Have Elden Ring players even played Demons Souls (original)?

I have. Namco getting involved has basically ruined these games
Im pretty sure they won't, that shit ran awful on a PS3
yes. Yea Forums memed the shit out of it back in 2010, and it's the primary reason I ran out and bought a ps3
Yep. It's better than Elden Rang.
Didn't like it.
Yes. I beat the original on the PS3.
Yep, I picked up a PS3 for it (and a few other games which all eventually got ported) some time after DSII came out. Quality build with a bastard sword. I should play it again sometime, maybe try dex.
Definitely worth a playthrough for a souls fan, it's got some uniqueness to it that isn't always captured in the other souls games.
>Shall thou seek everlasting Demon souls? Or obey that naive Monumental?
>Whatever your choice, you are our first visitor
>May you be welcome here
DS3/Elden Ring trannies will never understand true adventure kino
youtube.com
>You fool. Don't you understand? No one wishes to go on...
world 2 and 5 are meh
Gonna blow through nthe entire DS series once my steamdeck comes in. I played DS3 and hated it, turned me off from the franchise completely, but Elden Ring is making me give the franchise another go.
If we just go by sales numbers, the vast majority of them haven’t even played Dark Souls 3
That dialogue after false king in remake always cracks me up and the original still gives me shivers. It's like Bluepoint were teaching a masterclass how to fuck up everything that made original game good.
yes and its pure kino. Demons Souls, Sekiro and Bloodborne is Froms holy trinity
Dodging a bullet there.
The real Souls quadrilogy is DeS, 1, 2, ER.
To elaborate the world design builds upon the last.
>levels you can tackle in any order
>interconnected world
>interconnected world (bigger)
>true open world
You skip the "hallway world" black sheep
My point was that they haven't played Dark Souls 3, let alone the previous ones.
I completely agree, but the added insult to injury is that even if we're in agreement here, the very fact that discussion on the game without remake comparisons and shitposting is basically impossible at this point is something the remake managed to fuck up.
This used to be the comfy one, now it's 40% retards who only bring up the Prepare to Die marketing shit, 40% original vs remake shit slinging, and 20% actual discussion, if that.
Take me back, bro...
I recently beat Souls 1-3, BB, Sekiro and just now Elden Ring, so I wanted to try finding the original non-remake of Demon's Souls, but I kept running into the remake- and NOW I learn you can't even buy/download the original because it is -exclusively- for the ps3, and for some reason cannot be downloaded for any other device. I have to emulate it. They force people to experience Americanized garbage. I didn't even have sour thoughts about the remake until I learned this. Why can't I experience the original FIRST (which came out FIRST) before the remake? From what I understand they're both quite different.
inb4 zoomer retard faggots tell you to just play the remake
I really wish more games did it like Halo. Not even necessarily the one-button transition between original and remake, just the fact that you get both when you buy the new one is insanely cool, even if you needed to download them seperately or whatever.
>normiebait game pandering to faggots who drink hot sauce
>game that is actually balanced and has original boss fights
yeah
RPCS3 runs it really well if you have good specs. If you have a potato PC then don't even bother.
I didnt play it not because its a bad game but because its a console exclusive same as Bloodborne. I fucking hate exclusives like you wouldnt believe
Based
just play the remake, retard
it's still my favorite one.
Most Soulsfags you interact with on here are PCfags who never played DeS or BB and played DS1, 2, & 3 on easy mode (60fps).
Safe to say, PCfags are the niggers of the community.
I emulated it on my potato laptop, it was a laggy nightmare that was prone to crashing, but regardless I loved it and ultimately have a better opinion of it than Elden shite
They think getting punished for losing your grass is artificial difficulty
pretty much this. the og community basically died when it became overran by whiny pc faggots
>muh boogeyman
Even if that were true, the Elden Ring noobs outnumber the original Dark Souls PC playberbase 8 to 1.
Im making my way through it on rpcs3 right now actually
the second dark souls 1 came out on PC, everything went to shit. but it isn't entirely on them. bloodbornefags are some of the most obnoxious motherfuckers i've ever interacted with. though i imagine a portion of those people are just sonyfags who didn't even play the game.
yeah and look how much more annoying they are
I first played Souls when PTDE came out on PC, and I have played both Demon's Souls and Bloodborne as well.
That shit is 13 years old. Boomer game
Demon's Souls may be inferior to play on repeat runs but God damn is it still unmatched in passion, creativity and uniqueness.
