factorio degenerates?
I'm sure installing all major overhauls at once equals to getting fucked in the ass.
>NIG
No, I want to catch xenos with sexy sprites so I can fill storage tanks with milk and make solid fuel cheese cubes with over 20MJ of fuel value each.
what's with all the factorio threads lately
Probably the same guy making them. Not that I'm complaining. I got back into the game after a 1 year break thanks to these.
Bob Angel is permanently beyond me.
Are there any other ModPacks worth playing besides Industrial Revolution 2 and Krastorio? I have heard of Pys but from what I've read it's insane levels of autism I'm not ready for. I tried Bobs+Angels and it sucked honestly so I quit after a couple of hours. IR2 looks stunning and the steam early game is so much fun after playing the base game but the late game didn't feel great. So far Krastorio feels by far the best 'overall' so I'm thinking my next playthrough might be Krastorio + SpaceEx, I think there's a premade modpack that merges them mildly better.
Looks fancy, no idea what mod pack that is? Pys?
Pretty sure that layout is just Angel's Petrochemicals. Although the "pack" is most likely a combination of Bob's mods and Angel's mods judging by the hotbar.
The image is also pretty fucking old.
>no idea what mod pack that is?
Bob's/Angels. If you enjoy a gorillion byproducts and intermediates to juggle around you would love it