I have. DeS has a fine atmosphere and OST, but the boss fights are dogshit. Bosses are either slow bumbling retards, easily cheesed, or require silly gimmicks. The only proper boss is Old King Allant, but even he is pitiful since dodging left or right invalidates basically his entire moveset. I'm not one of those reatrds looking for the stupid Prepare to Die experience that never existed, but I at least want an AI that doesn't just roll over and die if you have anything close to a proper build.
I can't because my PC chugs when I try to emulate it
Bloodborne fags are absolutely the worst because they're just illiterate retards who think Bloodborne invented everything it does.
Suddenly, Astel isn't From tapping into Lovecraft mythos like they do so often, as one of their most frequent sources of inspiration, it's "a Bloodborne monster". They keep mentioning "the cosmic horror twist halfway through", which wasn't supposed to be a halfway through twist, because the game goes out of its way to talk about Great Old Ones, going mad from simply witnessing the eldritch truth, and so many other staples of cosmic horror fiction, throughout its duration. But they're all secondaries who didn't know Lovecraft before Bloodborne, and only even know Bloodborne's own story because of some youtuber.
It gained popularity as THE LOVECRAFTIAN SOULS, when the series began with the struggle against an entity beyond our understanding called The Old One, whose proximity and awakening would drive those around it mad, with a world dedicated to a King in Yellow reference.
God, fuck Bloodborne fags. I do agree with them that it's the best game, but their love is born from ignorance, and they're proud of it.
Astel isn't Lovecraft. Amerigolems think generic japanese bug horror like astel and falling star beast are western ideas. They are not.
it's the only game I've enjoyed in this "series" other than bloodborne
i had xbox360 instead of ps3 so not able to
DeS is still fun to play because most of the difficulty comes from the slow slog to the next checkpoint. A few of them are brutal even if you know your way. The boss fights are piss easy though. It's kind of the opposite of Elden Ring in a lot of respects.
I played every game in the franchise when it first released in the west. Elden Ring is From's best game.
Ah, the time before Fromsoftware had to resort to never ending combos, delayed attacks and one hit bullshit.
Up there as my favorite with DS1 and Bloodborne (which exudes most of the negative traits I've listed above, but at least you can move fast)
did they take out that he says God is in fact real and created the Old One?
>muh Talisman of Beasts
Yes, a boss titled 暗黒の落とし子 who is a fallen star with a cosmic themed background in the arena in a game with beings referred to in-game as Outer Gods (外なる神, once again consistently using specific cthulhu mythos terminology) is most definitely not Lovecraft inspired. Just a generic bug.
Bought a PS3 so I could play it on release day. It's great. Love everything that came after way more. Except maybe DaS3
It's really weird how Bloodborne was the beginning of the end in so many aspects, but still manages to be so good. They should try just lifting all of its systems wholesale for once to see if that just magically makes for a good game. Just make rally universal again, fuck it, who gives a shit, not like Sony will ever make a sequel for them to save its systems.
>I was inspired by Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu. Probably who played Bloodborne will know that I was quite influenced by Lovecraft and this work. Other things that greatly influenced me were the logical horror and the movie Brotherhood of the Wolf.
fucking dumb weab, kys
yuroweabs can't admit Miyazaki loves the USA and if it wasn't for us buying Demon's Souls they'd have never played a FROM game
this
Yea Forums sperged so hard about demons' souls that it could be partially responsible for dark souls being made
The ps5 version is better
yes
demon's souls only lacks poise on armor, otherwise it's perfect
Played it for the first time back in March. I'm on my third playthrough now. It really is quite amazing.
Zanziyaki forgive me.....
I preordered it because Classic Game Room told me it would be good.
>mfw gave rides to my black friends in college
>mfw had the Demons Souls soundtrack in the CD player
It took double-digit plays but they succumed to
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
I've been playing since DeS and Elden Ring is their best yet, even though DS3 has much better boss design and combat in general.
ER > DS1 > DS3 > DeS > DS2
mmmm ba$ed alert
but you get hyper armor so it works out
imagine typing out such a long gay post just to say you dont like a game
didnt read
>didnt read
of course you didn't, Bloodborne fag.
i think we can agree the problem isn't souls games but souls fans.
DeS was my first, I got it because the Zero Punctuation guy did a review of it where he basically said it was too hard and explained all the ways the first level fucked him up, and I thought it sounded really fun. People hate on DeS because the boss design isn't as good as later games, but they ignore everything else that made it so good, the level design (ER in particular isn't good at this), the atmosphere (both how spooky and dangerous the levels seemed (and were) and how comfy and safe the Nexus was (fuck Yurt)), the characters (completely underrated, good characterisation and basic stories and most of the time you save them and they help you out, none of this, "Haha everyone dies for no reason," bullshit), I could go on for hours. ER is still a good game, but it's not better than DeS. BB reigns supreme though.
